The funniest *single line* in an anime Anything that grabbed your attention and really made you want to watch the rest? I was thinking about this the other day, how after Ep 2, Dojin Work could have been completely blase, and I'd have watched it all the way through just to see if there was even one more spark of the genius that came up with the line (Plus delivery) of "Miss, you dropped some porn."
Of course, it turned out that the series managed to consistently draw out the most outrageous situations with Tsuyuri delivering such lines consistently throughout.
The sense of humor here is kind of like Azumanga Daioh in that way, with Tsuyuri doing Osaka's job of delivering fantastic lines with impeccable timing to make an otherwise slightly funny situation into something completely over the top.
I mean I'd realised that the humor was good already with the opening conversation on the bus of the start, but that really "set the tone" for me.
Anything that struck you that way? Please share!

I have been watching Toradora! and this line just made me laugh so hard that I had to pause the anime just to post it
"Don't sexually harass other people's parent's!"
Brilliant.

Brilliant.
There's a line in Karin (manga at least) that went "Don't sexually harass the grandchildren." *shrug* Personally, I liked the one where Karin was screaming "The love-com plot progression daydreams have got to stop!" at herself.

I didn't necessarily see it in an anime, but I did see the quote on one of the funny demotivational anime posters on youtube. Sad to say that one didn't have a URL, or else I would have posted it in the funny pictures thread.
I think this is from Lucky Star and the quote was "The normal folks are shunning us!" (And then the caption on the poster was something along the lines of: This is what happens to people who watch Anime)

The fansubs in one episode of Nyan Koi (I think it was episode 8 ) translated a line as "It's your fault! You put a ho before a bro!" I don't know if the original Japanese quite said that, but it was was amazingly appropriate yet caught me completely off-guard...

@Zitch: DAMN! I'm going to have to watch that again, cause I don't remember that!
@Cranston: Hmmm. I'll have to put that on my Manga "to read" list. (It's still a relatively short list though.) Pretty sure that line isn't in the anime, but I can see where it might come from.

I think I remember that one. I also think I replaced that sub with one from another group on account of too many liberties taken in translation. Another similar translation was "Enough with the misery moe already" when the original japanese was a more simply "Mou kanben shite" or something like that. Still, kudos to them for having a sense of humour and imagination. Can't say the same for the subbers for Princess Lover. It seemed as if none of them could do proper translations.
Speaking of Princess Lover, it wasn't anything they said, but the scenes with Teppei and Charlotte going to disarm a bomb tickled my funny bone. Like when she suddenly pulled a chainsaw out from no where.

Best line like this I can think of at the moment is "We need an idiot" from Soul Hunter.

Funniest? That's tough.. And I can't recall even the line.. But.. In Black Lagoon where they are running from the chopper in the boat.. When they crash kinda Revy lets out a slew of cursing and that cracked me up .. There are a few good lines in that show.. I just can't remember them now..
That's one of my favorite series actually.

In the english dub of that episode, right when the torpedo hits the chopper and the scenes cuts to Rock giving the bird, he says "YEAH! YOU GOT FUCKED!!!"
not funny per se, but it was kick ass.

I was right about where the sexual harassment comes in. The event is in the anime as well. I think that I've seen the love-com line now, there have been a couple of references. I'm doing a quick skim through of a scanlation, so it'll depend of course on who's doing the translation.

Kyon, In The Melancholy Haruhi Suzumiya has many great lines and overall, his narration and way talking is one strong points of the series. here's a particular line that made laugh and play the scene over and over again (from episode 2)
(in response to Haruhi stating the main ideal of the SOS brigade)
"the whole world became to a freezing halt... Just kidding!" The build-up and the way it sounds in japanese is just perfect. (Te jyukaa, uso pyoni, or something like that)

Tomoya's interactions with butt monkey Sunohara in Clannad are much more amusing in that regard.

Interesting point there, though I think that the best of those was while Sunohara and Tomoyo were in conflict, and Sunohara was getting the crap beaten out of him (and he kept coming back for more.)

While Clannad is funny, the comedy isn't really one liners (same with SHnY). In fact some of the best parts last like 2 whole episodes for example
Quote: When Okazaki convinces Nagisa that Sunohara is gay for him for an episode and continues the joke into the next one.
Still one of my favorite moments in anime; however, sadly, it isn't a one liner.
I really enjoyed hearing the english VA of Shinji Ikari say "Bullshit!" in an episode of Eva. In the japanese he says "father" so the dub really caught me by surprise then and I laughted my ass off for about 3 minutes after words.

@veleon
That sequence in Clannad was fun. That reminded me of the much shorter sequence when Ryou thought Nagisa was asking her out.

"He ate my pencil..........HE ATE MY PENCIL!!!" Cromartie High, I just could not stop laughing after hearing the line and I had to watch the rest of the anime.
