The protagonist of Spiral, Ayumu is very intelligent, but is very introverted and has a lot of self-doubt. He fears that he cannot surpass his own perfect older brother and doubts himself to the point where he no longer believes he can do anything anymore without acting like his brother. He is a talented pianist like Kiyotaka, is also an excellent cook, and cares a lot for his sister-in-law Madoka. Ayumu is also the supposed only hope for the Blade Children and their survival.

His name is Narumi Ayumu. Several years ago, his older brother dissapeared, leaving only a cryptic message about the "Blade Children". Since then, he has been living with his sister-in-law, and together they tried to find his brother and unravel the mystery of the Blade Children.

Great at making deductions, like his brother. He is sent to live with his sister-in-law in tokyo. He thinks that he has to be better than his brother but he thinks that he's in his brother's shadow even when his brother disappeared. Now he looks for the people called the Blade children and what it has to do with his brother's disappearence.
