Clare is the protagonist of this series. She is a stoic Claymore that has dedicated her life to fighting the Yoma.

While on a mission, she meets a young boy named Raki. Clare initially does not understand why Raki takes an interest in her, but she eventually just accepts the fact and they become friends.

It becomes clear later that Clare was in Raki's position when she was younger. She was saved from the clutches of a Yoma by Teresa, the strongest Claymore in the organization. Teresa became Clare's only friend and took care of her until tragedy struck.
