Best Anime of 2008 In your opinion which one is?
Note series from 2007 running into 2008 wont count.
Here is a list from a blog:-
http://psgels.blogsome.com/2008/12/31/2008-summary-part-ii/#comments
I am sure everyone would have CG R2 as #1 on their list.. havent yet watched that so cant comment.
A top 5 if not a top 10 from each member here would suffice-would also enable others who havent watched good series to check them out later

Hey. I live in Singapore. Stuff from 2008 won't get here till like maybe a decade from now.
Just joking, but you get the idea. I won't be able to vote on what's best for 2008. Haven't been able to see anything new.

I don't like putting things in a sort of highscore, so my Top 5 is unsorted:
- Garden of Sinners
- Mouryou no Hako
- Xam'd
- Shigofumi
- Kannagi
I haven't seen Daughter of Twenty Faces yet, but I plan to. I also really like Casshern Sins, and would most likely replace Kannagi with it, but it's still too much in the middle of the run for me to allow judgment.

Based on 2008 criteria, I'd name 5 series that stood out to me. I kind of cheated by looking up all the release dates to see if they matched 2008 and not 2007-2008...found out it took out over half my list. Ah well.
5. Code Geass R2
4. Antique Bakery
3. Spice and Wolf
2. Nodame Cantabile Paris
1. Kurenai
Series I haven't finished, but would have otherwise included on this list: Allison to Lillia (probably takes R2 for my #5 slot if I could rank it) and Kaiba (Excellent series, beautiful story and characters, but I think the animation turns a lot of people away from it. I like it a lot though.).
Haven't seen Daughter of Twenty Faces, but I'm working on it. And I really need to see Bounen on Xamdou...urgh. I forgot that was made this year and it was one of the ones I wanted to watch.

it usually takes me a while to catch up with the newest anime(i'm a busy guy) so i haven't seen a lot of anime from 2008. of the ones i have seen i can only list my top 3.
Sekirei<--surprised this one isn't more popular than it currently is as i see it becoming really popular real soon. not just some ecchi anime because the story gets quite intense.
Casshern Sins <--pretty cool animation and i like its tone; i find it appropriate
Tentai Senshi Sun Red/Astro Fighter Sun Red<--not listed on animenfo.com for some reason. the manga is quite old but the anime is new. i think this should easily be the best comedy of 2008.

1. Minami-ke: Okawar
2.Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
3.Chi's Sweet Home

Havent seen much anime of 2008,in fact I think I havent seen any series barring Spice and Wolf-should be counted as a 2008 anime.
Want to watch these for sure:-
Mouryo no Hako (I dont know how you watched this fnord,it hasnt been finished fan subbing yet)
Xam'd or Bounen no Xamdou
Daughter of 20 Faces
Kurenai was a decent watch for me and of course I have Paris Hen to watch from episode 4 onwards.
On the cards R2,Allison to Lilia ..
Kaiba ..main thing is the weird animation but storywise I have read in few blogs its very innovative and entertaining..especially for a sci-fi futuristic show...maybe might watch it..
Lots to watch but not enough time sadly..[/b]

I watched only until episode 7. Still, it can't be bad anymore. No matter how it ends, it will remain a memorable show. I dropped Kaiba after 30 seconds once because of the art, but I've picked it up again and must say, the first episode was very visionary. Definitely a show worth watching.

2008 was a really subpar year in terms of anime. Not much really
1. Lupin III: Green vs Red
2. Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
3. Spice and Wolf
4. Chaos; Head
5. Nodame Cantabile Paris
I will probably edit or add more later.

Yeah, this is one of those series you have to accustom yourself to the art and see it for what it presents the whole way through.
I'm on episode 7 of it now, and I'm very surprised by how good of a story it really is.

1. Casshern Sins
2. Toradora!
3. Mouryou no Hako
4. Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae
5. Shikabane Hime
6. Xam'd Lost Memories
7. Ga-Rei -Zero-
8. Linebarrels of Iron
My top 3 titles for 2008 are chosen based on my opinion of them offering something 'new' to the anime fan. Casshern Sins is particularly well executed and stands a high chance of becoming a classic with its excellent cast of characters and amazing sci-fi setting. It started off with a lackluster first episode but it hooks you quickly from the third one on. Ga-Rei also deserves an honorable mention for having the most original first episode, EVER.

Zero no Tsukaima
Shakugan no Shana
Claymore* based on a magazine
Code Geass
Linebarrels of Iron

Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter
Spice and Wolf
Code Geass R2
Kurenai
There's a lot more that I liked but since this is a "Best Anime" list and not a "Favorite Anime" list, I only included these. Best and Favorite are two very different words for me.
