I spent the last three weeks drinking a minimum of 2 liters of beer a day. Afterwards I would, maybe, drink some crappy whisky or vodka in mixes and who knows what the heck else. It was so much fun, except my stomach decided to act on my very last night, preventing me from getting wasted till my face was disfigured XD.
Fun summer though.

The doctors all say you need a minimum of 2 liters of fluid a day. So it's good to see you're consuming sufficient fluids to keep you well hydrated.
I'd die if I had to drink so much beer. Either the allergic reaction or the resultant itching would kill me. Heck, I might even scratch myself to shreds first. I believe it's the hops they add to it while making beer. I mean, I drink whiskey. And I don't get any problems. Wine, which I occassionally drink, doesn't give me problems either.

It's not that you're not funny. But I'd prefer not to be a "bad influence" to the younger ones around here. Forums rules state anyone older than 13 can join up. I can't imagine someone so young reading what I just wrote and starts telling his mom that since beer costs less than bottled mineral water, why don't eveyone in the family start drinking that instead.
And mind you, it's true that in some places bottled drinking water (mineral or distilled) costs more than a locally-made beer.

In that case:
Kids, what uncle ken said is true, doctors recomend 2 liters (0.52 approx US gallons) of liquid, preferably water, so as to cleanse your sistem.
The joke in ken's coment is in that alcohol, despite being a liquid, would be no good as it dehydrates the sistem, thus it is not a suitible solution.
Ergo, stay with water, regardless of how much it might cost. It'll keep you alive.
Side note: I new about water being something of a luxury in some countries, where even coke is cheaper. When I first heard about it I found it ridiculous, but thats because my country has one of the world's cleanest water so water is something I had always thought of just being there. Thats what happened when you can drink water from the tab.
Funny side note (Continued): In a world economy which is evolving into a resource based economy, and the probability that the third world war will be for resources, water included, we already know we are screwed. Good thing we are doing a fine job at contaminating our only natural resource that worth something

Despite my love for whiskey, I never had a chance to have even a single sip during the Chinese New Year holidays. It was either cheap table wines (a friend had several bottles that he ripped out from gift hampers his company received from sub-contractors) or brandy (which I don't quite like). Been quite intoxicated twice already in the past 3 days, but been able to drive home the next morning after a night of playing cards and chatting. Brandy on rocks and a glass of warm water. Alternate sips between the two. Didn't quite enjoy it. But it kept me sober for longer.

To get the job done, i.e. drunk, I prefer the hard stuff. I had an absinthe night with friends 2 years back and we had 2 bottles of absinthe, one was 89.9%. We were hardcore back then...
But for taste, I would say cider, love that stuff, Magners and Koppleberg - ohhh yea. People do say it's a girl's drink, so I guess I am officially a girl :-/

Absinthe tastes excellent.
Well, you do have to drink it with all the ceremony stuff though. Were you actually drinking absinthe pure? If so, I don't know what to think: "What a waste ..." or "Wow!".
I mean, pure absinthe? Nothing tastes good above 60%. There's a couple of rums that are nice at 50-something as is absinthe, but I've never drunk anything that tasted remotely good above 60 pure.

You know Freddy, you've been gone so long I can't remember if you're a boy or a girl anyway.
But anyway, as fnord said, nothing tastes good anymore above 60%. It just burns my throat. I have a full life ahead of me (or at least several decades) so I prefer to take good care of my liver, 'cos that's the only one I have.
Was drinking Martell the other night with a bunch of friends. I wanted a Chivas but everyone else wanted the a Martell. So it was Martell with green tea for me.

You know Ken, I've been away for so long I'm not sure if I'm suppose to be a boy or a girl on this forum, I think this is a forum where I was a suppose to be a boy...
Anyways, yea the absinthe burned my throat for a while. I don't think absinthe tastes that bad despite being strong, I mean vodka at 40% tastes worse, argh.

Since when? I've been drinking it for a long time and it's quite a favourite among my mates here. Especially Rattler.

Vodka? I always take mine with lime juice. Or orange (but it tastes better with lime juice).
A friend drinks Japanese apple cider regularly. In small doses. She says it's good for health. Her dad drinks the same stuff. They share a small bottle a week. I mean, a small bottle lasts them a week! Wow. They must be very thrifty.

There is good vodka, just not the cheap stuff. Don't go for russian vodkas, czech and polish ones are better. Scandinavian ones are also good, but they are a little too even for a vodka in my opinion. Absinthe tastes great, but you miss out on the taste by drinking it pure. The way you're supposed to drink it (with ice water 1/1 or 1/2 and burnt sugar) is better imo since it makes the licorice-taste smoother and all the little details more apparent that you miss by having it burn down its way down to the stomach. No matter how high quality and tasty, if the alcohol content is too high it's simply too hard to make the taste out I think.
Well, maybe I should practice more. I read the other day they picked up a guy with 6.1 promille a couple of kilometres from where I live and he survived well enough. Told the police that "one bottle of liquer in the evening is the norm" and that if there's an event "it can go up to 2". Apparently didn't even need serious medical attention. I bet he's able to tell what things taste like at 70%+.

