No one can say for sure - atleast from where we are sitting. Most comapnies remain rather tight-lipped on developements on upcoming anime. Even if they do come out with information, it would be most probably on Japanese language sites.
But consdiering from the huge fan following FMP! enjoys in Japan (and abroad), a 4th series would most likely be welcomed by almost everyone. Now it remains for the anime studios to decide. But considering how many popular series (GTO, Rurouni Kenshin) have not had follow ups - it would not be surprising to have no more FMP franchise.
I really hope there is a followup. This is one of my top5 favorite anime =) Up there with gundam seed, fullmetal alchemist etc and a 4th season would make me so happy, happy indeed.

Gday Guys
I just finished watching the whole series of Full Metal Panic, and can't say i was dissapointed! I'm very new to the scene, having seen only Gundam Wing, Ghost in the Shell SAC, AppleSeed and now this, but i still reckon that this one is incredible! Despite the aforementioned shortcomings.
One point I have to agree on the the scene with Sousake and the hooker in Hong Kong. She looked incredibly like Kaname. A possible representation of her in Sousake mind? Or maybe just a coincidence.
(My apologies if it wasn't in hong kong )

Coincidence or the screwed-up mind of the scriptwriter. She's there for the same reason there are 2 naked assassins, and a near naked high-school girl by name of Chidori.

I really enjoyed TSR and while I'll agree that some of the coincidences were a bit contrived I really enjoyed the development of the characters and the action and plot progression. I hope there is a new season but what I really hope is that if there is it doesn't hit the reset button on the relationship in the first episode as so many animes seem to do.
A lot of the criticism here has been focused on the villains and while I'll agree completely with much of what has been said I would point out that TSR has never had particularly well developed villains. It's not what we watch it for and since they move the plot along I think they were fine; no worse or better then the Gauron or the fake sister/brother thing with 'some nice guy tried to teach us wholesome values so now let's kill everything...' of the 1st season or well, the complete lack of a villain in FMF.
The Series' strengths have always been an interesting premise combined with well rounded main characters and an engaging story line with an excellent set of good guy side characters thrown in for fun. All the good stuff is still there and even if it combined a bit needless nudity the action kept me on the edge of my seat through out. Actually its almost a plus that the villains weren't all that compelling because then we would have felt bad when they got killed off. All in all I'm really looking forward to seeing more.

This thread is so old. The last post was almost 2 years ago. Normally I'd prefer if you simply started a new one. But I'll let this slide.

Character development? I didn't even notice any character development. Oh, you mean Sagara-chan developing into some sort of "emo" boy? While that did make him more "realistic" as a human being (afterall, humans do have emotions), it certainly also made him less fun to watch. I preferred the original in the first season, and the way they played off his quirkiness, and the mix of comedy and action. TSR tried too hard to make him human, and as expected, humans fall and fail. So did TSR as a result.

You mean the whole FMP franchise? I would like to disagree here. At least Gauron was better developed. As a villian. And while I may allow Gates did not have enough episodes to develop his character (TSR was only 13 eps long, IIRC) he still came across as an imbecile.
FMP - Fumoffu was not meant to have a villian anyway. It was supposed to be all-out comedy.

Again I disagree with the villians part. They are supposed to be compelling, interesting, well-developed. Otherwise, killing them off would feel as satisfying/fulfilling as killing some nameless cockroach.
