Sekirei - general discussion thread how many are following this? First off, how many people are following this? In what medium? Also, who's your favourite Sekirei?
I'm following the manga. Scanlation of course, and raw scans when still waiting for scanlations. With the amount of ecchi involved, we'll probably never see this published in North America . Never before has a manga managed to capture my interest to such an extent as this one.
My favourite Sekirei is No 1. Have they revealed the identity of No 1 in the anime yet? In the manga, this occurred prior to Minato recruiting his 4th. No 1's name is Given how powerful she is, I'm highly anticipating the moment when she finally cuts loose and pulls a deus ex machina.
Vying for 2nd and 3rd on my favourite Sekirei list are number 10 and Akizu. Heh... With a total of 108 Sekirei, I need a score card just to keep track of who's who and their Ashikabi. BTW Does anyone know Hikari's and Hibiki's numbers?
Do I like any of Minato's Sekirei at all? Other than no. 108, no! You must've guessed that already right? Who wouldn't love no. 108? She's just too cute!

I'm following the anime, and not till episode 9, due to its uncersorshipness, have I actually started to like it XD.
Its a lot like Ikkitousen, and I didnt quite like that one, with the only difference that this is a harem anime as well.
I dont know the numbers of the Sekirei XD, but I pretty much like all of Minato's sekirei, lol, they are great! Kuu-chan is VERY cute and funny, Musubi is..... well, she is Musubi XD, and Tsukiumi is so cool, but I think the best one is Matsu, she is just so sick XD.
I think there's still one more sekirei that he obtains, right? And she was introduced last episode, Kazehana, she looks strong! Stronger that Tsukiumi, which is pretty cool.
The anime itself, besides is ecchiness which I hope continues to escalate, or at least be on the same lines as episode 9, is not all that bad, I just find it retard that during the fights they seem to aim more for the opponents clothes that anywhere else, but whatever, I'm still enjoying it

The following are Minato's Sekirei and their numbers. Spoiler hidden as there are 6 on this list. So, depending on where you are in the anime or manga, decide whether or not you want to read on. If I'm not mistaken, there aren't enough eps in the current anime season to reach the 6th Sekirei.
Quote: No 88 Musubi
No 108 Kusano
No 2 Matsu
No 9 Tsukiumi
No 3 Kazehana
No 6 Homura
For those who follow the manga, No 8 was not included for obvious reasons.
BTW In the anime, have they shown No 107 Shiina, and his Ashikabi?

In the anime so far, episode 9, he has 88, 108, 2 and 9.
Does the number of the sekirei has anything to do with how powerful said sekirei is?
I was pretty sure that 3 was going to end up as his sekirei as well, but I dont know who 6 is yet as I belive she hasnt appeared so far.
My god that man has one hell of an army!!!
Not sure who Shiina is, so I cant answer that question, sorry :S
Oh! And I almost forgot again XD, nice surprise to see who number 1

Yes and no. It's definite that the single numbers are special. They seem to be the most powerful of the Sekirei. With the exception of No 2. I'm pretty certain No 2 is not capable of fighting. However, for the rest, there's no clear ranking system. No 107, for example, is quite strong. Finally, and this is only a guess on my part, but I think the climax battle for season 1 will be against the Squad, numbers
Quote: but I dont know who 6 is yet
No 6 appeared in the first ep. No 6 is the Quote: fire-using Sekirei.

So basically Minato has 4 special sekireis, lol. And I agree with you that 2 is incapable of engaging in physical combat, but I think her role is more of "information is power", as in, not all that counts is physical strength. Not to mention that thanks to her the audience is also able to understand a bit more of whats happening XD.
107 is 108's brother? 108 also looks quite strong actually, and she is the lowest number =P
I cant remember 6 now.... I'll check over ep 1 again to get a look at her.
That means that Minato Quote: has the water using sekirei and the fire using sekirei. Interesting =P
.
I'm also guessing that, as usual, the element based sekireis are going to be amongst the more powerful.
Well, from episode 4 I already anticipated, since I read somewhere it was going to be 13 episodes long, that it was going to be an incomplete season, as in, no real ending to the story. I guess they are going to do 3 season, probably. Not that I'll complain, as long as more boobs are featured XD XD.
I'm not really sure how they plan on ending this season, but that looks like a pretty good guess, and ought to be quite good too; and they'll also be solving the whole thing with Uzume and her ashikabi.

