| Okay, so this was the first anime I ever thought to myself "Is this art??"
Try to take that in. I'm talking about COLORFUL. The anime who's American tagline is "Roses are red. Violets are blue. This show is about panties." And here I was, little straight girl, sitting watching the show thinking "Could this be...art??"
...Because goddamn, simply put, is this show artistic. Having seen my fair share of anime over the past five years I've been addicted, I've never REALLY considered the fact I was watching ART, as in drawn pictures. No matter how fantastic the show, no matter how great the animation quality, I never sat back and said "Whoa, this is ART", at least not in a high quality sense like I mean for Colorful. Some clips in this show - namely the "transition shots", the ones with high quality art with grainy textures over top of them, with funky rave-esque music playing - are so funky cool, they could play at a rave or something equally awesome. And some of the editing skills used are so cool, you just can't help but think "damn, this show is COOL." (sorry for the over use of "cool"...but shit son, that word just describes those clips of Colorful.)
Now that I have got that out of my system, let me discuss the bulk of the show - the ecchi jokes, the four main characters never ending quest to see panties and bras, to get as close to them as they can, no matter who the girl. Those were...usually stupid, sometimes funny, occasionally sexy, and on the rare occasion degrading to the female target. But in the end, the male never gets what he wants, or end up getting humiliated, so it works. The story is not overlapping - some of the stories feature the same characters, but even if they do they're still on the same quest - to see pantsu! Now, a lot of the time I found myself thinking "Is this REALLY how men think? No way...", because I know a few guys, and while I guess they're interested in women, I really don't think that they are this bad. At least, I would hope that they don't go around trying to see the reflection of a woman's underpants in a puddle, otherwise I'm scared. This show makes it seem that every man is like this, since every male character goes out of their way to see, and try to touch the panties of any and every woman they see. And aside from vocal performances, I counted three females on staff, so...I dunno what that means really, but maybe they had some say...?
In the end, this was an amusing way to spend 100 minutes, although I think if one were to watch all 16 episodes in one sitting, they would go insane. The repetative plot is enough to make one lose their mind, but in small doses, this is really amusing.

| Well Colorful is certainly one of the most random anime's I've ever seen. I gave it a shot because I hoped it would be funny. It had it's moments but really didn't make me laugh all that much. Because this show is 100% fanservice it REALLY lacks a story. If you want to know more about this dissapointing show read on.

| I found this anime to be really entertaining. It shows the perspective of all us perverted men in society (women can get a kick out of it too!). I dont think this show has ripped off anything from any show. You can relate to the characters in really strange ways. I know theres been times where I may of changed my seat in class to try and get a better view of a girl's panties hanging out of her jeans. These are the types of things you come across in Colorful.

| A collection of short comedy clips thrown together, some of which are continuous but most are not, and all of which are eicchi in nature. Haven't really seen it before in anime, so I guess it's kinda original in concept. A lot of the jokes are somewhat... repetitive, the same idea being used over and over again. It's basically some uber desperate males ever thinking up new ways to look up girls' skirts etc. Admittedly, some were actually amusing and had me chuckling. Only some though. The ending sucked big time. No idea wtf is going on there. I guess you could try it out if you're desperate to watch something mildly amusing to pass the time. Each clip is only a few of minutes long. It's like paragraphs in a tabloid news paper like "The Sun" - short, crap, but funny, partly because it's so crap.

| It seem that i would be the only guy that would review this anime with high grades...
Well, i like it, it was really funny to watch, it was diferent and i really loved the characters.
Being as perv as i m, i can say that felt somehow identifited with the characters. Of course i wouldn t go so far into look a woman's panties, but i enjoy the idea.
Good jokes, a lot of ecchi and some fan service... Colorful is the kind of anime that you would enjoy with a beer and a t-shirt with the slogan> i m proud to be a chovinist pig...

| This is best described as a pop-art anime about the pervy life of a few people living in Japan in short clips. At points in this anime, it did strike me as sad, the people were so desperate for so lingerie that it’s unbelievable. Pubescent and of high testosterone. This will frustrate watchers, unless they can identify with the characters, to some extent, all males have been excited by the odd panty they see and the bum or breast they feel, but the level of desperateness is just overboard.
Every erratic and irrational story and very strange sounds at points, once you seen one episodes, you kinda seen them all, just a matter of different girls.
The animation is kind of pop-art like in the erratic bits and reminds me of BBC’s “Monkey Dust� when it’s about perving. Not very good for the most, but there were good stills at times.
To watch or not to watch? To sum it up, I wouldn’t recommend this anime to anyone, not good, but not the worse anime I have seen as it did have about 4 moments of general comedy.

