Question about Trigun, all welcome to answer.(SPOILERS)

Now, I normally hate forums. I like quick responses (chat rooms), but what can ya do? Anyways, had to scan through all of the pages to make sure someone didn't post something like this, don't want Stick to chop off my head (I wonder if Stick would actually do that?). Okay, so I've been debating about getting Trigun for a while now, but I'm not so sure.. Would it be a good anime to get regardless of me not liking guns in animes? I find guns cowardly, I would prefer a much more traditional weapon such as a katana. Every where I go people tell me how great it is, but I don't know. Figured someone would find this post and help me out a bit. Thank you, and I hope someone can help me out. Everyone can respond, doesn't matter if you're a fan or not, just want some opinions, suggestions, anything that would be helpful.

this might be a possible spoiler to you i really dont tell much about the anime but the storyline but there is one spoiler in it but i do answer your question also so take your pick :-D to read or not to read ;)

Quote:
answer is yes to get it its not all about gun fights and guns....the 1st 13 eps are packed with humor and just crazyness..... the last 13 eps get to a more serious and deeper side of the anime of a character who does not like to kill people and people who are after him to try to get him to kill someone which in the ep that it does happen you see vash as very humain person

hope that helps

He said that he preferred katanas, not that he disliked them as well.

Anyways, in Trigun the gun becomes a noble weapon, at least in Vash's hands. I can't think of one time in which he used his gun in a cowardly manner. For a long distance weapons, he seems to use it in very close combat a lot of the time. Of course when his gun is put away he almost always seems to act in a cowardly manner.

Ethics..

Thank you for your feedback, everyone. Was kind'a getting mixed signals there, but.. I read about this somewhere on here, downloading. Would it be wrong to just download an episode to see if I like it, rather then buy it? I don't want to go ahead and spend money on something I have a 50/50 chance of liking, I'm not Mr. Rich Richington.

i'm with witch hunter... i love trigun it's a good solid anime for any one even if you "don't like guns" the story like is very good and the altogether look and feel of the anime is great.

This might be kind of a spoiler but not really...

I dont like guns either (me prefere fistys)... and i found that Triguns "gunnyness" dont actually dominate the series.

Although I havent seen a anime with less guns. There was very little long range fighting in it.

Yeah, I think I'll download a few episodes, don't really want to since I have limited hard drive space (20GB's). If I like it I can easily buy the box set at the local Best Buy. Thank you again, everyone. I feel like swaying this conversation.. What is everyones take on teenagers who rave about animes such as Dragonball Z and InuYasha? I personally get sick of kids who say those animes are so great, when they haven't even bothered to see what other animes are out there. They just turn on the TV and "Wow, that is such a great anime, look at all the killing, and blowing up, and 'AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!' *taken from Dragonball Z power-up*". The first anime I ever watched was Dragonball Z, but now that I go back and watch it after I've seen such animes as Naruto, .hack//SIGN, RahXephon, Berserk, etc. I realise that Dragonball Z, InuYasha, and some of the more TV popular (thanks to Cartoon Network) animes aren't that impressive. Why do kids like those shows so much? (I think I just answered my own question with what I stated above) Also, (I know this hits another topic) but subbed? Dubbed? I was watching Perfect Blue on the Action channel for my digital cable, and Mima Kirigoe's voice was an American "Southern" accent. It completely ruined the anime for me, I rather hear Japanese, have read English subtext. Thanks to animes (I know this is another topic as well), I want to learn Japanese. But my memory is horrible, can't remember what I did yesterday let alone another language. I think I have ADD, haha, I can't stay on one topic for a long time.

About Trigun in general: I found the series boring, predictable and clicheed, but that really seems to be just me. The first half of the series with all the slapstick humor is somewhat enjoyable (but certainly nothing great) and the latter half just fails, IMHO.

Then again, so many people like it that perhaps the fault is just in me.

You can't call Vash as being a coward using a Gun. He uses it not to kill people, he uses it to save people!

In the serie, he kills Legato because he hadn't no choice, or to kill him or to let his friends be killed! In that situation, what would you do?

Vash uses his gun to prevent his brother Knives to destroy the Human kind. If you watch the end of Trigun, you'll see that when Vash defeats his brother, he discards his gun and goes back to the village.

I'm not gonna quote the rest of your text, cuz that would just make the problem greater. You've got some really big spoilers there.

