What about Cowboy Bebop the movie ? Do I need to see the tv series before seeing the movie ?

Cheers.

Cowboy Bebop definitely deserves the hype it has been getting. It is an excellent anime to watch.

As far as the movie goes, I found it to be really disappointing in comparison to the show. I didn't find that it had the same flow as show. It just seemed to drag on and on, which contrasts to how well the series flowed. If you do plan on watching the movie, watch at least to the point where Ed is introduced (essentially all the major characters by then). A lot of people claim that it takes place after or around episode 23, so you might want to watch it once you get to that point.

Very Happy Thanks xenn and Doff, they seem like some interesting animes.

AnimeNFO says Love Love only has 8 episodes, so was it still shown on TV (is this number of episodes unusual?)?

I would also recommend Koi Kaze (like xenn said), but in my opinion it's not that similar to KGNE - I just liked it loads Smile

Thank you. I'll add that into my next month's purchase list, as I think it's worth getting the DVDs.

Anyone know about Get backers ?

I know it.. and I love it. Very Happy Actually, I got bored watching it (I was at episode 12) because I thought it was plotless (or has a shallow plot)... at first. Bear with the uneccessary episodes and you will see there's actually a story, especially in the middle and in the end of the series. When I finished it... I wanted more episodes Crying or Very sad , though it's long enough... 49 episodes all in all. Very Happy

I saw it. The manga is longer (I didn't read it).
It is an average action/fighting anime with some comedy in it where the characters are some sort of superpowers
Well, there are the reviews for this, so what I can say is that it is worth a look. It is not one of my favorite but since you seem to like fighting animes you could enjoy it.

By the way we have already a hentai recommender.
I appoint myself as a fighting anime recommender.

*EDIT* Blue Scarlet wrote before me...

EDIT #2:
Savage Monkey (#48798) wrote:
I really enjoyed Green Green Sad - I'll check out Ping Pong Club though, thanks for that suggestion! Very Happy

Ping Pong club is the silliest and most stupid anime I've ever seen.
And I've enjoyed it a LOT but there are some ehm... vulgar scenes.
Another very silly anime is Sexy commando Sugoyo.
If you want to laugh a lot there is also Jungle wa itsumo hale nochi guu.

Sexy Commando Laughing
Hale and Guu Laughing
Ping Pong club Laughing

the funniest anime ever in my opinion.

A question for people who know about Gundam.
Can I watch Gundam seed without knowing anything about the previous series?

Thank you so much blue_scarlet and Bardack. Um...maybe I am misunderstood. I don't actually like action animes that much.. I used to like action animes when I was like 8-12 yrs. old.. lately I couldn't come to like any contemporary action animes. e.g. Hunter X Hunter, Outlaw Stars, Flame of Recca, Inuyasha, or even Rurouni Kenshin (Reminiscence OVA is an exception) I still like old action animes I've seen when I was young..maybe it's nostalgia thing. Currently my taste is onto romance.. so let me try only 1st DVD of Get Backers first. If I don't like it then I won't continue on. ( I don't download animes coz I'm scared of virus.)

Thank you very much anyway..

I don't know why I wrote 2 different messages, but I say 2 different things and by the way, since the post count has been removed, you can trust me, it wasn't my intention to spam to reach Freddy C's number of posts (like I could).

I fixed it.

dunno about get backers, but i think cowboy bebop was bad, really bad. if you are looking for story, DON'T watch it, if you don't mind no story plus good characters, then this will be for you.

to put it simply, it's like to heart, without romance, plus sci-fi action.

but opinions on this are very divided i think. for me, you could be wasting your money on buying the DVDs, maybe borrow it from someone first, like the first 2 episodes, that's pretty much what the rest of the series is like bar the last 2 episodes.

