Sad to say, this place is on its last gasp.
There are maybe 5 guys posting left.
Including Wolf who still takes the time to create new database entries when I ask for it.

Tis a damn shame! I have a couple of anime communities that I've been with for a considerable amount of time that have dwindled to almost nothing and it's a sad state of affairs but that's life on the internet for you!

Sounds like a lot of boo hoo hoos. Haha, get out there and advertise or something.
I'm not in sync with all the internet trends, but perhaps the 'posting in forums' era is heading on it's way out now. Who knows? At the very least I've made some really good friends on here that I am still in touch with and if I ever get a chance to meet them if I'm in there part of the world, then I know I'll try!

Good thing he is too. I've had classes for the past few months, so I asked if he could do it until I'm able to do it more often. I'm hoping to get back into it soon.

Oh trust me jazzjack, I remember when you got here, I've been through a lot here, getting banned for trolling TWICE, gotten notoriety and possibly hatred as well, but I miss all the fun and excitement of this place.

Belated...extremely belated...but Happy New Year folks.
Nfo has always been my most fondly remembered forum and community...glad to see some of the old faces are still around.

Where is everyone?
Seriously, when did the community fall apart in the end?
Do people still keep in touch via email or social networks? If so, I would be very happy if someone could offer a few contact options (via PM), I'd really like to know how everyone is.

No idea where everyone went off to.
Maybe people were no longer interested in anime and just stopped coming.
At the same time, there isn't any new blood.

Real life.
Facebook.
Instant chat(mirc, msn and what else there are).
I guess these 3 are the prime suspects.
*edit*
And well... there are more sites that offer information over anime, naturaly they all have their own forums and "unique" flashy stuffs that makes them "better" than the rest.

been about three years since I last posted something here. it's kind of sad that this forum has all but died... had some good times here. I really miss watching anime, and all I have time for now is occasionally reading manga (one piece/bleach/naruto/HnI) online. Pretty much "real" life took over and that's probably where a lot of people went. Kind of hard to go on anime marathons when you only have a couple of hours of free time a day.

Yeah, people just move on. I randomly post every once in awhile but there isn't much to talk about really. Mostly I've been doing school and real life stuff.
Admittedly it would help if supers was more involved

Well, make it 6 people that are posting now. I'm trying to get involved, since the two people I've met so far are very nice and have a vast wealth of knowledge I look forward to chipping away at. Pleasure to make all of your acquaintances.

I'm still around, though I mostly lurk around on the main site and I've never really been a big poster on the forums. The problem is most other similar sites like MAL now have a feature rich anime list based approach while animenfo's anime list function is still primitive, and the site hasn't introduced any major new features for 5+ years. And as it no longer has the thriving community it used to, there's nothing here to attract new users. So it's not surprsing we're at where we are now - old users have moved elsewhere or even grown out of anime, and we're not getting any new blood.
I've actually signed up to other sites too but I still hang around for old times sake. It makes me really sad to see the site in this current state :'(

^It's unfortunate that there's no one around to do the programming to upgrade the site. Still, it's awfully nice of supers (I think) to continue footing the bill for the site.
What are the inhabitants of MAL like?

It's like facebook - almost everyone is on there, including all the lowest common denominators of anime fandom (MAL seems to have attracted more of these than any other site). Still, there's a constant buzz of activity, and even though I don't get directly involved with the community much, I do like just being around the buzz, if you know what I mean.

It was funny you mentioned Facebook Kaj, because you WERE the person who brought me to be active on Facebook.com. One of my friends asked me to sign up for FB on 2008, and I did sign up, although I never really knew anything about it. Then I think in June 2009 you added me and messaged me through my Facebook, asking "are you Charn from AnimeNfo.com?"...then I accepted you as a friend on FB and started becoming active. From then I found so many friends who I have lost touch LONG time ago and we were glad we met again on FB.

Charn! How many years has it been? Still watching anime? Still playing the piano? Still playing anime OP/ED on piano?

I thought you would have already read the “People I Miss” thread. If not, my post should be the last post in this thread as of today (21 July 2012) if you follow this link:
http://www.animenfo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14646&start=495
In fact, I better copy and paste what I wrote:
Quote: Wow, long time no visit!
Thank you for all the nice words my old friends here had for me in various threads.
Well, there are many reasons why I am no longer active, but let’s not talk about it; it is no longer important. What is important was I have met many nice people here, had very good time here for two years (end of 2004 to end of 2006 when I left the site), made many good friends here, and my writing skills improved…a lot, from joining this site. And only for these four reasons, I do not regret becoming part of this community.
There were many good contributions I have made, and also many downright naughty ones, but that only proves that I am just a human. What’s important is I learned and matured from my own behaviour and that proves useful to shape who I am as a person today.
I am usually busy these days. I work, as well as manage my own business, as well as doing many other things. But I keep in touch with my friends on Facebook.com. If you guys want to add me on my FB, then please feel free (although send me a message first telling me who you are so I don’t decline your friend request!). As to how you will find me on Facebook…I guess if you have a basic detective skill, it shouldn’t be too hard to trace me. I am also friends with many good friends I have met from Nfo over there (such as Kaj, Rose, Ken Hayashi, Amaryllis, Shireen etc). So maybe you can find those people first, then through their friend list, you should find me. Last time I checked, I am the only Charn on Rose’s friend list
Farewell to you all.
As to your questions, the answers to all of them are no, no, and no. My interest has now changed to other things in life.
So, here goes my last post here. I shall take my leave for now. Hopefully we will meet each other on Facebook.com. If not, however, I shall say…Auf Wiedersehen.

Hello guys.. I am alive as well. Admittedly, not as much into anime (not that I have lost interest - its just that I am now aiming into a PhD and that keeps me busy). Still keep following Shonen Jump religiously though.

Is there a reason we don't have an AnimeNfo facebook page?
If anything, everyone is moving to that and (unfortunately) forgetting about forums.

upgrades on the database and probably some advertisements would also work.
