Naive? Or is it just me? When I watched this for the first time it was an OK watch.
Lately, I returned to old anime, and rewatched this and OMG how naive and goody-goody this is!!
I hardly could believe how my reactions differed.
So I have a question: is it just me, or perhaps You did experienced sth similar about this anime?
And I'm here speaking about OAV, not the movei, the movie is far more 'adult'-like and far less naive.
Here at moments I was almost fed up with it's 'goodness'... :-)
And it's even more puzzling since I don't remeber having that kind of reactions when I've seen it for the first time...

Hey, it's a feel-good show. I'll bet it got lots of kids picking up the phone and dialling some random numbers, in the hope of....
Naive it is. I agree. But it was fun. And sometimes, in life, I'd like to be able to believe that fairytales do happen.

The second time I watched AA Megami Sama, I still liked it. Belldandy, Naive and Goody-Goody yes, though I don't think Urd is naive or goody-goody. My opinion didn't change that much the second time.

Naive, maybe, but it works in context.
Believe it or not, decent guys like Keiichi do exactly exist... it's just that they generally don't find a nice girl like Belldandy and live happily ever after - they're used by crappy women until they become jaded and transform into assholes, that which they formerly hated so much.
This is just what WOULD happen if a nice boy and girl ever actually found each other. And if the nice girl happened to be a goddess..
I enjoy the OVA series quite a bit, as well as the movie. The TV I'm mixed on, from what I've seen.

I still liked it even going back and watching it over again..
Yeah.. You could say that Bell was naive.. She was.. Keiichi was so damn naive it made me nearly sick.. He's the same way in the TV series which is based on the manga.. I'd say that it gets old.. He does.. Then again.. That's what makes the story..
I think if they just wound up having sex it would be over.. LoL
I couldnt even think of haivng sex with a girl like Belldandy.. Not that I know one.. But I mean.. I just couldnt fathom it..

Well, it's not that I was angered by the series or what. It's also not that I didn't like it.
I just was surprised that my POV changed so much!
Anyway, thanks for all the answers...

When I first watched it, I thought it was absolutely marvellous. However, when I watched the TV series, (which is basically the same thing, but uglier), I thought it wasn't as great. I have no complaints about naiveness or whatever. It is a funny anime at times and I really like Skuld.

Fortunately the manga is better.
It gives one warm fuzzy feeling and quite a few laughs.

yeah the upside of the manga is the self-defined pacing.
