haha mmm I'd say best anime weapon = mecha's. Specifically, I liked Escaflowne- It can turn into a flying dragon too, which is sweet!!!! mmm.... the Gundam's from Gundam SEED are also awesome, and I suppose Eva Unit 1 is ok, but I don't like it's pilot much... lol.
As for the FF8 discussion, Rinoa + Squall = worst couple ever. Ick, I'm also a Rinoa and Squall hater. But the gunblade is cool.... Squall's, that is.

But Wakka having the strongest weapon? it shouldve been Tidus' because he's the main character. weird
When characters are maxed out on stats, they pretty much do max dmg on every hit. It just so happens that wakka has the limit break that has the most number of hits. Despite the fact that wakka has the strongest attack, i still love tidus most in ffx bcoz he's funny ^_^ Too bad Caladbog (tidus's clestial weapon) < World Champion (wakka's celestial weapon) bcoz caladbog doest hav double or triple ap while world champion has double ap. Thus wakka will out level tidus sooner or later.

TBH, Auron's probably the strongest among the FFX cast. Look at his sphere grid location. It mostly increases his strength and HP so he's literally a walking tank for an old guy, lol.
Caladbolg looks cool, but crap. The only thing I like about it is the design and the ability for Tidus to counter. Wakka's pretty average in every department from the start, but you could train him to be on par with Auron.
Masamune looks and is cool. I also like Ultima Weapon: the monster and Clound's and Sora's weapons.

Lol. If we wanna talk about someone being averaged in the game, it has to be Kimahrii but he is crap. Seriously, he's the least used character in the game for me. Caladbolg was just for the looks and I got disappointed having to go through all the sidequest for it. But on the other hand, the Nirvana was pretty powerful. Triple over-drive and set for over-drive gauge to healer, Yuna gets over-drive healing three times. and she does good damage with Holy using Nirvana. Definiately my favorite character in game.
Nirvana is a cool weapon.

I disagree with you about Kimahrii being crap. Since he's meant to be a blue mage he can go to anyone's sphere grid and learn abilities. If you have two teleport spheres, lots of time, and willing to do this. You can make Kimahrii a red mage (mixture of black and white) by going to Yuna and Lulu's sphere grid and a walking tank by going to Aaron's grid.
It also looks like there's alot of Squall and Rinoa haters here. Oh well I'll get over it in like 3 seconds.

Old guy? He's supposed to be, what, in his latter 20s, if I recall correctly? That's not too old (then again, I don't know, maybe it is )
Auron was one of my favorite characters from FFX, though. I probably should have mentioned his swords among my favorite weapons, as well.

My favourite anime weapon: the folding paper fan wielded by Chidori.
I don't remember what it's called even though I came across it while watching Canvas a couple weeks ago.

Chidori Kaname's (Full Metal Panic) huge paper fan. If it can strike down the almost-invincible Sagara, it must be something.

Forgot to mention that it's called a 'harisen'. Capable of sending a man skidding across the room or up into the stratosphere. This has got to be the coolest weapon that an anime female could ever have!

I just remembered, For me the ultimate weapon of all is Kurapica's chain . It's because the chain will stike the heart of the enemy no matter how near or far they are from him (personally he's a she), the chain itself knows wether the enemy kept the agreement between him/her and Kurapica or not. Doesn't that sound cool?

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but EVA-01 from NGE was a real badass weapon. Especially after episode 17 - I went like "shit, this thing is powerfull!"....
And the Bleach captains have some really nice swords... they don't act like swords though . But they have swell powers... Quote: Aizen's sword is invincible. Well atleast until now. It hyponitizes you!

I like Tohno Shiki's knife and glasses that can cut any thing to pieces from cutting the "Life-Lines" in the object with the glasses.

You need to rewatch the anime. Shiki could've done it with any knife, it was an innate ability. The glasses prevented him from seeing the lines. In other words, there's nothing special about the two.

I know that. The knife he had in particular just looked cool. Yeah...I should've edited what I said about his glasses.

