L'Arc~en~Ciel Live in Paris!
They're perfect. I can hardly hear a bad live performance of any song from the band since 2004. ...I really have to hear them live.

Wokies! I think I know why I am enjoying Porcupine Tree this much. Its the variation in the melodic structure of almost every song that makes the songs this enjoyable. To top it off, the melodies keep on mixing in the songs themselves which gives them a sort of "salad bowl" sort of feel - each time I listen to it, I keep on discovering a new melody. To give an example - even after listening to "Somewhere but not Here" over 20 times, I still can't "humm" the song in my head because the song goes through so many variances through out its run. I just can't keep the song and all those melodies in my head and keep forgetting some of them. The same goes for the other songs like "Deadwing", "Anesthetize" and the other long songs. So each time I listen to it, its as if I am listening to it for the first time! Hmmm... I wonder if all this makes any sense.
Anyways, I'll be trying out "The Sky Moves Sideways" or "In Absentia" soon. For now, I am listening to Aftermath by Rolling Stones. Good stuff!

With the purchase of my new car, I got 6 free months of Sirius Satellite Radio. Awesome stuff. There's a channel for every genre and decade. I especially like Lithium and Octane, which are 90's alternative+grunge and hard rock respectively. There's always something I like and I can discover plenty of new bands. Plus, I can listen to it online in my apartment.

A playlist of various songs, 20 total, and I'm not going to really expand upon them that much since it would be longer than my average post to explain why I like them. XD I set my Itunes library on random and just let it play.
"Best of Me" by Chrisette Michelle
"Goin' Places" by Monkey Majik
"November Has Come" by Gorillaz
"Talk Shows on Mute" by Incubus
"Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones
"Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry
"Crazy" by Oblivion Dust
"World End" by FLOW
"Gimme Some Lovin'" by The Blues Brothers
"Smile Again" by Every Little Thing
"雙飛" by Peter Ho/何潤東 (Not sure what the song translates to T_T).
"Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac
"Nothing's Gonna Stand in Our Way" by Spectre General (what are the odds that a Transformers song would be in here? *shakes head and smiles*)
"Crazy Maze" by Desree
"The Train" by Frank Sinatra
"Sakura Kiss" by Chieko Kawabe (theme to Ouran High School Host Club)
"Howling" by Abingdon Boys School (theme to Darker than Black, odd that two anime songs played back to back, but I have a lot of them to account for)
"You Know What It's Like" by Gabriela Anders
"For Once in My Life" by Stevie Wonder
"I'll Make a Man Out of You" (not sure whom the original artist is, but it's from Mulan - I have a number of Disney songs in my playlist XD)

Now that Australia's Next Top Model cycle 5 is over, I looked on their website to get some photos. I found out I could download the elimination song: Different World by Denis Carlhan (not sure I spelled his name right). I also watched the Ausntm Finale and found out about Jessica Mauboy. I got her song, Burn.

The Hilltop Hoods - Chase That Feeling
The true masters of hip-hop. Everytime they comprise new material it gives me pause and almost makes me cry. I applaud them for never having to sing about the things that hip-hop is notorious for or the terms that comes with it. Pressure and Suffa are the perfect combo of MCs. They know when to be gritty and they know when to be soulful. The sampling in this gem is subliminal. The symphony arrangements in this are just magical. All in all, if the will of the human spirit was to be summised in one piece - this would be it.

Chrono Cross OST.
I'm always fascinated by the bass lines of this OST. Frozen Flame's definitively one of my favourites. Yasunori Mitsuda is the man.

I think if you liked "Deadwing", "In Absentia" should be to your liking, Aval. And "The Sky Moves Sideways" is very well done too.
Funny you mention "Somewhere but Not Here" because that's one of my favorite songs on Deadwing. The different inflections of the melody are one of the aspects I really like about it, and even if it it's a little hard to latch onto, I think it's as you said, it's like listening to it for the first time as you go through. I don't know if I could describe it as a syncopated melody, but I think those variations really make it stand out.
***
I've been listening to an electro-pop Spanish group called Belanova. They actually explore different veins of electro-pop through their albums. Specifically their first album "Cocktail". The song I'm listening to now is "What a Shame", which is actually in English. The beat is pretty chill through most of the song, and I actually like the transitions in melody. The lead singer has a nice voice, but I have to admit that there are other songs on the album that showcase her voice more than this particular song.

