He smokes, he drinks, he swears, he gambles, he kills, and he fires his gun in the air just to get his companions to shut up. He doesn't believe in any God, nor in anyone but himself. How much holier can you get? Yet this irreverent creature bears the title of "Sanzo," the highest given to priests in the world created by Minekura Kazuya.
Sanzo is an emotionally cool person, as well as selfish in nearly every sense of the word. His being the bearer of the Maten Kyoumon (Evil Sutra) is probably justified, since that particular sutra professes faith in oneself above all else.
Sanzo advocates this belief by example: he doesn't tolerate people who live for anything except for themselves, and pursue goals other than their own. He even hates being touched, preferring to keep to himself most times.
He doesn't seem to have any regard for personal tragedies, either: one must deal with one's own pain. True to form, he doesn't make a big fuss about the most traumatic thing about his past; it's up to his companions to understand when his memories rise to the surface and cause him to behave in an unusually antisocial manner.
However, from time to time we see breaks in his attitude. Particularly when his companions Goku and Gojyo piss him off. When that happens, behold his comic symbols of authority -- the almighty paper fan, and the spirit-exorcising gun.
His companions (whom he sometimes refers to as his "servants" in the presence of witnesses) call him "Sanzo" familiarly, as if it were his first name. Not that he cares.
As part of his priestly garb, he wears the Maten Kyoumon on his shoulders, and has a small red chakra at the center of his forehead. So it's kind of hard to disguise him as a high official of the church, despite his attitude. He is also in charge of a divine gold card (as it were), which he thinks nothing of spending, since it's not his.
He has downturned blue eyes and golden hair, as well as a tendency to be called "pretty" from time to time.

A cruel and rather immoral priest. He enjoys drinking, smoking tobacco, likes gambling, and even carries a gun. Sanzo is a dangerous guy that is hard for people to pay respect to even if he wasn’t a representative of Buddha. He is searching for a lost scripture of the former sanzoboshi who took care of him when he was young and was massacred by a demon. Sanzo is a stunning 23-year-old man who is stubborn and self-centered, but posses charm and ability to make a prudential decision and has a fantastic leadership. His favorite phrases are "You die" and "I’m gonna kill you". His major weapons are the sultras of heaven and hell, a pistol and a paper fan.(the latter one is usually used with Goku and Gojo ^^)

His favorite phrases, incidentally, are 'Die,' and 'I'll kill you.' His weapons of choice are the magical Maten Sutra, a handgun, and a paper fan for idiots. He's 177 cm tall (approx. 5'10") and is often noted for his good looks and drooping purple eyes.

Sanzo RULES!!!!! I luv the way he bashes Goku & Gojyo up with the "Almighty Paper Fan" and threatens to shoot them with his gun (yes, I luv the gun too. ^.^)

Sanzo is volient,threathening people with his gun and saying he'll kill them if they aren't quiet.
Sanzo is very sure of his ablities. Needless to say he's not really a people person. withdrawn and indiffernt he rarely shows emotions. He doesn't trust anyone and hates having others around him,and yet hes surounded himself with three anoying demons. He cares deeply for them but he'd never admit it or show it.
He seems to have a soft spot for goku ^^;;

,smokes ang gambles,not to mention that he swears and says he'll shoot people.
Sanzos past is very sad and depressing,He was abandoned as a baby and adopted by a monk..and then the monk was killed protecting him

Genjou Sanzo is my favorite character ever.... He's strong, powerful and best of all he's CUTE!

On the outside, Sanzo may seem exceedingly moody and forever irritated by anyone who crosses his path. However, on the inside, he hides the pain of great loss, having witnessed his master's death at a young age. This is why he often battles between what he might consider caring too much, or not caring at all to spare himself the torment of re-living his past.
He's a walking contradiction. Anyone who listens only to the things he says, such as when he's claiming Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai aren't his friends, may think he's an arrogant prick. However, the things he chooses to do completely nullify the stubborn exterior he works so hard to uphold. He'll say he could care less about his traveling companions while simultaneously screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then risk his life to save them the next.