It's not 100% anime weapon since the original is from FF VII game, but since it has appeared on anime (AC and maybe more)...
Sephiroth's Legendary Musamune!
Now one 100% anime weapon:
Black Cat's orihalcon gun, for sure!

Tally another vote for Kaname Chidori's paper fan!
Though the one particular bioweapon from the FMP series was interesting. Hmmm, relieves stiff shoulders, huh?

Strange/fantastic stuff: Zephiris, from Scrapped Princess.
If it's about something more realistic (well, yeah, difficult to manipulate for a normal man, but so damn cool): Alucard's gun.
If you're not allowed to shoot and should battle your foe face to face, like a man (not me... I'm in love with Indiana Jones's kind of moves in regard to the subject ) then it's definitely Gutts's sword.
And Kenshin's katana : if you look at it as an object it's not much, but if you look at it as a simbol it's incredibly cool.

@Videobabel: You know that scene in Indiana Jones was origianlly written to be a big involved fight scene, but Harrison Ford was quite sick that day, so they cut out the fight scene, and did the gun trick. (It was supposed to be sword against bullwhip.)
For me, KNOWING that I don't have the strength to wield Guts' sword, and I would really rather not even have to CARRY the thing, I don't know.
Hey, does Mahoro (from Mahoromatic ) count as a weapon? One that could double as a maid would be nice.

Of course I know.
That just proves once more that pure genius just isn't in the scripts...
Instead of maybe another semi-cool fight scene (blending in seamlessly... coz there's a lot of them, let's face it) we have now (due to accident/inspiration/whatever) an iconic moment in adventure movies.
(Totally unrelated to the subject: maybe that's one of the motives why the new SW movies suck... no Harrison Ford. "Scoundrel? ...I like the sound of that!")
And of course I'm not implying that I will ever actually swing Gutt's sword. If it comes to that kind of fight I'll have a copy (made from aluminium and hollow). The psychological effect counts. =))

Since I'm watching Azumanga Daioh now....
Yukari-sensei's driving skills (or rather, lack of it).
The penalty for killing someone with reckless driving is a lot less harsh than killing someone with a knife. And if someone suffers a heart attack while riding in your car (as Chiyo-chan almost did), it's their own fault! No penalty!
Edit:
This is not a "how to kill someone and get away with it" post.

Although, I dont think I have every seen it in an anime yet, it is one of my favorite melee weapons.
Just a basic staff. I personally have never had formal training with it. But it is something that is relatively easy to come across, I know how to use it. Well...a little.
And I guess my second favorite weapon (and Im sure everyone has seen it in Anime at least a billion times) is the Katana.
(crappy pic)
As you can see, I like very simple, managable weapons. I find that some weapons (especially in anime) are really overexagerated. Sure, they look cool and whatnot, but they arent very realistic. Anyway, just my opinion...

Lt.Col.Hughes: I've had some training in both of those weapons, which makes them more to the mundane than many of the ones that come from anime.
Actually, given that my car's been vandalised/broken into a few times in the last month, I've been keeping my bo close to the door, so that I can grab it on the way out. I also have a boken (Wooden sword) which is handy in my bedroom in case I'm particularly upset if/when my car alarm goes off. The bo will do a fair amount of damage, but with the boken, I can pick and choose which bones to break that has it's appeal...
Of course, I think that Sagura Souske's Bontakun would be a good one, too.
edit by stick: i had to remove the dashes to see if that fixed the thread.

That's only if they're bulked up and burdened by the additional armour. In which case, they can't transform to fighter mode.
For a nice action sequence of the bulked up baby in action, watch Macross Zero. I'm sure it must have been featured in the original Macross TV as well, but you all know how crappy the animation was.
Note:
Picture taken from the Macross RPG game book published by Palladium. It was originally B&W, but someone has filled in the colours and posted it on the net. I remember the originals were done by Kevin Long.

I also have a boken (Wooden sword) which is handy in my bedroom in case I'm particularly upset if/when my car alarm goes off. The bo will do a fair amount of damage, but with the boken, I can pick and choose which bones to break -- that has it's appeal...
