Naruto Shippuuden season 2? I was just looking around ANN and I saw this http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7293 page about Naruto Shippuuden TV. Basically it's a sequel where Naruto is a bit older and it focuses on rescuing Sasuke. Think this means that the current Naruto will continue to be filler and the actual story will resume in season 2?
Personally I think that would be quite convenient, since I quit watching when it started with the unending filler arc but I do want to see the continuation of the story.

This 'news' is like 2 weeks old...
It will not be filler anymore. But then again, I'm hardly excited since I've been following the manga every week, which is at chapter 334. The anime will take up the adaptation from chapter 238. So there is going to be a really long time, till the manga catches up (around 2 years or so)... I wont be watching the anime anytimesoon. I'll most probably wait till around 50-60 episodes get stacked up, and then I'll go in a marathon. Shonen should be seen only this way.

uh... my goal wasn't to spread the 'news,' i merely wanted other people's opinions as to whether it seemed like the current naruto would continue with filler and the second season would be the continuation of the actual storyline.
i mean, seriously, how could i possibly think i had seen something before someone else on this forum?

Well... it's not Season 2... since Naruto Season 2 was long ago.
It is technically a "new series", but not really. I've seen rumors that the productions numbers are starting back at the begining.
It is supposed to start, from what I've ready mid-February, but I also read that the seasons start at the equinoxes/solstices which would be mid-March.
It is as started above, not filler, it will return to following the manga, at the begining of the "Naruto II" arc. Starting after the 2 year time-skip.
Ep.216 of Naruto proceeded with the Anime only, mini-arcs last week, so I assume it will be until pretty close to the new Series, hopefully they will tie them together somehow.

Latest News I just watched Naruto 220 (aired Feb. 08), Which wrapped up the filler arcs and, without spoiling it for you, set up for the return to the Manga and the "Naruto II" arc.
At the close of the credits they advertised that there would be a 1 hour special, launching the new series "Next Week". Which would be Feb. 15.

...so do you think it would be better to watch 220 then move on to shippuden??
So is the anime skipping stuff that happened in the manga?? they arent picking up where the manga last left off??

Im a little confused by what you meant there? why would the manga be catching up with the anime?? isnt it there other way around?
sorry guess im just confused

Well about my Quote...
The Filler Arcs were written by the Studio and their writers, they are not taken from the manga. The Anime departed from the manga, at the point they had ended - Sasuke Retrieval: Episodes 107–135, Chapters 172–238. All episodes since have been Anime only arcs written by the studio and the manga continued differently.
There is a short Manga only arc (Kakashi Gaiden) ch. 239-245
Naruto Shipuuden Anime starts with Manga 245 (Naruto II arc). The manga is currently at ch 342.
So to answer your question, No, the Anime is not skipping anything from the Manga, except the Kakashi Gaiden side-story (history of Kakashi). The Anime created it's own arcs and stories to fill time so that the manga could get ahead of the anime again, and to a safe distance.
That is why the filler arcs are generally considered inferior. If you'll notice no one makes any progress personally, no new things are learned or revealed, nothing grows or changes with the story, just little episodic events happen with no long term impact (to avoid future conflict with the manga storyline).
That is also why Naruto is such a weak-ass 'tard since ep 135, using the same moves and tricks over and over again, in the same order with an increasing failure rate, and decreasing strength. The anime showing him losing to ninja of lower rank and with lesser skils and power than ninja he kicked the crap out of before.
He has beat or participated in beating Jounin and a demon in the past, but cannot beat bandits, thugs, chounin and genin lately.
So now, we return to the actual manga. And yes... The Manga has a time-skip. 2 or 2.5 years passes unwritten between ch 238 and 245. In ep 1 of Naruto Shipuuden and Ch 245, Naruto is suddenly 2 years older.
Naruto II (Shipuuden) starts the day he returns, 2 years older
If you saw Episode 135, you are ready for Naruto Shipuuden, as far as the manga storyline is concerned.

oops! sorry about that - I meant that the anime will ctach upto he manga. On an average one Naruto TV episode covers two manga chapters. Presently the manga is apprx 100 chapters ahead, so the anime will take quite some time playing catch-up. I calcualted and it turns out that Perriot Studio now has approx - 2 years till they can catch up with the manga. This is ofcourse if the the one Tv episode = 2 manga chapters holds true...
btw, for all those who saw shupuudien - have their been any improvements on the animation aspect of the show? Or is still the same?

