Damn, can't they just leave animes as they are? We already have Jay Chow playing as Takumi in Initial D. The point of Animes is to escape from reality for a while to live in someone elses...

Hmm that's a shame, one of my ambitions is to make a Saikano-like movie... maybe by the time it comes to it people will have forgotten this version and mine will be fresh :S

Actually I'm looking forward to it too... Maeda Aki was really good in Battle Royale, and I'm sure she could make a good Chise. And unlike Western films the teenager (17 year old Chise) is being played by someone nearer the correct age (Maeda Aki will be only 20 by the films release).
It really puts me off when I see teens in films being played by 26 year olds. It's not simply the look of the person, it's the fact you know they're playing someone they're not, whereas a 20 year old (or younger, whenever it's being filmed I don't know) still knows the feelings and emotions of a late teen I'm sure.
I'm trying to find this film on imdb, but I can't see it. Does the film have a title yet in romanji, masahiko?
I hope the film is quite long too, let's say 150minutes of more... I just feel that this story to be as powerful as the anime needs a lot of time to develop the characters and the tension of the world they live in (such the developing war).
EDIT - sorry, does this "実写映画「最終兵器彼女」" mean there are photographs already from the production of the movie? If so I'd really like to see

I don't like live action of animes, simply because of the phyusical restraints placed on human actors. I liked Saikano because it could potray such realistic war tales yet maintain a cutesy manga style.

Certainly wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I watched it fearing the worst but was pleasantly surprised that it was a pretty decent movie.

Hmmm... Can't find info about it, but I'll keep an eye peeled. Here's hoping that it's a good show.
EDIT: That should be that I can't find info that I can read about it...

IMO it was bad.. really bad.
I liked SaiKano, though I was obviously prejudiced thanks to the good (great) guitar music dominant in the series. I know that the story really sucked, it was all a plot to make people with no reality perception cry and so on, but it still had good music.. which is enough for me.
The live action movie didn't have that. Plus the acting really sucked - something very hard to achieve when it comes to anime.
It did have one good thing though - Chise was portrayed by a cute chick \o/