| I watched a couple episodes without any real background info as to what the show was about. Then I sat there in confusion, thinking that maybe something was wrong with my Media Player. Then I realized, "Okay, each episode is only about 6-7 minutes long." Yet, despite the disturbing amount of sad perversion, I stuck with Colorful till the end, after finally getting over my first initial reluctance to finish such a horrid anime.
Okay, the layout is really neat looking. Very vibrant with nice clean lines, but it resembles a comic book a bit too much to actually be considered animation (read: in order to be animation, the pictures have to move frequently). Unlike some people, I dig electronic genres, so the soundtrack was good on the ears. The plot pretty much sucks. All it consists of is a handful of very sad, very lonely, very sick males that actually find pleasure in looking up a girl's skirt. With all the nosebleeds, guess it would be too much on their systems to actually bypass the peeping and head straight for home. Character value sucked. There was none. I didn't even really find a whole lot of humor in any of the so-called jokes. But, due to the creativity that went into this, I was left with a sort of horrified, partially amused aftertaste.

| Yeah.. is this even an anime? I mean I know its from Japan, but, does Japan have some sort of MTV/Spike TV type of channel? This certainly belongs on one of those.
Yes, there were lots of colors in this anime. But thats really all the animation had to offer. It was super cartoony in most scenes and not detailed. Some of the expressions were funny and it was unique...I guess.. but it was kind of pitful looking for ANIME.
I really didnt have too many complaints with the sound. Most of it were grunts and groans from turned on guys, though. The OP wasnt too bad.. but the OP itself took up about a 1/4th of the 7 minutes time, if not more.
I dont think the word story applies to this anime. Well, ok not necessarily.. there in reality is many, many short stories. Each one shows a different angle of some guy trying to look down a chic's blouse or up a chic's skirt. Kinda pathetic. Some of them were slightly funny though.
As with story, there really wasnt much of any character either. Each guy in every story was the same... just looked different. And every one couldnt handle being around women.
This anime surely adds onto the stupid idea that all women are are sex objects. I know a few of my friends (that are girls) would be appalled to watch something like this. That being said, I also know a few of my friends (who are guys) would find parts of this funny. Just as I did... some of the pathetic things and expressions WERE laughable. Anyway, my final word on this is... I dont really consider this anime, and gets one of the worst scores of mine if it is. At least, I dont think females should watch.. not only would they be grossed out, offended, and probably have their opinion of men lowered in general, they will also have caught on to a few of the best peeping techniques, rendering them unsuccessful. ~_^

| This is a really funny, really sugary piece of ecchi candy. Sure there is no plot but who needs one with all of that perversion! The art is really nicely done. The colors are really vibrant and the motion is smooth. The drawings are really hilarious—everything you expect and more. The cartoony frames and facial expressions are interwoven with many seeming anime experiments. By going beyond proven comedy elements, this anime sets its visuals apart from others in the genre, and the experiment works. The lack of story really never seems to matter because of the piece of true visual art that’s on the screen. As far as sound is concerned, the song and voices (dub) are really well done—after hearing the opening theme 16 times in two hours I still like it. Some variation in the theme might have worked, but there’s just something about repeatedly hearing that frantic song, it really adds to the zany mood of the work. The hilarious characters consist of a group of all the different “types� of perverts and many different types of women as well. Some might say that women are represented poorly in this piece, but there is a definite variety ranging from smart (and sexy) to gold digging (and sexy) to innocent (and, well you get the point.....Overall check it out as a piece of hilarious pop art—who needs a story anyway!

| I'd like to alternativley title this anime "The Day in the Life of a Pervert". It's one of those "atmosphere animes" with established characters but no real story. It just follows the lives a few characters, in this case, perverts. Each character is shown in their natural habitat violating women's privacy as they time after time exploit the trust of the unsuspecting female as she bends over, squats down, or wear's a skirt near reflectve surfaces. In any case it's rather funny and very strange.
Low points would be it's lack of an actual story and also this thing I like to call "House of a Thousand Corpses"-itis. They put in a lot of filler of retarded clips of negative image nothingness which people overanalyze as somethnig meaningful when it's really nothing but, well, retarded nothingness.
In anycase, it's not for many people, but it's certainly different from the bunch. It's the kind of anime that has to be taken with a grain of salt since it was intended to be obscure and sort of in a documentary styled story.
Overall, if you have a good attention span and are open to different genres it's a recomended watch.