Lime? Over here it's usually Coke/Pepsi that people to for when having Vodka.
Orange being second. Don't know any one who has lime though.

I'm tired and bored so I decided to post here.
I noticed Ken mentioned getting itchy from drinking beer - I'm the same way.
I prefer hard liquor - but it takes a lot to get me drunk, despite my small stature.
I never really drank anything before I turned 21. =/
Sheesh...it's hard to believe I joined these forums when I was 16. O_O

Around here, Vodka drinkers have it with good ol' OJ or cranberry juice.

I think the vodka with lime/orange/cranberry combos should be alright. They're all acidic juices, aren't they? Should give similar "feels" to the drinks.

Vodka should be fine with just about any juice, especially since it has such a neutral taste. There are probably juices less suitable for this than others (apple juice for instance) but any sort that has a reasonably strong taste should work.

No. I'm merely someone who rips open gift hampers from contractors and takes the bottles of hard liquor for myself, leaving the other stuff to be shared among the lesser beings working in the office.
I've got quite a number of bottles at home, yes. But not enough to make my home look like a bar.
BTW, that was a hint.

Really? We are? Oh my, how could you say that?
BTW, IIRC, none of my bottles were ever opened. I'm keeping them for posterity. I don't usually drink at home anyway. It'll be good if I can keep them till my kid gets married and I bring out these then-vintage bottles and serve them at the VIP tables. All other regular guests get to drink the cheap stuff.
Any other citrus juices you'd recommend for mixing with vodka? Would pineapple and vodka be nice? I'm curious, but not enough to risk my own taste buds trying out this combo. WOuld someone be kind enough to take that risk for me? Maybe you could Aval....

You are evil because you made me give in to drinking. lol j/k... My father says the same thing about his own collection. He has a number of Black Labels, 30 year old Ballantines that he has been storing up since goodness knows when. I asked him to open one up when I was home - he told me that he will open it at my wedding. Talk about destroying the entire mood. Marriage - yuck!
As for vodka, I prefer it unflavoured and neat. xD I tried out those citrus vodkas by Smirnoff 5-6 months back - I did not particularly enjoy them. In the end, best way I enjoy vodka is sitting with my friends on each side of the table and having a shot competition with them. We reached ten last time.

Hey, marriage isn't all that bad. At least you get to party yourself crazy the day before at the stag party.
And you have someone to serve you your daily drink after that. Preferably if she wears a maid costume and she looks like Aoi-chan.

I tried that a while ago. Didn't like it. The Pineapple juice didn't manage to dominate the vague potatoe taste of the vodka, so it ended up tasting really weird.

I prefer vodka with carbonated drinks. It feels better on the throat. I even mixed it up with Mugs and Sprite. The taste is pretty good and not dry on the throat.

So OK, pineapple and vodka is out the window. But vodka with fizzy drinks seems a good choice. I'll remember that the next time I go get wasted.
We'll see about my kid's wedding. It's kinda too early still. He's still only 6, and those bottles are like 5 or 6 years old (not counting the years they've been lying aroun d somewhere else) already. Anyone ever tasted 50 year old whiskey? I might end up drinking them before then. But yeah, it's a tradition to provide hard liquor during a wedding. It wouldn't look good if I didn't.

Happy St.Patrick's Day all!!!! ^^
I thought it better to put it her as there will be plenty of Booze today, well for me anyway Although, I don't like drinking Guinness on St.Patrick's Day even though that's the one drink I drink more than anything normaly, I just feel like a conformist when I drink it on St.Patrick's Day but I will probably just end up on Guinness as I always do and then the Jameson's Can't wait!

You sure? I thought wine should suffice, and not hard liquor. You can get wasted pretty fast, "kan pei" on every table you visit

For the tradiotional Chinese family, most will insist on hard liquor. Some "modernist" families go for wine or champagne. I just walked around the tables with the same glass of whiskey, barely topped up twice. I know how to pretend as if I had drunk enough.

Quick question. You guys ever get sick from mixing your drinks? Like drinking wine, then beer then hard liquor (in any random order). I don't like mixing. If I started with wine, then I stick with wine throughout the night. I stay off beer, always, for the sake of my health. If I am on whiskey, it doesn't matter if I mix it with Coke or soda or green tea or just plain water, but it's whiskey for me that night. I somehow seem to feel icky when I mix stuff. It's not the a matter of how much I drink for the night, but it's the mixing that gives me an upset stomach.