I'm watching it, and actually enjoying it. I really want to read the manga everyone seems so much more beautiful in the manga.
It's the first time I saw an anime with a female with huge**you knows in it** well at least the guy isn't ugly like I notice it anime of this genre. Minato is actually really cute, though I have a werid feeling that I shouldn't be saying that Homura is a hottie.

@angel
The manga's also a lot more amusing than the anime. There's a lot of stuff they left out.
@shinka
To paraphrase from the scanlators: "he's got earth, fire, wind, water, and probably heart. what do we get? captain planet!" And yes, 107 is 108's "brother".
Could either of you summarise for me what happens in each ep after ep 6? I stopped watching at ep 6.

@ Cranston
Sorry for the late response. We had this HUGE power-outage in the Tri-State area and it left about 750,000 people without electricity for a few days.(Me being one of them.) It finally came back on this morning, though. Also, it's pretty funny but, I was trying to make this post originally when it went out about 3 days ago. lol. It just died on me in the middle of typing. Anyways, here you go.
Eps.#7 Spoilers:
Quote: Basically, in Eps.#7 we get to meet the "Black Sekirei". Her name escapes me right now. Anyhow, she pays a visit to the Izomu(Sp?) Inn to talk to Musubi about some promise they made in their past.(To be the last Sekirei standing, or something along those lines.) The MBI Director initiates the "Second Phase" of the Sekirei plan and puts Tokyo on lockdown. Miya makes new sleeping arrangements at the Inn. And at the very end of the episode Yukari and Shiina decide to go shopping but run into another Sekirei and Ashikabi.
Eps.#8 Spoilers:
Quote: Sekirei#95(Kuno) and Haruka try to escape Tokyo despite the huge lockdown, and begin to be chased by MBI soldiers and members of the "Disciplinary Squad". Uzume(Sp?) decides to visit her Ashikabi in the hospital. During all of that, Yukari decides to help Shiina search for Kusano. Matsu(Sp?) discovers some information about Sekirei being defeated by an unkown assailant. Later in the episode, Kuno and her Ashikabi get cornered by another Sekirei,(The "Veiled Sekerei".) unaware that it is actually Uzume.
And that's about it. I can't tell ya' what happens in Eps.#9 though as I haven't seen it myself yet. ^^ Anyways, hope that helps.

Should be during the Black Sekirei's visit, ie ep 7. Thanks for the info. Let me know about ep 9 - 12 when you've seen them.
The anime's pacing is definitely looking too rushed. Covering 5 and even part of volume 6 of the manga in 12 eps.
They've left out a lot of nice bits like the following

miya's identity it reveled in volume 3 page 28 the manga, or chapter 18 depending how you downloaded it. and yea they left out a big from the manga, ever added stuff that wasn't in it and changed some other stuff ( /me eye balls the ending the of anime on that one) but they jumped around so much it was kinda annoying.

I finished the series.
I cant recall exaclty episode by episode, but it pretty much went this way:
ALL TIME SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wrote: They plan, along with Seo, the escape of the sekirei with the sueprsonic voice or something, and her ashikabi. Tsukiumi refuses to help, so the rest go, even Matsu engages in combat, in order to save Kuu, whose power just keeps surprising me. She is very cool.
While attempting the escape they are caught by the disciplinary squad, the red and blue sekirei. Musibi is killed, Tsukiumi joins the battle but is defeated, and then Yume, the destiny sekirei that was sleeping inside Musubi is awakened and beats the crap, but not kills, out of red and blue. Then the black sekirei appears and they begin fighting, but Yume declines and instead says, while the black sekirei is comeing at her ready to kill: "the one to defeat you will be...." and then Musubi comes back. Lol.
Then it ended. Uzume and Kazehana saved the supersonic voice sekrei and her ashikabi from death when the bridge collapses, and thats it. It ends. Its and interlude, no doubt about that, but what a crappy way to end it, nothing at all happened.
Also, we are told of the 4 areas, the North, the South, the East and the West, and who controls them, and Minato's sister wings Kuu's brother.
So your guess was correct.
What can we expect of the next season? Without spoiling it please. Good? Bad?

