I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. That's why I come here almost every day for as long as I have been just to annoy myself. :joker:

Seriously, I love it here. The people are great with only an occasional idiot popping up for a short while before being disposed of.

Do I even have to tell you how much I love this place?

Oh well, I might as well....

I LOVE ANIMENFO.COM!!

No place better than here, where I feel at home and where it is filled with lots of really nice people (and the occassional idiot). People I can share my thoughts with. Now it's not easy for me to open up to someone at all, but you all make me feel at ease here and I love you people.

The absolute best anime site I've ever come across.

Woah... why this, Cadd?

I love AnimeNfo and I would love to donate to keep this site alive. But I don't have money. I don't even have a job. All I have is my monthly allowance. Sad

Why I love AnimeNfo?

People here are civilized. Opinions are openly given and taken. The people here will make you STAY. It's peaceful here even though there were a few idiotic appearances of posters who seem to have only 2 working brain cells (a phrase used by someone in one of my forums and I loved it.. Laughing )

I love this place and, as Sumomo said, I won't leave it unless I die.

I may be busy, I may not be here regularly... but the AnimeNfo community already became a part of me that I actually have a section for AnimeNfo in my scrapbook. Of all my forums...I only placed AnimeNfo in my scrapbook because you people are like my family online. (though lots of people I used to know here are not present now... Crying or Very sad I hope they'd come back...)

It's like a little haven! A lot of anime sites are almost gray in comparison, dark and a little dismal! AnimeNfo is a ray of light amongst that darkness, I come here and it lifts my spirits!
You can have an opinion and no one beats you about the head for that opinion (which can happen on other forums!).

So yeah! I LOVE IT here :finga:

I'm suprised that there's no negative feedback. There has to be something wrong with the site and needs improving.

Basically, throughout time we've had people post on the forum and gush about the site.. Which is cool, but I thought they should have a place for this .. Like a thread for general comments where people can say that they love the site without fear of messing up the forum.

This thread is because a user posted about how much they loved the site.. That's what triggered it.. I think Ken locked the thread or someone locked it, and I thought.. Well, lol that's kinda mean.. Someone telling us they love our site and we lock their thread.. hah.. So I created this.. A sticky in the feedback section where people can gush or say anything about the site. Its a general feedback thread.. ~_^

Ahh.. ok.. I was pretty worried that supers is encountering a few problems or something.

Supers, it's pretty hard to think something negative if you totally love a forum. But I'll think of something that needs improvement. I know the forum is not perfect... but it's the best place for people like me that it's hard to notice the imperfections and complain. Very Happy

Maybe a newbie can tell if there something wrong... hehe.. but we... argh... it's really hard to think of something. Ah.. I know... Umm... how about smaller signatures. (as if mine's small.. hehe..) That way, it's easier to read the posts and scroll down.

Haha... Laughing .. you're right... I said that in my post... as if mine's small. I'm just too lazy too make it smaller. I actually think it's over the limit... but I'm not sure. I'll try to check it this weekend. I still have to study for Physics and.. too many homeworks. -_-;;

Ok.. well your sig isnt over.. Your image, but the rule is your entire signature.. This includes text, but honestly it's fine because it's not that bad and its not disruptive.. Don't strain yourself over worrying about it. You've had that sig for a long time..

Well, I have one... The Gamer's Corner mod should be elevated to God status....... I think he should....

Just kidding, I think there is no negative feedback because for the most part people who don't like the site and see problems don't stay long enough to leave feedback, and people who really like it generally overlook problems.

I'll see if I can find something negative....

Oh, I thought of one... what happened to the individual manga chat... we have the anime titles forums which allows people to discuss specific anime, but none for manga? I know there is a few manga I've read that aren't anime and I've always wanted to discuss those, but this is just a thought.. maybe because this is an anime site, manga isn't in there...

The manga database is damaged, and no longer functioning.. Therefore the manga chat and such is unnecessary so it's locked.

Fixing the manga area is not a priority as of right now.

