| In the city of Yanagawa, within the Fukuoka Prefecture, lives middle-schoolgirl Yuuki Sora. While everyone around her is excited about the new on-line game "The World", she alone has no interest. At the insistence of her friends, she too begins to immerse herself into the game.
However, anomalies begin occurring shortly after. Reports begin to arise regarding players falling into comas. Tanaka, a friend of Sora's, is one such victim.