I've seen Cowboy Bebop and I think it was kinda cool but defienetly not what I had expected. So I agree with Freddy. Borrow the first episodes or something so you don't waste your money on something you won't see anyway. But if you like things with no real story and no character development... go ahead

No i don't agree with you guys, cowboy bebop is something you definitely have to watch. Sometimes you don't need a story to have a good anime imo.

with that.... it's pretty weird. Cowboy Bebop definitely contains action... LOTS of it. There's not much romance. So, I don't think you'll like it as well...but it's a good anime (for me)

I'm somewhere in the middle with Cowboy Bepop and it already ranks as one of my favourite anime series. The characters are great, the "flow" of the show is great, the comic parts are great and the best of all - the music is EXCELLENT. Cowboy Bepop's soundtracks are the best of all anime and this is an unbeatable fact.

Besides watching Cowboy Bepop I currently watch "light" pointless comedy series like School Rumble. I also watched Girls Bravo (season 1) and Dears while they aired and they were more or less okay but I wouldn't waste a lot of time on DearS - IMO it was only interesting while it was like 1 ep/week.

So, could I get any recommendations for comedy series, preferably.. Ecchi! series.

PS: Green Green = death. The people who created it should jump off a cliff :/

If you're a fan of comedy/ecchi then you've probably already seen it, but I must recomend one of my favorites: Golden Boy.

Best comedy series IMHO are Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. Supposedly, Urusei Yatsura is one of the most well-written comedic animes if you understand Japanese (lots of puns and jokes about japanese culture). I don't, but I find that it is still one of the funniest around; so much crazy stuff happens. Ranma is more into slapstick than any other kind of comedy, but it is still well done (it does have its ups and downs though, considering it spans over 160 episodes).

BTW, I have a bias towards Takahashi anime (except Inuyasha), so you might want to take my recommendation with a grain of salt.

Its a lot different than Black Heaven. Not nearly as openly comedic and a lot more realistic, it targets a hopeful youth rather than a regretful adult.

I've seen the first episode, have the second waiting on my hard drive, but I've really enjoyed it so far.

Is there any anime in this world where evil side actually win and main "good" characters are slaughtered to death? Besides Berserk? If not I would like to see something with deep plot, with philosophical, psichological and inteleactual details.

OK, then. I'd like to see a hentai with (a lot of) lesbian scenes, good animation, NO tentacles and demons, NO rapes (if possible), NO perverted men who abuse girls and the less men around, the better.

Does a hentai like that exist ?

Well, hhmmm, Green Green in my opinion is a good ecchi series.
There are better around tough (imo). My favorite is Iketeru Futari. It is a short series so it could fit your tastes (16 short episodes).
Ping Pong club has some ecchi in it but it is sometimes VERY vulgar and the characters are very strange (I don't know your level of guts about these things). For example one of the characters shows his "thing" to win (even against girls) at ping pong matches.
I recommended other very funny comedies above and I repeat:
Sexy commando sugoyo (very weird)
Jungle wa itsumo hale nochi guu

By the way the animenfo warrior thing just suits your avatar.

@Garretty:
thank you

Romance (/ecchi/comedy) recommendations ^_^

@ Vicious (ecchi/romance): Mahoromatic, Hand Maid May, Happy Lesson (not so much ecchi, but recommend anyway), Photon, Onegai series, Tenchi Muyo OVA, Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito, DearS, Video Girl Ai
@ Savage Monkey (romance): Same here, but not Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito (ending is quite depressing), Aa, Megami-Sama, Da Capo, Karekano, Memories Off (hen series though ^^ but I liked), Narue no Sekai, Crest of the Stars (maybe), Vandread, Gravitation

@ Xenn (cosmo stuff): Kiddy Grade, Outlaw Star, Nadesico, Crest of the Stars, Z.O.E. 2167 Idolo, Vandread

@ ahp: About comedy, imo all ecchi/romance are comedy as well. What is so bad in Green Green? You like ecchi, but not extreme? Or not slapstick? Tenchi Muyo OVA, Photon, maybe... And Yami to Boushi...

Anyone knows good parody stuff or/with black humor (is it nice definition? similar to Quentin Tarantino films) with cute drawings? Like Nadesico, Galaxy Angel (I like these so much)

If you like Nadesico, you are likely to enjoy Vandread (if you haven't alreay seen it).

