A student attending Shinji's school, Touji can be seen hanging around with Kensuke.
In the beginning of the anime, he beats up Shinji because Touji's sister was hurt during the first angel battle.
Later, he becomes Shinji's close friend. He is chosen to be the fourth child, and was in the eva 03 when it was corrupted and became bardiel.
He survived and was never seen in an eva again.
His family, along with Kensuke's and all the kids in Shinji's class, move away late in the series.

Because his little sister was severly injured during the fight against the Third Angel, Touji is initially hostile to Shinji and the Evangelions. However, after he witnesses the turmoil that Shinji goes through while piloting, they become close friends. Brash and self-confiden, Touji would be a perfect match for Second Child Asuka if they didn't hate each other so much. It is hard to say who was most surprised when Touju was determined to be the Fourth Child.

Like all potential Eva pilots, he was a motherless Junior High student. He was quick to anger and easy to rouse, but he was a fierce friend to those who earned his trust.
He loved his sister and hated Angels and Eva's (for hurting her in the fight between Eva-01 and Sachiel). The only reason that he became the Fourth Children was so that his little sister could be transfered to NERV's special hospital within Geofront.
He lost his left arm and left leg when his Eva-03 was infected with Bardiel, the 13th Angel and fought with Eva-01.
He soon discovered Hikari Horaki's crush on him and learned to reciprocate in turn.