Well, I'm not the kind of guy to praise a site, a crew or something...it may go to their heads and everything to crumble. About animenfo:
1. I like the site because there are moderators here who actually do their jobs...on most anime sites I've been up until now I just got annoyed by how utterly useless the moderators are. When I became a moderator I grew to be hated by most joy riders...so, yeah, this site is awesome from that point of view.
2. I remember warming up pretty hard to this site at first...I don't quite feel like a member here yet even after more than a year but that's my way of being. One thing is certain about animenfo: it's a big site and it may seem cold to newcomers...that's the problem with all big sites but once you get around...it's a fun place, smart people(minus the ocasional MORON), fun talks even though I mostly read, talented artists...
Long live animenfo!

Mmm yeah, dont change the limit size for signatures.
Having the limit we have now allows people to stay creative.

Minitokyo has a limit of 487x60. Its very small and puts a whole lot of limits on the signatures if you ask me. It does work, but I think its better when people can decide for themselves what size they want.
I've started to prefer smaller and smaller signatures, and its nice that I can regulate that myself here Smile

I guess I'll provide some negative feedback (more like suggestions) since no one else will. Just some nit-picking, but I'm just wondering why, for example, there is no link to click on that goes back to the main site from the forum. Also, shouldn't there be a user list somewhere so I can easily search for members of the forum and reviewers on the main site. That would be nice. I pretty much love this site because I can get a nice variety of anime opinions from competent anime reviewers and I can sort of figure out what anime to buy from them. It's a very good system of allowing any idiot to write their own reviews and the moderators deleting the reviews that are written by idiots, or the misinformed Wink. The forum needs a little work though (needs more members Wink).

love with ^^ or else i wouldn't be here Smile

but, it's often that when i search for an anime on the main site that i dont find it, then i head to a certain other anime site and usually i find it there..

maybe add more "add anime's to database" or something mods

apart from that, this is the best site on the web...

The user list was disabled because of (I think) a phpbb vulnerability that could be exploited via the userlist.. I dont know if there has been an update on that yet from phpbb..

As far as a link to the main site from the forum.. Well.. I suppose it wouldnt hurt..

and more mods for the database.. Well.. There are only 2 and for good reason.. Anyone with access to the database can trash the site.. Masahiko is a trusted soul.. It's hard to just find someone willing that you trust..

I'm still new, but I already love it here very much! It seems like the perfect size, not too big, and not too small... Everyone seems to pretty much know each other and there is definetly a feeling of "family" here. I love it! Good job everyone!!! Very Happy

But I'm slightly curious as to one thing... I know a lot of things are broken right now, like the Manga database, the forum search function, and maybe a few other things? I dont know I havent caught them all I'm sure... And I've heard you say Caddberry that you're prioritizing tasks and such. But what exactly are your priorities? When do you think you'll get to the Manga database? search function? etc.?

I in no way am meaning to imply that you aren't doing anything! I know this kind of thing is really tough and it takes a lot of work and time to get it all done. But I'm wondering what it is that's taking up so much of your time that leaves the search function broken and what not. And I'm wondering when it will be that it will get done... :S

I love it here! I really do! Smile

Annûniel, Welcome to the Forums! ~_^

Right now .. I seriously doubt the Manga database will be coming back to life anytime soon. It's pretty much dead, and I don't know if it will be revived or not. That's up to supers because he maintains the database along with Masahiko.

I don't actually do any work on the site itself.. Like coding and things like that.. You know.. I never really nailed out what it is that I do here.. I guess what I basically do is occasionally remove a review, settle problems, moderate the forum (fix problems, lock threads, etc.), answer user questions, inform supers of site issues or forum issues, ban users (by IP or network if necessary), run contests, fix user accounts (if they can't), keep tabs on the staff & help them as they need it, adding new staff to the forum, helping to find review moderator candidates, add new rules and re-write rules ~_^ as people find loopholes, adding new entries to the FAQ or changing it when necessary, Checking other documentation or formal guides that are posted in the forum, assisting in the IRC channel as an Operator, and lastly I try to keep up with the members by being an active part in the community here.. That's basically what I do..