| Oha...Colorful reiht sich hiermit feierlich zu den schlechtesten Animes die ich jemals gesehen habe. Diese Show ist so unglaublich lame und trashig das es weh tut sich auch nur EINE der fünfminütigen Episoden bis zum Ende anzuschauen und ich bin mehr geschockt als überrascht das ich es bis zum Ende ausgehalten habe! Colorful dreht sich komplett um Männer die in irgendeiner Form versuchen meißt zufällig vorbeigehenden Frauen unter die Röcke zu schauen um einen Blick auf ihre Höschen zu erhaschen und stellt uns Männer ein mal mehr als komplett perverse, sabbernde und notgeile Lüstlinge hin. Mehr ist da nicht, wirklich! Die Comedy ist abgedroschen bis zum geht nicht mehr, schon nach einer Episode hat sie ihr "Potential" verschossen und man bekommt von da an den gleichen Joke nur in anderer Ausführung immer und immer wieder präsentiert bis man kotzen könnte...Nimmt man dazu noch die ärmlichen Animationen und addiert sie mit einem schrecklich nervtötenden Opening sowie teilweise sehr ohrenfeindlichen Soundeffekten hat man als Ergebnis einen Anime bei dem man unbedingt wegschauen/hören sollte. Ich kann diese Serie beim besten Willen NIEMANDEM empfehlen der genug Zeit hat besseres zu tun als sich knappe 2 Stunden lang von diesem Machwerk quälen zu lassen!

| It's kind of hard to grade the 'story' of Colorful, simply because there is none. This show is simply a bunch of short ecchi skits; what you'll get from it are some good laughs and lots of panty shots, nothing more and nothing less :)
The drawing style is very unusual for anime but works great for showing cute girls and silly guys trying to look up their skirts and down their cleavage. There is some nice music and very funny voiceovers so the sound also deserves a high mark.
Colorful shows men's obsession to peep into places where they're not supposed to in its full silliness.

| Well, I had the great misfortune of spending $3.50 to rent this, because number one, I usually like ecchi and fanservice, and number two, I'd heard that it was good.
It wasn't.
Yes, there were some laugh out loud moments, but they were overshadowed by pure nonsense and low production values. Furthermore, the ecchi was very tame, with little more than small partial glimpses of panties.
The animation looks like it was done as cheaply as possible. The story is non-existent, though there were recurring characters. A lot of people say they liked that there's no story, but I like some continuity. If a joke can be told in 60 seconds, I'd rather just hear it from one of my friends. Of course, about 75% of the jokes just aren't funny enough to relate to your buddies, which is the worst part. In contrast, the one storyline that did continue throughout, "Yamamoto", built up to a great punchline.
The show's saving grace is a really good opening song that sounds like something Excel would sing, and good background beats throughout.
Finally, if you do decide to watch the show, I thought the English version done by ADV was an improvement, as they were able to punctuate things with English profanity, which as we all know can save almost any joke.

| OMG, this show is hilarious. These perverts are so pathetic it's funny to watch them sink low in their perverseness circumstances (they are like "Oh, my hand bumped with Pamela's boobies." No wonder all of them are virgins lol ;).
But what makes me enjoying this show is how the whole package is presented. The animation, although not the best around or the most flued, is drawn in very cool and "classy" style. It's because the characters are drawn very closely to real life (I prefer this style over super cutey anime characters with ridiculously disproportionate body like Onegai Teacher or Popotan. YUCK). I took a drawing class back a while ago, and this style closely resemble sketches of human figures (yeah, one of those classes with nude women / men figures). It's a lot harder to draw this style, IME.
And some of the short skits between the "mini-episodes" are very cool looking, such as the cutscenes of wrestlers or women dancers drawn very realistically.
I like the sound department, too. Sure it doesn't have memorable OP/ED (as if there's any), but it has a lot of COOL sound bites throughout the "story" (technically there isn't any but let's just call it that way :). Yeah it's one of those sound effects that you produce through mixing music and sounds. It has couple of cool Jungle Beat mixes, too. Anime should have more of these type of tunes (Jungle beats, technos etc.)
Each episode is only around 5 min. long. Generally, most people can do nothing within 5 min span, so watching this anime won't hurt. Beside, if you're a kind of person who digs echii stuff like Ikkitousen(yuck), Onegai Teacher(yuck) and Onegai Twins(yuck), you shouldn't have any problem digging this shit. As the matter of fact, this show just cuts to the chase (skipping storyline as if there's any) and show those panty shots all of you would like and drool on. It makes us realize that echii anime DOESN'T need storyline or character development in the first place! Just panty shot over and over :/ Pathetic, isn't it?

| Well, in this series there's nothing but futile and not so futile attempts at peeking ladies underwear. No story whatsoever. There's a lot of jokes but half of them are bad. On the positive side the opening song is really funny. And there's is some weird psychedelic sequences between the jokes. Don't know if that's good or bad.
You like ecchi, this is your anime. Nose bleed alert!

Ep 1 is hilarious, I frankly couldn't have imagined that twist in the plot (if u consider that a plot).
So far, I've watched till ep 5. It's entertaining to watch these idiotic people trying to do what they do, though sometimes it gets a bit disgusting.
