I think I read on this forum somewhere that the anime is actually spawn from the J-Drama.. So you say really that the drama was cheapened by not following the anime.. when its actually the reverse if this is true.. They I think expanded the Anime and reworked it a bit to make it longer..
Anyway.. Both were good.. I just liked the Drama much better.. Maybe cuz I saw it first? Who knows..

Hmmm...I am not sure about which one was made first between drama and anime as well Caddberry. Well what I know is that Tohru Fujisawa wrote GTO in 1998...and before GTO he wrote a manga about Onizuka & Ryuji when they attended college and involved in lots of fights...that manga spanned 25 volumes...

It was revealed in the volume 16 of the manga. Urumi Kanzaki doesn't really have a father because she was just a product of the multi-enhanced sperm from test tube, since she doesn't have a father in the first place, she dreamed to have one.

Yes there is, but DONT ask where to get it or if you find it dont advertise where you found it .. It's against the forum rules.
Good luck on your quest. I will tell you that the Live Action is totally worth it.. I liked it more than the anime..

It's called "Shonan Junai Gumi"
Its an action / comedy. The jokes are mostly pervert jokes, and are much more extreme than pervert jokes in GTO. However despite many opportunities, something always suddenly come up in the last minute to prevent Onizuka from losing his virginity..
I have this series in Thai version up to vol. 27 and it still does not end. I think it's a reasonably good series. I don't know if it has been licensed in English yet or not though.. Tohru Fujisawa wrote this series in 1991. However this series did not achieve great popularity in Thailand when it was first released. Only after GTO has been released, then people started to show interest in Shonan Junai Gumi. I also read GTO before Shonan Junai Gumi too despite the fact that GTO was released 7 years after Shonan Junai Gumi..

As Cadd said, the drama came before the series... the drama was aired from 1998-07-07 to 1998-09-22 clickme ... the anime was aired in 2000 as animenfo dtabase said.
Wasn't the jdrama more loyal to the manga than the anime? Someone told me that it is...

No..
Example ?.. (possible spoilers, so read at your own risk)
Quote: The vice principal Uchiyamada in the drama drives a Mercedes not a Cresta.. so "Oh my cresta(aaaaa)" thing became "Oh my Benz !!"..
No, the drama is different than manga in many things.. Anime is more similar to the manga.. (I have all 3 - drama, manga, anime - in my collection.. But I'm not a GTO freak.. or am I ?)

For people that finish manga and still remember info, please help me clarify these questions.
I remembered I finished reading them long long time ago. It's almost 5 yrs and I don't remember much toward the end (I borrowed manga from my friends btw). I just finished watching anime and I was disappointed that they didn't show all stuff from manga. There're lots more!!
BEWARE These questions contain SPOILERS!!!
Quote: 1. Does anyone remember The Daimon's Angels?! (Probably the biggest obstacles Onizuka face and it's toward the end of manga) I remember that Misuzu 's behind all this and Tokiwa Ai (martial art girl) is the member but I don't remember other members. Who's the one who burn the school?
3. What is Takumi's big role during Miyabi's climax scene? All I remember is that he's Kikuchi's email buddy.
4. Remember when Fuyutsuki's kidnapped? Makoto (Fuyutsuki's sister) and Onizuka look for her. Who's the kidnapper?
5. Who is Yoshikawa's friend that never showed up in class 2-4?
6. If you watched anime, you will see 1 episode where Kujirakawa Fuyumi (tall girl that plays basketball) has a crush on Murai. Is there another part where they show Murai fall in love with her later? I think there's but I'm not sure.
Thank you for answering and clarifying these questions.

As far as I can remember:
Quote:
1. Wasn't it Urumi? I'm not sure about this..
2. no question no answer^^
3. He beat the teacher who "abused" Miyabi and was sent from school.
4. It was that Tokyo U graduated teacher with all those Fuyutsuki posters in his room.
5. Can't remember who Yoshikawa is..
6. There was one I think, I believe they went to the cimema together but in the manga Mukai went with Fuyumi that looks like a shark and is little, not with the tall girl..
I hope this helps..

Shaking life into this topic again as nothing else really happens in here...
Er...Kanzaki's secret was revealed in volume 8, and any of you would have been able to find it out already whe she meets her former teacher (vol 7?), had you not been too lazy to pick up a french dictionary. ^_^
Concerning the fact that the drama came first: there are a few jokes playing on that fact, e g in volume 5 during one of the girls in the beauty contest says her favourite actor was Takashi Sorimachi (who plays Onizuka in the drama). Also, on the first page of vol 12 Onizuka is sitting before Tomoko and compares himself to Sorimachi.
And damnit, I will never again read a spoiler of an anime or manga that I am following. I will have to supress some of that information at any cost. Arrrrrr.

