Ritsuka is a 12 year old boy,who lost all his memories two years ago.
Since that moment,the only one that truly supported him was his older brother Seimei.His father ignored Ritsuka and his mother berates and occasinaly abuses him.
Short before the start of the series,Seimei meets a very gruesome ending,as he was brutally burned to death.
After that Ritsuka transfers schools.He meets Yuiko Hawatari (who later on becomes a good friend) but after a brief spat Ritsuka runs of in a rage.
He then is stopped at the school gates be Soubi Agatsuma,who claims to have knows Seimei and is now going to play a important/twisted/romantic part in Ritsuka's life.
With Soubi who will "fight for Ritsuka" he slowly starts to uncover the truth about himself in the past,present and future.
In the Manga (February 2006) Ritsuka is now on his way to talk with Ritsu,and probaly meet the Seven Moons,

Ritsuka is a 12 year old with more problems than a normal boy his age. For one thing his older brother Seimi was killed when he was 10, burned to death in Ritsuka's own classroom and chair. After that his personality changed, he was no longer out going nor cheerful, but gloomy and aloof like Sasuke (from Naruto). One day he meets a 20 year old guy named Soubi who tells him that he was Seimis friend. Ritsuka befriends Soubi in hopes to know his brother more but things get complicated when Soubi suddenly kisses him and says that he loves him. At first Ritsuka gets angry about this, especially when he finds out that Soubi was ordered by Seimi to love Ritsuka. But later on Ritsuka sees that Soubi truly does love him, Ritsuka tries to deny his feelings towards Soubi but slowly he realizes how he truly feels.
He's Soubis sacrifice. He became his sacrifice when he found out that it was the "7 moons" that killed his brother and that want to kidnap him and kill Soubi. He wants answers but Soubi won't give him any so he fights along side Soubi to get answers.

Ritsuka Aoyagi is a sixth grade boy. Two years ago his brother Seimei was killed and that is when Ritsuka`s personality changed. One day he meets Soubi Agatsuma who tells him he was his brother`s Fighter and that Seimei was his Sacrifice. And now, Soubi wanted Ritsuka to be his Sacrifice. Ritsuka "joins" Soubi trying to find out why was his brother killed and what is the Seven Moons.

There's actually a mistake in the listing - despite how the kanji for his name is ordinarily read, it's Aoyagi Ritsuka.
Ritsuka is in 6th grade and the "Sacrifice" for Soubi whenever they engage in battles - this means that Ritsuka will take damage in battle rather than Soubi, who is the Fighter. Ritsuka's "true name" is "Loveless" - without love. His partner with the same true name is currently unknown (and may not exist).
Ritsuka's brother Seimei was murdered by the group "Seven Moons", who want to capture Ritsuka. for this reason Ritsuka is chasing the group; he wants answers for the things that have happened.
Something has also happened to Ritsuka in his past that has changed his personality - he used to be very cheerful and out-going, but now he is extremely aloof and alienates others.