Wow.. That would look super on a resume.. LoL Hey supers.. I'm going to use you as a reference.. LoL

Oh yeah .. anyway .. the search function.. LoL

That is disabled as you can see because it is currently sucking.. It will be disabled until it doesnt suck anymore.. LoL

That's what I told the last person.. But basically its PHPBB being messed up and a pain.. It will probably be disabled until supers upgrades the forum, or PHPBB fixes the bug..

Unfortunately, I can't tell you any specific dates, so I apologize about that.. I miss the view posts since your last visit i think more than anyone on this forum.. ~_^

Anyway if you need anything always feel free to ask.. ~_^

To the animenfo site admins:
I know that keeping the "Other statistics" link in the main page must have been very resource consuming and so its removal was unavoidable.
Nevertheless, I still think that having a list of fixed Top 200 animes by category, or at least for character and story alone, with the following restrictions:
-at least 5 votes
-no correction for number of votes

would be quite useful for many people that is interested in new good animes that excel in character/storyline or in any other particular aspect. I may say, replacing the "Other statistics" link with these lists, shouldn't pose any technical problems and the server response shouldn't slow down that much either. The upside would be having even happier clients(which could mean more donations down the line Smile.

Nfo is the shit. How can anyone hate it? Except that savior guy but reading his thread was so funny. So even reading threads about people who hate reviews or whatever on the site is enjoying XD. The mods here are nice (they treat how they want to be treated). We of course have spam here, but most of it is actually enjoyable Surprised . The people here make interesting posts. Nfo for president XD.

Anyway there are some annoying sides of the site such as the search being disabled, but I never really used it much anyway. So back to posting the old fashion way for me.

Umm, well....I actually liked the christmas Nfo version better than this one Smile , but ill just wait till december for that. Maybe we could change how the forum looks for certain holidays? Although there are people who might not celebrate those holidays so I dont know how that would work. I could live with these colors though. I like the blue Very Happy

As a whole I've really enjoyed it here. The original idea by Fate was a fantastic one, and I think it speaks volumes that the site is still being used after all this time.

I'm also for the most part satisfied with the review moderation. I think it's solved a number of issues, and as a whole has really gone a long way towards making animenfo useful. I'm a little bummed that some of my shittier reviews have been pulled, but understand this to be a necessity for the overall health of the site. The Sinai debacle was also resolved pretty well.

That being said, I've been continually disappointed in the almost total lack of improvement for the actual interface. AnimeNfo is FAR from a perfect site, but very little work is done to remedy this. I'm not talking about something ridiculously complicated (OMG I HAVE THE BEST IDEA THIS WEBSITE SHOULD GIVE ME ANIME RECOMMENDATIONS BY ANALYZING MY BRAIN WAVES. I'M A GENIUS LOLOLOLOL), but simple things like sorting a user's reviews by date, or having a place that told you all the reviews that had been removed off of your account. When compared to the system they've got going at anidb (where you can suggest a change and they'll actually implement it), animenfo's technical aspects sort of suck.

I understand that supers is generally too busy getting his degree/working/saving the world/whatever to do this himself, but I'm sure one or two codemonkey's would be happy to volunteer to improve one of the best anime sites on the net.