I just want someone's opinion about it. Is it worth to watch??
Yes, I've seen it .. Its AWESOME IMO.. I liked the Live action better than the actual series..
I thought the manga was better than the live action by far. I didn't like the way Onizuka was portrayed in the live action... he wasn't as blatantly "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" crazy.

Why? I'm currently getting it and I would like to know. What did they do to make it so? (I've read the manga and I've seen the anime).
PS> NauXolo, You traveled through all GTO related, You post-hunter! ;-)

Well, i guess its mainly because they have to use real actors, so they can't have him "jumping" off roofs too often. This character still has the cool bad ass "you can't beat me, cuz i dont care" attitude. but he really preaches A LOT in the live action. its cool and all, but its just really different and i prefer the crazy reckless motorcycle action such as with the kanzaki and onizuka scene. these things really show that he'll do anything for his students. i didn't get this feeling in the live action.
i don't even remember if kanzaki urumi was in this one or not.. i don't think so.
haha yeah.. well i am huh :p (a post-hunter) but i like GTO and it seems like you do too, so forgive me this time aorund (besides, i JUST finished this like 4 days ago)

Sorry, I know this is kind of old but I really didn't get into GTO until now. I got a question about episode 15. During the exam, did he really score a perfect test as in his real "exam"?
Sorry if this has been asked.

If I remember correctly... the exam that he actually physically wrote failed when Kikuchi graded it... The exam that was handed in, the one Kikuchi wrote and secretly switched with his got a near-perfect grade. Then later Headmaster Sakurai changed his grade to the perfect grade. Either case, Onizuka's test would've been number 1 on the rankings.
The live action series presents a rather different mood than the anime. The anime is like... outrageous, passonate, and horrendously funny. The live action series on the other hand is more inspiring and touching. It also has an extremely amazing ending that just makes you love Onizuka. My friend who previously did not take any interest in anime, manga, or japanese culture watched the live action series, and instantly fell in love with it, lol. Now she's discovering jpop.

I disagree. I believe Onizuka's own attempt was a perfect grade.

Hmm... I think the head master also attempted to change the grade, so that part is correct. I'm not quite sure whether his original grade was correct. I think maybe that jealous guy who was obsessed with fuyutsuki could have found out that his true grade was that high and he gave up--- but i forget exactly

lol, I got a bit curious, so I re-watched that part, and it looks like I was right. Near the end of episode 15, Kikuchi was marking his test. While he was gasping in amazement, it shows that just about every answer is circled, so clearly they were wrong answers (as a correct answer would be a checkmark)... Then Onizuka shows up and in the ensuing motorcycle ride, Kikuchi asks: "Hey, how much did you think you really scored?" Onizuka, being totally oblivious to the situation, was like "what do you think? FULL SCORE!" Kikuchi let out a small laugh and let it go... something like that.
I actually like it better this way. For Onizuka to score perfect on his own would be out of character. He's not one for academic prowess.

I remember Kikuchi grading his marksheet and he circled all of Onizuka's answers with red circles. And then went with an ironic smile - "this guy!" So it was either all correct (whcih would be a given from the likes of Onizuaka) or it would be all zero (which would also make a lot of sense given he is a bike gang member )
As for his actual score on the test - he stood first.

Exactly, I thought he got a perfect score on his own too. He even said at the end of the episode that he got perfect. I don't think he would lie about it but here in north america, a red circle usually means that the answer is wrong.
A bit confusing....ya.

Ah, I just remembered something.
In Japan, circles are always good. circle is maru. which is why they use Circle for confirmation in playstation games whereas in North American games, they use x for confirmation.
So... if you guys say that Onizuka got all circles... that means he got a perfect score.

I did a bit more research into the matter, and as it turned out, in GTO drama episode 10, at the end of Onizuka's study session in Fuyutsuki's apartment, after marking Onizuka's practice tests, Fuyutsuki exclaimed to a missing Onizuka (who had already gone off unnoticed to save Miyabi at the theme park) that he scored more than 400 points (a very good score).
At that moment, it was clear that on the paper there were lots of circles, so nauXolo was right. Provided that there is consistency between the anime series and the live action series, then Onizuka did score a perfect exam.
Oh well, I still think it was a better idea for him to have failed the exam as that would have been much more realistic and still not at the loss of Onizuka's awesome character... but that's just my opinion, lol.