Listening to Ai Otsuka's Ai Am Best Album. I love Momo no Hanabira, Sakuranbo, Cherish and Planetarium.
Speaking of Kpop boybands...
I'm not really into Kpop and Boybands, especially Asians, the ever popular Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese boybands. There's something with their dancing and singing that I can't fully appreciate especially with Japanese boybands. That factor can be seen less in KPop though. But I'm really amazed with TVXQ...haha. They're actually the only Asian Boyband I hold great admiration for the great vocals and dancing. Hero being pretty is a also a great bonus!
I don't hate Kpop, I appreciate them. Just not into downloading their videos and stuff to fangirl over them. Hehehe...except TVXQ. I even downloaded their random TV guestings.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JACKS MANNEQUIN WERE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously that was the greatest experience of my life! Take that as a reflection on my life rather than the band if you wish but the band were phenomenal! When they played "Mix tape" and I was jumping up and down I actually thought I was in a perfect moment where my life could get no better, I was in a dream like state through out it all and still can't believe I was there it was awesome!
I didn't like that it was in a university though, and I didn't appreciate being surrounded by 500 students but I don't think they appreciated my "Working Class" jokes either, I was actually called a Marxist
Seriously if Jacks Mannequin are coming near you, GO SEE THEM. Andrew is a musical genius!

Listening to Imogen Heap's new album "Ellipse". Made me realize how much I missed her music. I enjoyed "I Megaphone" and "Speak for Yourself" quite a bit, and this so far isn't any different. She has such a ethereal (if I could say that) voice that's soothing.
Pretty much it's within the same vein of what she's released before, but I can tell she's expanded slightly within the same progression. "First Train Home" is nice to listen to casually, probably not one of my favorite tracks from her personally, though. "Wait it Out" and "Little Bird" are beautiful, loved them both. "Earth" and "Swoon" are quite catchy as well, nice rhythms accompanying them.
Edit: Just finished the whole album; it's very nice and I found it, collectively, a pleasant listen . My favorite songs from the album are "Tidal", "Wait it Out", "Little Bird", "Swoon" and "Canvas".

So, after much deliberations and after being recommended, I tried out In Absentia by Porcupine Tree
To be honest, I was quite cautious about In Absentia in the beginning. In retrospect, my reasons were silly (at best). I was under the impression that what they tried with this album was to become more accessible "normal" crowd and produced songs of smaller length with a more pop-ish sound. Well, the first point could be debated upon. In Absentia is certainly more accessible than say Deadwing or Sky Moves Sideways but it certainly more heavy. Anyways, coming back to the album - I really enjoyed it. My most favourite tracks would be .3 (the ambience of this song is just amazing, its like being in a haunted house or something) and Heart Attack in a Layby (oh the tragedy!)
I got the concept behind the entire album but if there is any story, I am still in the dark here. All in all, its a good album. Not as good as Fear of a Dark Planet IMO, but it is a good album. And am glad that I tried I out!

Listened to some random System of a Down tracks. Also:
Delgados - The Light Before We Land (Gunslinger girl opening actually)
Delgados - Woke From Dreaming
You british people, or anyone else, tell me how popular Delgados is for those who haven't watched Gunslinger Girl. Just wondering.

Back in 2000, Richard Kingskill, who ended up being head of Triple J, called the Delgados album Hate as his #1 album of the year. Haven't listened to it myself, but Kingsmill is usually a reliable opinion.

Backspacer-Pearl Jam new album-not as good as their earlier ones-no album can beat Ten IMO but it was still a good listen for what it was worth-Eddie's vocals manage to charm as always.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's new album-forgot the name but it was nice to hear them after a long time. Only thing missing was maybe those epic guitar solos-that was prevalent in Free Bird mostly.
Also happened to sample 2 Rammstein songs-Rammlied and p**y.

