He is a vampire from the bloodline known as the "Old Bloods."Black Blood is just a term in this anime refering to vampire and Red Blood means humans. Jirou is weak to light and water because he is from this bloodline.He jumps into the sea to save his only realative, the only other vampire from his bloodline, Kotarou, he was later saved by Mimiko.His sole job is to protect Kotarou, and is known as the "Silver Blade." All vampires are weak against silver and Jirou is a rogue vampire because he kills a lot of vampires outside his bloodline, known as the "new bloods."New bloods cause people to change to vampires by just drinking their blood and not giving them blood!They were the ones who caused the incident that lead to the Company's creation.Even though Jirou was a hero he seems to cause grief and bad luck wherever he goes.