I'm glad I waited to see the second series (should say that since it's technically not the second season): I watched up to episode 159 of the original Naruto before I decided to leave it be. I just finished watching the first episode of Naruto Shippuden. I didn't really notice many differences in the animation to be honest, so to say it's consistent is hitting the nail on the head, and all of the characters have grown up nicely.
So Naruto the first season was 220 episodes? For some reason it seemed a lot longer, but I didn't realize I didn't skip too much in terms of the number of episodes (well...I'm used to watching longer series, so that isn't a big gap for me).
My thoughts on the first episode: it sets up the story well, and gives an abbreviated view on some of the characters in the 2 year passage. Decent OP/ED themes and sequences, but they haven't caught along to me fully yet. For those who have been following the manga (I haven't been...I stopped reading the manga a while ago, around the aftermath of the confrontation of Sasuke and Naruto). I'm on the fence as to whether I should resume reading it. For those who have read the manga, is Naruto II shaping up to be an interesting read?

And a Naruto fan was revived.... (kinda... or maybe not a fan, but a watcher, anyway)
I waited for this for 4 days, 4 efing days! Now I finally got to watch it, they left a HUGE, HUGE CLIFFHANGER! AHHH! I hate you guys!
Still not happy about the 85 epi fillers, that's 85 weeks for fuck's sake! how can someone forgive that?

85 weeks? it felt a lot more than that to me. 85 weeks of shitty episodes, 85 weeks of crappy stores, with only 2-3 of the arcs actually being interesting. (i liked the star country one, the recent gaara one, and the one with the kid that lost his memorys.) It really was enough to make any naruto fan, wonder why the hell they sat through that hell.
They should learn from the creators of bleach on how to make an interesting side story :-p

I read ur posts and I have decided to wait it out till 10-12 episodes get collected. don't think that I'll be able to contain myself after that. Its a pity that the animation hasn't been upped - it could have used that. Kinda getting retro is you ask me.
@lost
I too left the fillers ater the 3rd story arc. The one in which Hinata and the group go out to find the bug which could help find sasuke. Hinata is that arc was just too cute.
Anyone read the lates manga chapters? Naruto has become amazingly strong . And something sinister seems to be brewing up....

It's a shame we didn't get to see Kakashi's story which was in the manga. We could've atleast see some 4th Hokage in action. Still it's a promising start ^^

The spoiler is incorrect.
Spoiler on Kakashi Gaiden
Quote: Kakashi was a pupil of the 4th hokage. The 4th's team consists of 4 members: himself, kakashi, a dude and another girl (note: i read the chinese version so i'm not good at naming) The dude is a member of the Uchiha clan while the girl is a healing ninja. On a mission, the 4th left the team at one point and the girl got kidnapped. Kakashi saved the girl but lost his left eye during the fight. The battle took place inside a cave and it was caving in. A huge boulder was about to squash kakashi but the uchiha saved kakashi and got flattened by the rock on one side himself. The uchiha insisted that the girl transplant his one good eye to kakashi's left eye. And thus kakashi got his sharingan.

Shippuuden Has anyone seen the last one that came out, i.e. Shippuuden 3. I actually loved it, especially the older characters, I was always commenting how I hated that most animes, reffering to long dragged ones, that the actual characters never grow older. I've been watching Naruto since it came out, and I love these new episodes simply because they actually matured, in skills, techniques, etc. and they grew up finally. Aside from that, it's looking very promising.

Daizengar and Chippy: There's really nothing i need to tell either of you, since there really wasn't anything wrong with what you did.
Drake: i don't need to say anything to you either because i think you got served a little.
But i will add, it wasn't called for to call him a smartass especially when it's obvious you didn't even bother reading his spoiler tag on how his version was different from yours. Keep your attitude in check.

I think after seeing the first three episodes of Naruto, I'll make the decision to continue with the Naruto II manga. (I'll retract my question from early on ^^; Sorry for the trouble).
It's working out well thus far, and the progression works well with the older characters.

@Drake, you are seriously on the route to being either getting a warning or banned with your level of disrespect and language. Your attitude really isn't called for in this matter. It's one thing to be corrected on a matter, but if you don't treat others with respect, you're violating one of the main rules of the forums. Please take this message very seriously, because you are really pushing the envelope on a matter that is quite trivial in most veins.

Drake, I'm giving you a warning for your bad attitude. There are rules in this forum and you are required, like everyone else, to follow them. You have been warned by stick. Yet you chose to ignore his warning. Thus, an actual warning against you is warranted.
If you want to continue visiting this forum, follow the rules. If you think you can continue having things your way and acting like some immature little prick, then I'm shipping you out.
