San is PRINCESS MONONOKE (Mononoke Hime).
According to a myth Lady Eboshi mentions Princess Mononoke will become human after they kill the wolves.

But San is just a young girl that was raised by the Wolf god who she calls "mother" after her parents threw her to the god's mercy. She considers herself as a wolf.

She is strong, fast and with a great power of will. She hates Lady Eboshi and will try HARD to kill her. Her love for the forest is great, and she will fight as needed to defend it.

She hates ALL HUMANS, because they are destroying the forest. When Ashitaka saves her, she changes her perspective of humans, but only of him as a human (she still hates humans); she becomes fond of him.
