Chrono is one of the Sinners, a group of demons who tried to kill their "mother" Pandemonium and are now hunted by even their fellow demons. Chrono used to be another one of Aion's faithful servants until Aion ordered Chrono to kill Mary Magdalene (who he had some sort of feelings for, be they romantic or otherwise) because she possessed all of Pandemonium's thoughts and feelings. Chrono ran away with Mary but Aion eventually caught up. Mary died and Chrono lost his horns. Chrono spent the next fifty years of his life by Mary's side in her grave. That's when he met Rosette and Joshua. After a chaotic incident known as Seventh Bell occured due to Aion giving Chrono's horns to Joshua, Rosette became Chrono's contractor and has since been fueling his demonic powers with her own life force. Now the two work together, striving to find Joshua.
Chrono is rather sweet for a demon, even when he is being troublesome, and even without taking energy from Rosette's soul he is quite powerful. He seems to be a demon with a conscience, which is quite strange when you think about it.

Chrno (pronounced Chrono) is a demon contracted to his best friend Rosetto who is a nun of the Magdalan Order. They are a team of demon hunters who track down and kill the demons of New York (and San Franscisco) Rosette handles the gun and Chrno handles the bags, the equipment, the back pack -so hes kinda like the pack mule (<- Poor Chrno). Chrno stays in his human form most of the time and only goes full demon if Rosetto or someone important is in trouble, because by doing so he takes the life away from Rosetto. Chrno, at first, appears to follow Rosetto and do as she commands while running off after a monster. However, as the series progress, we realize that there is much 'more' to that relationship then master and 'servant'. Chrno is mostly quiet but likes to voice his thoughts from time to time and i think he gets a kick from making Rosetto angry... like tossing her into the pool while she was still asleep...(manga scene) He is, however, very loyal to her and the fact that he is using her life eats and bothers him from the inside. He is accepting and sometimes seems sad as he tries to lend all of his powers to Rosetto, with whom he is very close with. However, his past sins are catching up with him, and The Sinner who is Hornless is being caught up in the aftermath of his past mistakes. He is strong, very strong ... and as a fangirl, i'll have to say this: he is THE hottest demon in the series!

Chrno is a devil who is contracted by Sister Rosette of the Order of Magdala. His power as a true devil is sealed away, since his power is tied to the life of Rosette.