Thank you ever so much, MadKulhas. Now, why don't YOU JUST GO AND TELL ME THE REST OF IT WORD FOR WORD SINCE YOU RUINED IT FOR ME! Jesus Christ! I didn't want to know the entire damn story line! I just wanted to know if it would be a good watch!(yoink)*More of Gekkani's inner thoughts* "I wonder if I'll be banned for this, because if I will I have a lot more to say to MadKulhas" I just re-read the 'rules', I saw this: A problem poster will get three warnings before they are punished. The first general punishment will be a one to two week ban from the AnimeNfo Forum. If a user continues to break the forum rules then the admistration can consider a permanent ban. If necessary, an IP ban will be used. - Had to laugh.. because no offense, but forums aren't life pending, I could frankly care less if I could post anything here. No offense again, because I can just go onto other forums, chat rooms, etc. (yoink)

who the hell are you? Razz

and thanks for thinking that i'm a god. never really came into my mind until now. have fun in those other chat rooms you were talking about, and yeah, madkulhas should have properly marked his text as a spoiler, but a spoiler tag was made in the title before you posted, so who's fault is that? like we said, if you enter an area which has been marked as a spoiler area, it's your own loss.

what's there to think about? another moderator put in a SPOILER warning in the title thread, forget that you think it's yours (which it's not. it's the site's, genius.). You saw that, and chose to ignore it. Your fault, not mine. I really don't care if you made it or not.. that's an issue you'll have to figure out with the person who made the spoiler. if you had posted BEFORE the spoiler was put in, fine. you have all right to be angry. but it was placed before you read it.. sorry.

further... i have no idea who you are. calling me a jackass? if i had actually DONE something to you, fine. I guess you'd be angry at me. but to get pissed off at me for no reason?

I just assume you're just whining like a baby just to get attention from everyone cause someone ruined the series for you and so you actually think that i'd ban you on the spot if you insult me. so instead of my anger you have my pity.

In conclusion:

And believe me, this applies especially to you. Razz

I created the thread, therefore it is mine. Now, say, if you created the thread, you being the moderator, it would be the websites. So in conclusion, my thread, and that bastard shouldn't have spoiled it. "further... i have no idea who you are. calling me a jackass?" I'm calling you a jackass, basically because I don't like moderators. No moderators in chat rooms, but for some reason they are in forums. Point in case, that is why chat rooms are better, not to mention I can ignore people whenever they anger me. So, kindly go kill yourself, thank you.

one.... it is your fault for posting about a series and not expecting to get spoilers heck i even gave a spoiler on my post but i marked it saying it was a spoiler

two.... stick is an administrator but chooses to have the moderator name

three..... you do see mods in chat rooms take paltalk every room has mods in it even msn chat rooms have mods in it....every good chat room program will have mods that supervise the txt if you didnt then all hell would break loose

four... you can ignore ppl here too you just skip over there txt

five..... you need to shut up about this thread it happened so what get over it and move on dont dwell on a subject

six....... thats all i have to say about this unless you respond more then ill have more to say more than likely

So...I guess the topic is allready lost...But I really would like to make some comments.
First, Gekkani should had thought h would get spoilers for answers
Second...Let's go back to the original topic...If you care about my opinion, I think Trigun is one of the gratest animes I've seen so far...I really really
enjoy it...Didin't like so much the animation though...
About Guns and Katanas, I eas a little reticent about watching it because I son't like animes involving guns either...But I'm so happy I was able to overcome my prejudices, because I know now that being open is the only way to get wiser...
So...
Keep your mind open!!! You'll be rewarded!

Trigun

Well, certainly an entertaining thread to say the least.
I've screwed up in the past and put up a spoiler, but I learn from my mistakes... as should you. Quit dwelling on it.
As for Trigun, it was an enjoyable series to watch. Vash is such a dynamic character with great beliefs (reminds me of Kenshin - the whole 'non-killing' vow).
Guns and katanas... Katanas are my favorite weapon. It takes skill to use them properly. Anyone can learn how to point and shoot, practicing only to get pin-point accuracy. Swords you actually have to learn cuts and everything (sry, just a small rant).
Oh, BTW, didn't know if you guys knew this or not... but interesting bit of info. about Trigun I picked up from some of my other Anime friends. It was a big bomb (*boom*) in Japan. No one liked it that much. But it had made up here in America.
A great series to have, one of my top 10, but near number 8. Other animes out there are better, but still a must have.

this was the first anime i watched, and it was yonks ago. however, trigun hold special memories for me. =)

this anime is great. the story line was slow at first, but gradually picked up. at first, i thought vash was some poor misunderstood guy, but when i saw how he handles his gun, damn he's for real. i also fell in love for the first time with an anime character - the ultra cool, suave preacher Nick. gotta admit that its because the male animes look so "kakoii" that i'm addicted to anime now. =P

i can't remember much about trigun now, but i do know that the how is genuinely funny, without trying too hard. i think it's the perfect first anime to get me addicted.

in some ways, vash is indeed like kenshin. both of them are trying to save lives, are misunderstood and constantly chased after. both are also equally masterful in their weapon of choice. both animes are also super good. animes make my life colourful! long live the japanese!

ahahaha nice how you ruined the entire plot for those who haven't seen it yet (luckily I have) in so little words!

You posted to a conversation five months dead.

You responded to a topic almost a year old where it doesn't look like the author has been here since.

I'm going ahead and locking this.
