Nobuyuki is the father of Tenchi and the son of Yosho and is something of a fool most of the time and spends most of his time when at his mother-in-laws inn picking on Tenchi and the girls with Yosho with scary stories. He also collects comics for girls....wonder why.
In Universe he seems obsessed with the prospect of Tenchi finding a girlfriend and speaks to the portrait of his wife when it seems he has, despite his son's protests. His relationship with Ryoko is somewhat silly as he calls her daughter and called Ryo-ohki his grandaughter saying the little cabbit looked like him, only to have Tenchi scream that she looked nothing like him(Sasami said she has his eyes). When Washu arrives he is obessed with finding where the indoor-hot spring is so he can use it himself when the girls aren't around.

Nobuyuki is Tenchi's father. He is an architect by profession. He designed the house that Tenchi is staying in.
He is a peeping tom and enjoys reading girls manga.
