Is this series on DVD? Is it possible to buy this series? If not then why the hell not!? Are they at least planning on it? It would seem stupid to not get a series this good out there. Is it even likely? I don't really know how much anime goes to DVD or if it comes to America, so could somebody explain that process too? Thanks

You can buy it if you want to buy bootlegged copies.
No one in America has licensed it for a release.. There are no plans I know of. It is somewhat likely that eventually someone will pick up the rights for this awesome series.
The process is like this..
A company like Genon sees a series they like.. The Japanese company will ask for a licensing fee.. If Genon wants it bad enough they pay the fee dub it and slap it on DVD..
Why no one has licensed KgNE i dont know.. Maybe the licensing fees are too high? I thought it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $30,000 for an episode? I could be mistaken.. Some series I believe licensing fees are near a Million dollars.. I'm not too sure on those figures though..
Then they pay voice actors (or homeless people) to do the voices, pay for packaging, marketing, etc.. and we have ourselves a region 1 release.

You can import the japanese versions from japan, check out places like www.cdjapan.com to find it. Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg though, if I remember right its something like 55 bucks per dvd. This isn't including shipping or anything also. There are 7 DvDs total, each containing 2 episodes. You will also need to have a DvD player caple of playing Region 2 DvDs. Also, these probably wont have english subtitles, and they for sure wont have english dialogue.
As for anything in english, the series is not liscensed in the states atm. Also, while there were alot of people who liked it here in the states, I don't believe there is any plans to release it in the states.
Why? Well I don't think it was to much of a hit in japan. Its also based of a h-game. To liscenes the series they would have to liscense the game probably also. The reason this could be a problem, is because not all the characters are of legal age in the game. I'm not sure of this, because I don't have it. I'm also not too sure of legal complications, however I wouldn't be suprised if their were.
Edit: bleh cad beat me to it

My god 2 episodes per DVD!? and $55 per DVD?
Damn and people bitch here about prices..
I also didnt know there was anything about the characters being underage..
A lot of characters in a lot of h-games look underage.. or atleast REALLY young.. There really is no defining line though.. You can draw whatever you want and call it 18.. LoL
You've gotta love the captions on the h-game sites "all of our characters are 18 or older"

Well Cadd, I said there may be. While it is a very grey line, and some could even argue drawn characters have no age, I do believe Haruka was like 16 at the begining. Its been awhile since I looked at a char page though.
Edit: Oh, and Cadd I can't decide if you were being sarcastic or shocked about the price heh. Anyways, back when I first saw this series I looked into that. Needless to say I was pretty shocked.
Each DvD is 5500 Yen, which is about 50bucks actually. However, like I said, each contains two episodes. 14 Episodes in total, for 7 Discs.
Disc 1 all prices are the same as disc 1.

Thats what I was thinking, but online its so hard to tell sometimes. I know the feeling though, thats something around 3 box sets BEFORE shipping. Assuming the set is around 100 bucks.

KGNE has been licensed for sale in Singapore by Odex. Boxed set available for SGD$29.90. If you can find a friend who can get it for you and mail it over, that should not pose any copyright problems. It IS a licensed copy. But mind you, it's on Video CD format only, not DVD. If you've got a multi-player (DVD/VCD/CD-R/CD-RW) then you'll have no problems playing it. It's subbed so you don't have to put up with generally annoying dub voices.

Do you know if the subtitles are english? I'm not very familar with which nations speak what lol. It seems kind of cheap though, depending on conversion rates, but its liscensed eh? If someone still had the fansubs, they could probably get better quality by burning those to DvD tough. Of course, getting your hands on said subs would be near impossible now since Age (I think Age is the company who makes this) stopped all fansubbing and asked to have all the current ones removed.

The subs are English, and as far as I can tell (and my English is not perfect either), there are few to no mistakes like grammer or tenses or structure or whatever with the subs. It's pretty good quality too.
Now all you gotta do is find someone who can buy the set for you and send it over.
Oh, and I forgot one thing. Someone mentioned about a special edition version of KGNE where they showed some extra footage at the very end of the series (not sure about what it is). That's not available with this version that's available here, as far as I know. Probably wouldn't make much of a difference 'cos the story ended where it should. Any extras would be just cream on the cake.

I think the footage your thinking of is the bonus ending or something.

Yeah, that's the one. Does it make a difference to the ending? I didn't think so, but I could be wrong. If I could get my hands on that version I would, but it's not terribly important right now.

I hear its just like an extended ending based on the game's storyline or something... It shouldn't make that much a difference, except to the hardcore fan.

I found one on ebay from Hong Kong, it has all the little c's and stuff, so I think it's legit. But the subtitles are horrible. Wrong tenses everywhere, some episodes don't even make sense if you haven't already seen the series. So in other words, stay away from a two disc set out of Hong Kong.

You bought a boot. We have the same 2-DVD set on sale here listed under it's proper title "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien". The legit ones here, sold by Odex, are titled "Rumbling Hearts" which I think happens to be the title to one of the songs in the series.
Don't ask me why Odex screwed up with the series title.

If I remember from my OST, the intro is called Rumbling Hearts. Its actually one of the 2 or 3 songs listed with an ENGLISH title on the OST I have.
Personally, I hope if it ever does get liscensed over here in the states they keep the Japanese name, and not use the rough translation: The Enternity You Wish For.
Edit: So I pulled out my OST to check, Rumbling Hearts doesn't actually seem to be the opening of theme, it is VERY close though. The opening lyrics are different. The style, if you will, seems to be the same though, fast paced with the, I guess, pop style.
It is very close though.