They're quite popular, particularly in most well regarded music critics and depending on what music spectrum you swim. They probably have a much larger following in the UK than the US, I imagine, but I can't speak from experience.
@Last: I could see why "Hate" could be named a #1 album of that year - it really was that good. I enjoyed it as well.
****
Random music note: I had no idea Wolfmother reunited. I saw their new album for pre-order on Itunes and had to do a double take. That's great news considering their first album was very nice. I'll just have to wait until that comes out to hear it.
I'm listening to High and Mighty Color's "swamp man" album : the new lead singer for High and Mighty Color actually has a very nice voice. I admit that I'll miss Maakii's vocals, but it seems to have been a good transition for the band, and the album is quite strong as a result. Their music seems to take some steps in a heavier direction (noting "XYZ" and "good bye" specifically, but I don't see too much variation compared to "Rock Pit" and "Go on Progressive"), and HALCA (the new female singer) has a clear, resonating vocal that compliments the style and arrangement. Yuusuke's still Yuusuke. XD "7.2", "eyes" and "fly me to the other moon" are a few of my favorite songs from the album. "XYZ" is okay...it's not really my cup of tea. I don't know what about it didn't click with me.
Listening also to Muse's "The Resistance" album. But I haven't heard it all yet, so I can't give any set opinions on it so far. Well, except for maybe one, I think "Uprising" isn't really that great of a song. It kind of wears on you the first several times you hear it. Then again it might not be one of those songs meant to play in a set stretch. I mention "Uprising" with a bit of an apologetic tone, because I know a lot of people actually like this song, but it didn't really click with me.

@Last & Rose
I too could see that it could be named #1 album of the year, at least in it's own genre. I might even consider buying it if I see it.
After listening to the track 'All I Need Is Hate' or whatever it's named I'm seeing some heavy influences from The Beatles.

I was actually listening to Sakura Drops earlier today. It's been a while since I've heard it so I think it's a nice coincidence.
I like her too, quite many of her songs I play often, including Passion, Kiss and Cry, among others.
***
Listening to Do As Infinity's album "Need Your Love". Specifically Robot and For the Future
Also listening to Gabriella Cimi's cover of "Echo Beach" off and on. I think her cover of it is probably my favorite cover of the song among the ones I've heard.

Argh Paramores new album is out but not over here yet!!!! I'm listening to the new tracks from the album on their site and they are brilliant, but I want the entire album, Ignorance is so brilliant, the best song they have ever done in my opinion, so the other songs on the new album will also be brilliant
Also really gotten into the Jam, I never listened to them before as there views are different to mine, but then I realized my favorite band is the Clash and they are polar opposite to most of my views, so I started listening to the Jam and there pretty good.

Zefiris, thanks for the reminder on the Paramore album. I guess I'll have to search it out when I get home from work.

I'm listening to the new tracks from the album on their site and they are brilliant, but I want the entire album, Ignorance is so brilliant, the best song they have ever done in my opinion, so the other songs on the new album will also be brilliant
I have it, but haven't listened to it yet. I'm hoping it's worth the wait (I had it on pre-order.) It was one of the ones I was waiting for in terms of the new albums coming out.
@Wolf_Brother On Muse's album, neither did I. I'm kind of glad that I was able to listen to it before I decided to buy it. It's not one of those albums that I'd necessarily come back to, personally, and I felt a little disappointed. I respect them for trying some different venues though.

I'm taking some time out to listen to the new Pearl Jam album. Haven't had an opportunity to listen to it yet, but I'm hoping it's a good one. I'm also re-listening to a few albums (The Dead Weather's "Horehound", Clazziquai Project's "Mucho Punk", Imogen Heap's "Ellipse") back and forth.
I haven't heard anything from Eddie Vedder actually since buying the "Into the Wild" soundtrack a while ago - I still play that album quite a bit from time to time and love it.

Nope, just the regular. I don't think the deluxe edition comes out until next week where I am, and I might just get it on Itunes because it's in the new LP format they have there. Then again, I don't know if the deluxe edition for the physical copy is the same as that. We'll see.

I believe - Mika Nakashima.
I can't get it out of my head after watching Ryusei no Kizuna. Mika's character in that jdorama is so...random.
