Paramore finally warmed up to me after a while, and I didn't know much about them either. I think it's because I like the lead singer's vocals too. She can really belt and I didn't realize how old she was. A lot of their songs tend to get stuck in your head. I know the first time I listened to quite a few of the songs on "Riot" they were stuck in my head for about a week. "Misery Business" especially.
***
Not listening to anything at the moment, but the last few CDs I listened to were Chris Cornell's "Scream" and U2's last album "Nowhere on the Horizon". U2's was alright, but I wasn't fully taken by it. I could definitely name a few great songs there, but I'm tempted to compare it and I think that's why I couldn't really get into it as much.
...I'm not going to talk about Chris Cornell's album. It made me so mad I ended up writing a rather heated rant about it, too long for the sake of this thread. I've never really been very mad about any of the music I've listened to, critical maybe, but not mad. I can usually respect art for what it is. But this? Made. Me. Very. Upset.

Technically listening. Nodame Cantabile OP. I've got the MTV and it's playing, and the volume's turned on pretty loud but Media Player has been minimized as I'm working on something on MS Word right now. Besides, it gets tiring looking at ink stains on the piano. Much better to be just listening to the wonderful song.

I'm listening to an audio rip of Rentrer en Soi's last live show. Over 2 hours of angry J-Rock and blissful VK ballads.
Current track is Just Mad Pain
So sad this band is no more...

Uninstall, Bokurano OP, by the ever amazing Chiaki Ishikawa. Before I downloaded the MP3 from my usual anime MP3 site (no, I'm not naming it here), I had to resort to playing ep 1 of Bokurano and "rewinding" to hear it again, and then it was only TV size.
I don't know, but her voice is really something special. I don't know how to describe it but it's just how it is.

Really liking Vidoll's new album, Esoteric Romance . Now I just need to free up some space on my media player for it.

Listened to a bit of Monkey Majik, specifically their album "Time". It was very good - I don't think there was a track on it that I didn't find myself enjoying rather notably. "Goin' Places" and "brokedown" have been stuck in my head for the past couple of days.
I've been trying to clean up my digital music collection, so I'm listening to a lot of albums that I've had for a while, but haven't had the chance to listen to. It's probably just as well since I have a bit of a break for the next couple of days or so.

Precisely the same thoughts on a first listen..they definitely have given better works than this..
Well this time I am going to ask for some albums of these artists those who listen to them.
Best albums of :-
Keane-a friend who is a Radiohead fan rates Keane as #2 of his favorite bands.
Lamb of God-and I hope this band doesnt employ loud vocals-growls like Pantera,etc...and how is Slipknot..is it the same in terms of vocals like Pantera etc?
Other than that listening to some random songs from Led Zep,Iron Maiden-especially Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Phantom of the Opera-2 epic metal tracks..I havent heard a full album in a while..I mean no new artists or albums apart from U2's latest..
and how is Bullet for My Valentine?

by the way can any1 remember the name of the japanese band which is composed of only females and has a song with "shangri la" in the lyrics?
I remember i saw their video in which there was a twister game theme, but when i searched for shangri la so many things come up, except what i'm looking for.
also, i don't think anyone out there sings quite like onitsuka chihiro. I find her voice pretty soothing.

chatmonchy perhaps? A 3-piece all-girl group. Would help a bit more if you could describe the song style as well.

I saw that a while ago - I actually loved it, especially considering how much emotion she puts into it. Her vocals strain a bit, but you kind of have to give her some consideration because she had vocal surgery a bit before that time if I recall correctly. Her voice has been affected by it since, but it hasn't stopped her from performing or releasing new material.
Then again I might be biased because I love and respect her work for the most part.
She's actually covering Tori Amos' version of the song, so its drastically different from the Nirvana rendition if referencing that as a comparison.

I've heard of Dragonforce, but never really listened to them. Actually heard of them around the same time I started listening to Rhapsody, which is a group with insanely fast, enthusiastic metal with a fantasy thematic to their lyrics. I think Dragonforce is pretty much the same deal, just that I heard more of the latter than the former.
Then again, I could be confusing them in my mind with another group.
I haven't heard them in a while, but Rhapsody's pretty awesome. Good for making a big grin go across your face if you're into that genre.

Listening to Mikuni Shimokawa's cover of "Cruel Angel's Thesis". She released a Best of Anime works compilation a while ago and had both her contributions to anime alongside covering some popular anime songs in themeselves. She did very nice covers of both that song and the theme song to Utena, to my pleasant surprise.