10 things I hate about AnimeNfo

  1. Constant bother with reviews shorter than 60 words. Should be done automatically.
  2. Coding problems. Occasionally I see a review (occasionally it's even one of my works) and those weird signs are all over the place. Somewhere should be information on what coding is proper, so that people would know it.
  3. That every now and then, people write long reviews, hit Post button and see that they were disconnected in the meanwhile. And they have no means to have their writings back. I had it happened twice. Blood and bloody ashes!, like one Shienaran would have said. Some note warning about it would be useful. In forum's FAQ there is such note on posting in threads. But here I hit back button and I have the possibility of copy/pasting my post. With reviews it ain't working.
  4. Review moderation. Once You hit more than 30 reviews, You stop having them all memorized. It's too much text. And there is no way You will find out, other than sheer luck, that You had such review deleted. Right now, I THINK I have 70 reviews. I might have 71, or 72. If someone were to delete one, one I rarely look at, I could not know it for days. In short: notifications for deletions. Are. Useful.
  5. Looking for fine reviewers. Only way You can do it is by recommendation of person You know, or by try-and-fail. That could be done by giving aditional info without the necessity of clicking hundred times. Say, number of reviews and average score. And already I know whether this person just logged in years ago to post that one great review, or perhaps she is a rare gem, and has hundreds more of such works.
  6. Opening the profile in big window. Why I can't do it other way than copy URL? When I'm working with AnimeNfo on a PC where I don't have Mozilla Firefox it's troublesome (it's minor point for me, mind it please).
  7. Recycle bin. Oh jeez. That could use LOADS of improvement IMO. I don't know even where to start.
  8. Recently - often occuring troubles with connecting to the server. I'll be honest. Troubles with that one can be on my end. Still, I always check out few servers on the net, and mostly they are OK, fully in reach, while AnimeNfo isn't.
  9. The profile troubles. I changed my password. Suddenly I'm unable to change my e-mail and I have to have Cadd or Supers doing it for me. Embarassing. ;-P
  10. The mail troubles. Or account troubles. Or whatever troubles those are, that are keeping my mail account (at nfo) away. ;-D

That is solely negative feedback. Don't be misled. Others posted already lots of positive feedback, and I don't want to mirror them, so I decided to focus on the 'bad stuff' instead. Still, I like the site. It's my only site I'm inclined to stay.

The majority of the problems are with the coding..

About the posts getting lost.. If you use firefox it will still be there when you hit the back button.. Atleast.. THat's been my experience.. Of course when writing a review.. You should always save it before sending.. Just in a text file or something.. Perhaps a warning would be a good idea..

Either way.. The actual source code for AnimeNfo is quite a mess.. A serious mess as I understand it.. That's where supers is running into problems.. Short of f4t3 coming back to actually update the site.. I think we're in a bit of a pinch as far as implementing new ideas..

I'll discuss it with supers and see if he has been in touch with f4t3 or if he perhaps has any other ideas of his own..

I really enjoy the forums. This is the first and only real serious forums I 've joined to talk with other people about our favorite thing (well one of them..) ANIME!

anyway, there are a few things i think should be improved
i think there should be a site image overhaul. I think i mentioned this before but I think the way everything is organized should be "cleaner" i guess. Somehow make it more visually appealing. I dont know how much work it requires though... there's no need to make it boxy and futuristic, but it'd be nice if it was visually soothing since a lot of us visit this on a daily basis, sometimes more.

along the lines of aesthetics, i think "My profile" "My reviews" "my anime list" should all have some sort of new look.

one thing that i wish i could do is easily EXPORT and IMPORT various things. For example, my anime list, reviews, etc etc. I don't know how much server stress it'd cause, but maybe you coudl limit how much you could transfer per day.

i agree with tammo's feedback that we need to have deleted reviews notifications!!!

however, for the losing the text you type when typing long reviews or posts.. that's something that you gotta deal with yourself. the only thing that i've seen which keeps your text is throuh xanga.com , they have an interesting thing. if this can be easily used then im all for it

i also agree on finding new reviewers would be interesting. if not at least a very basic database that sorts by newest update first. i think this would be a very good way to sort reviewers. for example, a good reviewer is always adding or updating his old reviews lists and by having this option, you could see who is being active. i think using this in conjunction with the # of reviews would be very good.

if the original source code for the site is the problem, then is it possible to redesign the whole site from scatch with a team of coders?

I mean, to get to the root of the problem and fixing it there is much better solution in the long term than trying to make modification after modification on a shaky foundation.

It would be a good idea (and actually I think that is something that needs to be done, at some point), but um..., it would be already done if it was easy...

The top banner

Hey, I love animenfo, both for the my anime list that I use, and the great database and reviews(both user reviews and the top 200).

The only problem I have is with the freakingly huge logo picture at the top of the page that has been added with the changes. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice banner...but I didn't come to AnimeNfo to look at the banner.

That and the large gap under the ad banners push the actual content of this site down to an inconvenient level. I find that having to scroll just to get any content for every page is rather annoying. ( I just tried upping my resolution to 1152 from 1024 and that's barely better...can't imagine how horrible it would be at 800)

just my 2 cents...
