Fuji Syuusuke is always seen smiling, with his eyes seemingly closed. However, make him serious in a tennis match and his sharp eyes will be seen. There are only few people that can make Fuji be serious in a tennis match. Some of them are his fellow regulars; Seigaku Captain Tezuka Kinumitsu and freshmen Echizen Ryoma.
Fuji is one player who is immune to Inui

Fuji Syuusuke, Seigaku's mysterious tennis prodigy (tensai). Quiet, unassuming, laid back, eternally good natured and smiling. But don't let that fool you, the tensai is very sharp and his insight is profound. Like Tezuka-buchou, he wins his games before he has to be serious (in Ryoma's case, they got interrupted) and as a result nobody in Seigaku has actually seen his real strength in tennis. In truth, according to Ryuzaki-sensei, Fuji probably has limitless potential but that he himself is unaware of his true strength.
Commonly thought to be sadistic (possibly because of his unusual sense of humor), Fuji's personality and tennis is best described by Yumiko (Fuji's older sister), by Ryuzaki-sensei, and by Tezuka-buchou.
-ep24, Yumiko talking to Yuuta
"He (Syuusuke) is really a nice person at heart, right? He has a habit of playing (tennis) to his opponent's strength. He's probably aware of it too, but it's against his personality to crush his opponent. But today it's different..."
-ep25, Yumiko
"Syuusuke never got angry about what happened to him. But if his friends or family are in danger he is different. He gets angry for real and doesn't hold back."
-ep176, Ryuzaki-sensei talking to Seigaku regulars
"Fuji could never really attach himself to the outcome of the game. For Fuji tennis isn't about winning or getting stronger. It's a game for him where he can feel the thrill. In the match against *spoiler* and *spoiler* he fought to win not for his own sake..."
-ep176, Tezuka-buchou
"Now I understand why I longed to have another match against Fuji... by playing against you (Fuji) I can improve myself. You are now my best and ultimate rival!"
So far, only Tezuka has been able to pull out the real Fuji and get him to play tennis with everything he's got and try to win because he wants to. In other words, buchou got the lethargic genius to wake up and really get into the game, which Fuji thanked him for.
The kanji for Fuji stands for 'not second', 'unparalleled', or 'peerless'.

Syusuke Fuji is a third year student at Seishun Academy, and is approaching fifteen years of age at the beginning of the series. He is in the same class as Eiji Kikumaru, and is also considered by Eiji to be his best friend. Fuji is a leap year baby, and his birthday also falls on the 29th of February, thus he can only celebrate his birthday once every four years. Fuji is cheerful and easygoing; with a penchant for playfully teasing those around him. Fuji grew up in Chiba where he became friends with Saeki Kojirou, the vice-captain of the Rokkaku Chuu Tennis Club. In the manga, Fuji transfers to Tokyo (and thus to Seigaku) in his second year. Fuji has an older sister, Yumiko and a younger brother, Yuuta Fuji. Fuji is particularly protective of Yuuta (this can be seen as a way to compensate for former disagreements that almost brought them apart), as is displayed throughout the series whereby he actively tries to "destroy" and take vengeance upon people who have defeated his younger brother, with the exception of Echizen Ryoma.Fuji is often seen with a cheerful expression on his face, eyes seemingly closed from lightly smiling. When excited or provoked however, Fuji reveals sharp eyes of an unearthly blue shade.Fuji differs from almost every other character in Prince of Tennis in that he enjoys playing around when his opponent is pushing themself to the limit, this gives many the impression that Fuji is a fearsome sadist. There are few people that can wake the sleeping genius in Fuji and force him to play seriously and these few are either nationally-ranked or extremely talented tennis players. Kirihara Akaya, Kunimitsu Tezuka, Keigo Atobe and Ryoma Echizen have been acknowledged by Fuji to be actual challenges.Fuji usually takes the position of S2 (Singles 2) though sometimes he is paired with Kawamura Takashi or acts as one half of the "Dream Team" with Eiji Kikumaru in Doubles.Prior to the National Tournament, Fuji plays a practice match against Fudoumine Chuu's Tachibana who breaks each of Fuji's Counters. Realizing that his counters are not enough for a national level tournament, Fuji then develops his 4th Counter, the "Kagerou Zutsumi"(Dragonfly Illusion).Special Techniques are Counter Quartet,Tsubame Gaeshi (Swallow Return),Higuma Otoshi (Bear Drop), Hakugei (White Whale),Kagerou Zutsumi (Dragonfly Illusion),and The Disappearing Serve.

"He who smiles the most carries greater the silent rage within." - Unknown
Calm. Cool. Collected. That is, when he's NOT playing tennis.
Indeed, the one known as Fuji Syuusuke is a force that no one can comprehend, which is why he is the 2nd best player in Seigaku's tennis team, only second to the captain, Kunimitsu Tezuka. Although he looks weak, fragile, and is always in a good mood, once he steps in the court, he becomes a different person. His eyes are opened to the court, and stares coldly at his opponent, nothing but ruthlessness eminating from his cold, blue eyes.
He's not called "Seigaku's Prodigy" for nothing.
Fuji Syuusuke's talent lies within his genius technique and strategic mindset. Born with the natrual talent and potential of a tennis player, Syuusuke was deemed a "Tensai no Tennis" (Tennis Prodigy) for his incedible ability on the courts. Indeed, Syuusuke is someone many people have grown to become afraid of, especially with an arsenal of moves.
Fuji's arsenal consists of his famous "Triple Counters". These three techniques are used to counter an opponents move given the situation. These three moves as the Tsubame Gaeshi, Higuma Otoshi, and the final move, Hakugei. He also has an underhand Invisble Serve.
However, some people envy him and even hate him. One example would be his younger brother, Fuji Yuuta of St. Rudolph. Once a student and player for Seigaku, he hated being in the shadow of his aniki (older brother). However, he soon realizes that Syuusuke's major concern isn't tennis, it's the well-being of his family.
But beyond that, Fuji is a very odd fellow. For one thing, he smiles 24/7 outside of the court, and his taste in stuff is odd. For example, one of Syuusuke's favorite sports in curling, and he is the only person to "survive" AND LOVE Inui's special drinks.
Syuusuke is indeed an oddball, but is rather an enigma to Seigaku's tennis team. However, his skills are incredible and his genius in the court is second to none.
Indeed, he is the Tennis Prodigy of Seigaku.
*smiles*

One of my favourite character in PoT, he is known as a genius when it comes to tennis with his triple counters called Higuma Otoshi, Tsubame Gaishi and Hakugei, he also can do a "invisible" serve. A good part too is that he is never irritated about something that you've messed up, the only way to make him angry is that you do something against Fuji's family or friends.
