Angel Beats (spoilers) So I finished this last night and thought that it should have a topic of it's own.
A generic question first. Did you like it/hate it? I thought it was overall well made and was touched by some things even though it had an comedic feel to it overall. I can't name another anime that's as emtional as this that's made recently. Then again, I don't watch that much anime so it's very possible I might have missed something.
Next I have a plot question. What was up with that programmer guy? It seemed like the purpose of that part existing was to satisfy Yuris desire to protect others. It feels like I missed some details for the plotline. :/
Finally this anime felt rushed. So much story in so little time. It should have been a 26 episode series instead of 13 and it could have included more backstory of other characters. Where are TK's and Shiinas backstorys? If it had been longer, some relationships would have seemed more natural, most notably Yuzuru-Kanade.

My pet theory/speculation is that the 2nd season will be pure character development of the remaining cast.
Anyway, in regards to this anime, while I did like it, I can't say that I would watch it again. The humour and action made it memorable, but the touching emotional stuff were few and far between. For example, the ep (or 2?) about what's her name, the genki paralysed girl. That was heartwarming, but there isn't enough of it throughout the series.
No, I think Clannad and Kanon were more special and memorable than Angel Beats. But a large part of that is due to Kyonichi.
I can't say I understood the point of the programmer arc, other than as a tool to get everyone to leave the school so that the series could end.
You know what really gets my goat? How did Kanade get there before Yuzuru when he died first?
Something which pleases me: The subversion of what I once termed as the Law of Moe Undesirability.
P.S. Now I'm wondering about the entomology of "gets my goat".

2nd season? I'm not so sure if there's a point making one. OVAs on the other hand could be much more possible.

I watched everything in 2 go's and I thought there was just enough of the emotional stuff.

I wondered about that too. I have a theory: the laws of time don't apply the same way it does in the real world. Or maybe Yuzuru didn't enter the afterworld immediately after he died, thus allowing Kanade to get in first.

What's that?

It's something I posted in the anime cliche thread. I termed it the Law of Moe Undesirability. It went along the lines of "the most moe character is ultimately the least desirable romantic choice".
Let's see if I can find it...
Ahah! Here it is:
Quote: In any given harem environment, the most moe character is never the male lead's love interest. Examples include Tessa of FMP, Honoka of Suzuka, and Shinobu of Love Hina.
1st corollary - The same also holds true in non-harem environments unless said moe female also happens to be the ultimate weapon in the universe (aka the Rev Factor).
2nd corollary - Most anime males are sado-masochists, always chasing after the most violent female interested in him. This is because physical abuse turns them on. This is also known as the Keitaro Premise.
Hm... On second thought, Kanade could conceivably fall under the aegis of the 1st corollary, therefore the Law of Moe Undesirability still holds true.
P.S.
Speaking of the Keitaro Premise, there's a series this fall called MM! which is most likely about a guy who is an unparalleled masochist.
