Seemingly always calm and composed, never showing much emotion. Satoshi Hiwatari is a very distant, cold and silent character, though these qualities never seem to affect how close he keeps to Daisuke Niwa. He is extremely intelligent, having graduated from high school at eight and graduated from university at thirteen. However, he attends Daisuke's Junior High School in an attempt to have a normal life. Satoshi Hiwatari, whose real name is Hikari, (Hiwatari is his adoptive parents last name) is a very intelligent person who, yes, seems to be forever taking notes on something or playing with high-tech stuff. He lives all alone in a flat (he doesn't get along well with his pop) and is a very calm and cool type of guy who can appear to be icey. There is a good reason for this though and it's not just because he's anti-social. Were Satoshi to hold anything close to his heart, that is, hold anything dear to him, the golden-haired Krad would emerge. This is the Hikari family curse. Satoshi does not like this at all and tries whenever possible to keep Krad from coming, especially since Krad is hell-bent on getting rid of Daisuke/Dark! Satoshi cares for Daisuke and doesn't want him to get hurt, perhaps because he sees the two of them as being in a similar predicament and because Daisuke treated him as a fellow human and was kind to him (slash fans call it what you will, I'm going to call it -and the whole series for that matter- as I believe it to be, which is, non-yaoi). Satoshi would never really do anything to purposely hurt Daisuke, he is, however, a Hikari, and is bound and determined to capture the famous kaitou (phantom thief) Dark Mousy. Satoshi is an interesting character to watch act and develope (not to mention just plain watch, bishounen that he is) and it should be intriguing (and perhaps suspenseful?) for new fans to see where the story will take him, and fun to revisit, for the otaku and old fans of the series.

Satoshi is one of those silent, mysterious characters who is more than he seems. He hardly talks to anyone (at school), and he's always writing something down or playing with laptops, cel-phones or other high tech gadgets (yes, he's a nerd I suppose). He's after Dark and he has a habit of pinning Daisuke up against walls and demanding information about Dark.
