| Inuyasha, the manga that everyone loves to hate. If Inuyasha ran during a different period where it isn't so dominated by action adventures, it would have fared much better. That isn't the case. As a shounen, Inuyasha is pretty mediocre, but with the wide range of lovable characters and interesting relationships, it is a huge success as a slice of life, and the manga does have a great balance between its slice of life and action. However, as the series develops, it starts concentrating a lot more on its shounen side.
Well, the shounen parts aren't all that bad. Some of the villains are pretty interesting, such as Sesshoumaru, and at times Kikyou, Naraku, his minions, etc. The fights can get pretty interesting at times because of the unique weapons, techniques, and concepts that are brought up over the course of the series. Miroku for example has within his palm a cursed black hole that can suck up anything he wants in an instant, Kagome carries with her the ability to purify demons with a single strike of her arrows, Sango is an expert demon exterminator that carries with her a wide variety of weapons hidden all over her body, but is most notably known for her giant boomerang, and Inuyasha who carries with him a sword with a wide range of supernatural abilities.
There is a great load of potential for there to be some epic grand battles. Well, that is where the good ends, and the bad begins. The main goal of the group is to collect shikon fragments of a jewel that can grant great powers to those who possess it. Somewhere deep in the middle as the fragments become less of a priority and powering up Inuyasha's sword called the tessaiga becomes the most important thing to do, the group swarm through hordes and hordes of demons almost in a villain of the week fashion. They have their daily fights with demons and occasionally fight Naraku. In fact they fight Naraku a lot. In fact they fight him waaaaaay too much.
The action part of Inuyasha feels like your typical 80's and 90's action cartoon where nothing is resolved, and the villain escapes the brink of death only to come back for another round against the protagonists. The manga adds variety to its fights though with upgrades to weapons and a sense of purpose to them, but for the most part, for a manga spanning 56 volumes, it gets really repetitive, fast. It really spoils the fun of the final battle since you still wonder to yourself if the guy is gonna escape again. The action parts of Inuyasha had tremendous potential, unfortunately it utilized it in one of the worst possible ways.
Now, like Rumiko's other works, characters were always the highlight of her mangas, and Inuyasha is no different. While the action shounen parts of this manga are pretty mediocre, it has one of the most memorable cast of characters of any shounen. Inuyasha comes with its share of laughs and gags, but character chemistry could not have been any better. In fact it was more fun seeing the group living their daily lives rather than fighting off demons and Naraku. The group and even a lot of the side characters just have wonderful and unique personalities, and seeing them interact was just a treat and reward to watch.
When you add it up all together, Inuyasha feels like it could have been a manga to compete with the top dogs of the shounen world--One Piece, Naruto, Bleach--with its beautiful and colourful cast and interesting weapons, battle techniques, but falls short because of repetitive fighting. Unfortunately as the season progressed, the story started concentrating a lot more on the action. However, the action parts did get better and more engaging, but it was still largely just average. Inuyasha isn't a manga you read expecting a brilliant action shounen, but if you're just looking for a great manga that brings out the best of the slice of life genre, look no further than Inuyasha.

| i loved this anime! although i wish they would have finished the anime to match the manga, i found both the anime and manga very enjoyable. the fact that inuyasha and kagome had such a unstaedy relationship made it addictive. all and all the blend of comady, action, and romance(not very much but o well) is somthing you dont find very often so, inuyasha rocks!

| A Rumiko Takahashi manga (which really just says it all). A 56 volume/558 chapters/12 years running story.
I really enjoyed reading it (although some arcs were a bit stretched). Fun, interesting, with a fair amount of suspense.
The end left me a sweet-bitter taste (but that may be cause I crave for bitter-sweet chocolate right now).
I liked the fact that its characters grow to reach adulthood.

| I have to say that this is one of the best mangas I've ever read, second only to Bleach. The storyline is engaging, the art is so gorgeous, the characters are beautifully done and it covers basically all of my favourite genres!
The only complaint I have is Inuyasha's constant dancing between Kikyo and Kagome, which pisses me off to no end - however, I don't let that degrade my overall opinion of the entire series.
Another pet-peeve is Viz's left-to-right presentation, rather than right-to-left.

| I really loved this manga... I read all of it and was very pleased with it all. The design was really amazing and the story was almost the same as the anime except for it wasn't nearly as long... LOL! I really liked it I have no real complaints about InuYasha. I really want to tell you about it in full detail but I don't want to spoil your fun... You will just have to read it and find out for yourself! I would recommend this to people that are new to reading manga...

| Absolutely a must for any outaku. It's slow at first, but it gets much better later on in the series, like lots of Takahashi's works, and includes the introduction of at least one character that will appeal to everyone.

| What can I say? I just love this manga, even though I think that the anime is better. ^^;
I think it has the perfect mix of love, humour, "supernatural" and mild (in my opinion) violence.
I recommend it to everyone apart from the youngest, because they won´t. understand many of the jokes and feelings of the characters.

| all i can say "this anime is superb!" i liked every episode of Inuyasha. i enjoyed reading it. The flow of the story is good. the design is perfect, i liked it. The story itself, as i have said, its really exciting nd humorous.
