Manga : Hikaru no Go
|
| | Shindou Hikaru was just your average 6th grader who, while rumaging through his grandfather's attic with his friend Akari, finds an old go board. Figuring he could probably sell it for a pretty good price, he pulls it out and starts cleaning it up. However, he discovers blood stains on the surface that, no matter how hard he scrubbed, just would not go away. Not only wouldn't they go away, but apparently he was the only one who could see these stains. He hears a ghostly voice, and before he knew it, a spirit appears and enters his consciousness. This spirit is Fujiwarano Sai, a genius go player from the Heian era, whose love for go left his soul unable to rest until he could play again. Now, with Hikaru's help, Sai is finally able to play the game he loved too much to leave behind. And Hikaru, in turn, is introduced and led through the exciting world of igo, meeting many obstacles along the way, as well as friends to help him along.