There are some story differences with the manga, but not much. However, you should check out the manga (only scanlations available right now) as it's superior to the anime. Superior in terms of art and story pacing, which are the two things which I absolutely loathed up to ep 6 of the anime. (Ep 6 is as far as I got before I threw in the towel.)
BTW How/why did the bridge collapse? The way you described it seems to indicate that the story diverged from the manga at that point.
At a guess, at the end of the anime, Minato's got 5 Sekirei. The beginning of the next season should start with him trying to wing his 6th Sekirei. This takes roughly 1 whole manga volume (roughly volume 7) but the anime (judging from the 1st season) could squeeze it into 1 or 2 eps. Currently, there's insufficient material for more than that (volume 8 hasn't been published yet), so it may be a year or so 'til the next season. However, in my opinion, we're still only seeing the beginning of events.

I'm sort of lazy to check the manga out XD, and the anime didnt cought my attention all that much.
Anyway, the bridged collapsed because not sure if its a spoiler, but just in case wrote: of the MBI satellite which Matsu had hacked but couldnt mantain control for over an hour, so just when the fight was over, the satellite went back being controled by MBI and opened fire, destroying part of the bridge.
At the end of the anime Minato has 4 sekirei:
Quote:
Musubi, Kuu, Tsukiumi and Matsu
So the next season will probably be, about half of it, Minato obtaining his 5th and 6th sekirei, and then some story development, lol.
I thought the manga was more advanced, oh well, we'll just have to wait till next year until we get to see the next season then. I wont be loosing any sleep over it though XD.

The difference in the manga is
Quote: After Yume awoke, the Red Sekirei made to attack her. Yume shot a beam of light from her palm which destroyed the bridge whilst purposely aiming to miss the Red Sekirei. That scene was absolutely jaw-dropping, also when Yume picked her up with one hand and threw her away. Just by seeing that you realise that Yume belongs to a whole new level.
Kazehana was supposed to be winged at the end of that battle.

Lol, as usual, there are considerable differences between the manga and the anime.
I rather how the bridge was destroyed in the manga, it has a greater impact, and
Quote:
Yume picked up the red and blue sekirei, one in each hand, and threw them away, just like that, so that effect remains. She is totally awesome.

I'm a little late but yeah, I'm now caught up with both the anime and manga. I really wish the manga could come out faster because the story has gotten really good and I can't take the suspense anymore. This anime/manga quickly became one of my favorites.
As for favorite characters, I really like Tsukiumi's design. I'm not one of those people who have a thing for blondes(I like all girls equally-blondes,brunettes,asians, etc) but you have to admit, she's just sooo awesome. The actress who did her voice acting had a lower voice than i expected, but she's still my favorite sekirei by far. I almost feel sorry for her at times that she's probably second to musubi in minato's mind, despite her feelings being so genuine and strong. For someone who normally has so much pride and expectations for herself, she must really like minato to put minato above all those things. It's no coincidence she's also the most possessive of all of minato's sekirei. I think Minato and Musubi are a great anime couple but it breaks my heart to think somewhere down this fictional life of theirs Minato would make a choice and my favorite girl would be heart broken.

i downloaded chapter 76 in mandarin just yesterday. the story has gotten so interesting i wish they were coming out every week instead of every two weeks. i haven't been able to find english scanlations of chapter 76(or 75 for that matter) but that's not too bad since i can read mandarin.

So can I, but there's something different than when I read the manga in Japanese or English. *shrug*
Anyway, as for the story, isn't it interesting that the Sekirei can feel the emotions of their Ashikabi? If this were a hentai, Minato would bed all his Sekirei! I don't think he'll ever make a choice, as you put it, as he needs to care for all of them.

Actually, i agree that chances are minato would never have to make a choice between his sekirei and he would be able to enjoy a polygamy relationship with them all(bedding all his sekirei is only a matter of time, say when they move out and no longer have to live under miya's restrictions). I still feel for tsukiumi a bit(maybe i like her too much) because even in polygamy, she'll always be second to musubi (it's pretty obvious during the whole segment with kuno that minato loves musubi the most--i won't go into detail because i'd be spoiling the story but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about), and i feel like tsukiumi deserves to be first.

I'm not much into hentai, but I can forsee an increase in the amount of hentai, doujinshi and animated as well, for this series.
My coment was more of a joke, lol, but I wont deny it annoys the crap out of me the unrealistic nippleless boobs.

I started following this not too long ago. Initially I wasn't too impressed as Musubi and Minato are the typical stock characters, but the series grew on me.
I do like Tsukiumi's character, though completely stock in design and less so in personality. Still, I find her interaction with Minato and the other Sekirei to be hilarious at times, especially with Kuu-chan.