Hump de Bump of a post.
Still kind of listening to a mix of things to mellow out between busy days.
I've been alternating between Fleetwood Mac and Mint Condition this past weekend. I know a lot of people love their "Rumors" album, but I always found myself loving "Tango in the Night" - I guess because several of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs (i.e. "Little Lies" and "Isn't it Midnight") are on that album. Mint Condition I grew up listening to for a long time, and basically I listened to a bunch of songs from their "Life's Aquarium". "This Day, This Minute, Right Now" is kind of stuck in my head as a result.

After watching Football Factory I have really got back into Ska for some reason. Been listening to a lot of Madness, Specials and a bit of The Beat, I really hated Ska when I first heard it a few years ago but now I have grown to love it. Same thing happened with Punk, I wonder why that is?

Listened to Green Day's new album 21st Century Breakdown almost 3 times over-superb stuff..and after a hiatus of 5 years they did not disappoint..hard to pick which is the best because all are good nearly-Know Your Enemy,Behind the Lobotomy,Viva la Gloria(wonderful lyrics, melody),American Eulogy(this song can become cult and can beat American Idiot),the title track itself and many more..
What more the album has 18 songs to satiate its fans..

Is that the one with the song "Know Your Enemy"? I've not heard the rest of the album (and most likely never will), since all the radio stations seem to only want to play "Know Your Enemy". For as many days as I've had possession of that rental lorry to move my stuff to the new apartment, I've been listening to that song being played almost once every 2 hours on English-language radio stations. That's like 3 days x 6 hours driving (3 songs within that period) = 18 times over. Pretty good song, but not a breakthrough in terms of style I guess. You could tell it was Green Day the moment you heard it. Their style has hardly changed. Maybe that's a good thing actually.

Funny you should mention that, the local radio station had a Green Day special featuring an interview with the band. They played about 6-7 songs from the new album. Really good stuff. I'll definitely grab that one tomorrow when it comes out.

Yeah, Green Day's album is nice from what few tracks I've heard of it thus far. I'm actually glad they're staying consistent with their overall sound, but "Know Your Enemy", while a good song, is probably not my favorite of the ones I've heard so far. Great choice for a single though, has some of the same kick-punch grit that some of their songs in the past few years have had. I'll need to hear it all before I choose definitive favorites.

There are better ones than "Know Your Enemy" on that album? I wonder why then, that the radio stations are promoting only that one.

@Ken, I think it's because "Know Your Enemy" was the song they decided to release for the first single, if I recall. They're pushing it pretty heavily on the radio stations where I am too, and since their album just came out this past week, they're trying to push the single as much as they can to go through the album. I ran errands quite a few times this week, I heard that song at least a handful of times.
I think there are a lot of good songs on their album so far (I've heard about 5 songs), so it's hard to say whether or not "Know Your Enemy" was the best to choose for their singles. I think they're playing it a lot since they just released their album not long ago.
***
Listening to "Smiley Faces" by Gnarls Barkley at the moment. I think the reason I like Gnarls Barkley as much as I do is because they have a retroactive sound that still sounds modern. Song has subtle layers that build upon themselves, and Danger Mouse did a nice job on the production values I think. I like Cee-Lo's voice like This is one of my favorite songs from their first album.
Other songs I have playing at the moment:
Chihiro Onitsuka - "King of Solitude"
Queen-"Hammer to Fall"
Kraak and Smaak- "Squeeze Me"
Poets of the Fall - "King of Fools"

I think it's quite the coincidence then that I actually had a chance to hear Green Day. I almost never listen to the radio. Even when I'm at a shopping center, where they play radio music through the PA system, I hardly even notice. One of those rare instances when I'm driving a rental vehicle and I don't have my CD-R collection of anime MP3s and have to listen to domestic radio, I chance upon Green Day. They're not my favourite, but they are better than a lot of crap floating out there. I'm hoping to get a chance to hear Depeche Mode though. I think they have something new out and I hear it's pretty good.

I've been listening to a lot of The Kills lately. "Midnight Boom" was a very catchy album and I liked it a lot, but I find that I liked their earlier material just as much if not more. They have kind of a modern punk sound with a leading female vocal. I went through "Midnight Boom" one more time the last few days, and "Black Balloon" has been stuck in my head for a while since.
@shulin, good call on both frank zappa and miles davis. I'm kind of the same way in that I'm open to different types of music too, just depends on my mood.
