Shit like this has been going on since the release of the Nintendo DS so I'm not really surprised an article like this has been made for the Wii.

Yeah, well, I'm running the risk of sounding prejudicial, but that is just so US.

Remind me not to let my kid play Pet Society on Facebook.
Or talk to strangers in school.

That is true of any online community, game-related or not. Internet forums are not spared. Heck, I could be a 200-pound, obese, pedophile out to prey on cute little 13-year-old female nfo members and you wouldn't know it.
But for them to pick on the Wii is just so lame. Why not pick on Maple Story? Or WoW? Facebook? Because they're American? Not sure about Maple Story, but Facebook is definitely an American entity. So they're being loyalist? Want to pick on something outside of the country?
I could be wrong here. Being paranoid about their seemingly overzealous patriotism. But isn't the coincidence a little too alarming?

I don't really think they thought so far, to be honest. In my recollection it's more apparent when US pop culture makes a go at xenophobia. Imo they just hit on the first thing that came to mind.
Just looking at the Fox News extract should be proof enough that this is mostly just a random story they cooked up to fill air time, like "Is your food really safe?" or "Ten household chemicals dangerous to your baby".

Thing is, they should have exercised more discretion and "thought really far". It just goes to show they were too lazy. When the whole world watches their news programs, they really should have put in the effort to do their research and present something meaningful and accurate. This issue really have made them look stupid and sensationalist.
But then again, they're not the BBC.

Should I cry? Or should I laugh, I dont know.
And doing em both at the same time might be/look scary and I dont feel like scaring people that much(at least not at the moment)

Well fox news already had lost my respect when they reported on that mass effect sex scene. Fox reports on a lot of really stupid stuff, that doesnt seem well researched and only has a very biased view.
