Zoro as a child wasn't very strong. He decided to challenge the master of swords. The master agreed when Zoro declared that if he won, his name would be declared on the school title. But if he lost, he would become a disciple and fight, learning under the teacher's will. That's when he met Kuina, a strong-willed and extremely skillful girl who beat him everytime. Finally, Zoro was extremely mad and decided to end it all. He told Kuina that he would have his last fight, the 2000th fight and it would be over. They took real swords to fight. Again, Zoro lost as his swords were thrown up to the air by Kuina. Kuina said that she didn't always get everything she wanted, however. Kuina said her dad(the sword master) said she couldn't ever be the greatest swordsman in the world because she was a girl. Zoro made a deal with her and said that either she or he would be the greatest. She agreed. But sadly, a few days after that, Kuina had a tragic incident and fell of the sword building's roof. Her death is carried around Zoro today and he will not break the deal with her. Kuina was a good friend, so Zoro took her sword with him to remember that deal.

zoro had a tragic childhood.
he had a friend named kuina, zoro always defeated in every fight with kuina.
zoro always wanted to beat kuina, but before that happens.........
kuina already dead.
what a sad childhood.. *sob*

Same as Sanji, he isnt that strong as a child ...
But he trains hard to become the best swordsman of the world ...
Unfortunately , there is a person who always beats him ... This person is Kuina , a girl!
Together they make a promise : that either of them will become the world strongest !
Sadly, Kuina dies a short time after this because of a terrible accident , so its all up to him !
