Minamoto no Raiko is the villain in the series.
His mission is to kill Kantaro's friend, Haruka.
Haruka is a dangerous tengo and Minamoto Raiko's ancestors have all been plotting for his death.
Haruka is the tengo that has not been killed by the Minamoto clan. That is why until now, Raiko is still finding ways for him to be killed.
Why did Kantaro and Haruka became friends? The reason is that it has always been Kantaro's real dream to own a powerful tengo like him since his childhood. And when he finally found him, he never wanted to let go of him. Haruka was imprisoned in a stone by an ancestor of Kantaro. Kantaro somehow explained it to him.
Raiko, desperate to kill the true, deadly identity of Haruka, never wanted Kantaro dead. For he knows that only Kantaro can bring back Haruka's true identity and nature. He wants to kill the tengo that sleeps inside Haruka not the Haruka that Kantaro recognizes as a friend.