I've seen it but I didn't like it (the same as Nadesico). But, apart from that, I saw no romance.
The characters don't even know what men and women "do" together.
There is only a girl that have a sort of infatuation about a boy, but there is not a kiss or something like that...
In my opinion that is NOT romance.

The best parody I recall seeing is the hentai Sex Demon Queen...it's funny as Hell, the erotic part means tentacle and stuff...not as in La bLue Girl and some lesbian action...in rest...FUNNNY/PARRODY stuff.

I'm planning to watch a mecha serie but I don't know which one is better, neon genesis or rahxephon? I think those two are the best from what i've read. Can someone help me?

@Micho: Thanks for those recommendations, lots of new names there for me. I'm slightly worried about watching ones like "Da Capo" - it sounds like it's really "unreal", with magic etc. How much do these things affect the love stories...hmmm... maybe I should just close my mouth and give new things a chance, I'm probably being too picky.

I will prepare a simple equation

Evangelion < RahXephon

For me.. RahXephon totally just crushes evangelion into dust..

Rahxephon, in my opinion, is probably the better of the two. Great animation, excellent plot, and well-rounded characters. But then again, I haven't seen Evangelion.. Embarassed

I've seen both and personally I think that RahXephon is the better one.

Ready to go for hentai if it's funny ^_^
I have one hentai only (it's even not in database) and it's a parody stuff - Ninja Girl Karakuri (?..)
Not bad, I liked it ^_^ Though don't know if this's as good as Sex Demon Queen... I'll try to find ^_^

Bardack, you can't see romance in Vandread?.. what is romance? I think it's about love stuff and this kind of relations. Couldn't see that? Though it's not guiding line here...
Don't like romance? Guess you like only serious stuff... Serious dramas maybe...
You could say so.

@Micho:
I'm a romantic man instead but I like romance only when it is done properly (according to my standards). My favorite anime is Maison Ikkoku (my sign right now) and apart from being very funny, it is romance.
Vandread can be romantic for kids. This is my opinion of course.
Serious dramas... I like very much REALLY FUNNY anime instead. And dramas about love tend to piss me off (like Saikano) so I don't watch them.

The fact is that I found the anime romances I began to watch boring and sometimes annoying.
Well, if you could suggest me a good romance where characters are preferably not too young (but it is not a must) and that is pretty cheerful (I don't like depressing love stories) but not as pointless as Vandread or Nadesico, I'd be grateful.

For example I'm watching Onegai Teacher now. Despite some episodes are definitely boring (and i skipped them) I found 3 of them very heart-warming. Something like that I'd like to watch.
And I also watched Boys be and I liked it. Midori no Hibi too.

Arr... you're w/o anime list...
well, don't blame me if I mention something you have
Aa, Megami-Sama
Chobits
Gravitation (great anime, great music)
I wonder about Happy Lesson, it's funny but maybe you'll find it stupid... dunno
KareKano (definetely, great)
Mahoromatic (may be boring sometimes with all these mecha, but not bad overall)
And my favourite, Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito. It's funny, heartwarming but depressing... if you don't give it up to 7 ep... ^^ risky
That's all 'non-kiddy' stuff I've seen. I have some anime unwatched in my collection, but if I find it worth, I'll post here.

Cross request for you (besides Maison Ikkoku) ?

Thank you, I'll check the titles you suggested me.
I've seen Aa, Megami-Sama and KareKano (funny and the characters DO something).
The others are new to me.

Besides maison ikkoku, onegai teacher, boys be, midori no hibi and the 2 above that you remembered me I don't have any romance to suggest (i've just checked my anime list I have on a file).
You can find an important love story in Ayashi No Ceres but it is also a fighting anime.
In fact my favorite genre is fighting/action/superpowers and very funny/silly. I already recommmended here the best funny animes I know and if you like fighting animes I can suggest you something but i have the sensation it is not your genre.

??? how can I see the reviews that other people do and their anime list without entering the reviews of a particular anime?
