Yoh Asakura is the main character of Shaman King. He sleeps in class and walks around with orange headphones. He's also a shaman; he can talk, see, and even merge the spirits inside his own body. He's always the positive kind of guy. His guardian spirit is Amidamaru, a samurai killed 600 years ago. His weapon is a katana named Sword of Light (called Harusame in the Japanese version, which means "Spring Rain" and not Sword of Light). Later he'll merge Amidamaru in Harusame to make a more powerful kind of over-soul.
Yoh Asakura is an easy-going and cheerful guy (in some points) and seems to be a slacker. Yet, he comes from a long line of Japanese shamans. Even though he's in junior high (in the manga), he's engaged to marry Anna Kyoyama, an itako (a traditional Japanese shaman) who helps him train to become the Shaman King.
Note: In the English version, the Spring Rain is the first sword crafted by Mosuke, and the Sword of Light is the last, but in the Japanese version these two swords are actually only one sword which is called the Harusame, meaning "Spring Rain".

at times yoh may seem to be a boy that finds everything funny and is always laughing (with that totally cute laugh of his!) but he can be serious and angry at the same time.Yoh enjoys listening to his music and is always wearing his earphones(and his clothes.EEEEEEEWW! has he ever wash them? now these r the questions that haunt me!)some people say that Lenny is the second cutest but i say he's the third.First theres yoh.(if only he was real!If he was i would soooooo drool over him!!!!) then theres zeek,Ok,ok,hao.i mean heeeeeellllllooooooo! If yoh is a magor hot, hot, hottay(which he is) then zeek (who is yoh's twin but with longer hair and sexy earings)must be a hot, hot, hottay but without the "magor".So basically zeek is hott on the baddie scale and yoh is hott on the good scale.as in zeek is hott and yoh is hotter!

Asakura Yoh would be considered by most to be lazy, and he is to a certain extent. He wants to become Shaman King to lead a carefree life and because of this attitude never actually trains. This changes drastically when Kyouyama Anna, Yoh's fiancee, moves in with him and vows to be the "Wife of the Shaman King". Well to do this she puts Yoh through a variety of strenuous excercises (You can often see him doing an air chair) in order for him to become stronger.
