After having watched Serial Experiments Lain I didnt expect any anime show to deal with such a topic. But here instead of the Wired we have something similar, called Platonic Chain, where everyone possesing a mobile phone can enter some info about any person he/she is interested in and the Platonic Chain gives them whatever they need to know.

The storyline had a huge potential but instead of that the producers chose to focus on individual story of each character in 3 minute episodes (excluding the OP and ED).

I have to admit that the way they used 3D CGI made this anime original because in 2D it was impossible for the characters to be so realistic. Regarding realism and characters motion I havent seen any better anime. Also the voice actors were great and they made the characters even better. I liked the approach and the narration overall.

Most moments were funny, focusing on misunderstandings mainly, others were more tense, especially some of the web episodes. If you liked titles like Lain you'll like this title too.

They could include shorter OP and ED but this is supposed to be watched one episode a week.

If you compare it especially with most failed attempts to make 3D animated series Platonic Chain is a gem and shouldnt be missed.

Graphically it's kind of interesting to see what appear to be drawn textures on top of 10K poly wireframes. Admittedly this causes some scenese to look very natural and enough to look very unnatural.

Story wise it's quite good. A lot of social commentary, a lot of "what would be the result if we could do *this*". Which is the foundation of classic science fiction.

All in all, this is definitely worth a look.

For people who don't get it? Watch Tenjo Tenge there's enough fanservice there that you'll forget what was bothering you about this.

The series got 6 min per ep. where 1 min for op, 2 min for chars info(first half)2 min for ending song(last half) so.. you can figure what left in for us to see. Animation was done with computer CG where you can atually count the polygon(lol), aside the bad animation and expression, the voicer of the series done a great job for it, also they had added so many songs at the end of each ep. that get my rating boot up to 8. The story is all made up from immaginate base on "if you have all the database in every human in the world, what would you do with it". I would enjoy it more if it atucally go with the regualar show-time(25 min per ep.) to tell you the truth, I spen more time clicking and searching(to skip the op) the video more than enjoy watching the real story.

Platonic Chain isn't a really biiiig unfolding story. I think it's supposed to chronicle some events in the lives of these girls and how it involves Platonic Chain. It's sort of like a little glimpse, here and there, about how the world can/will be affected by technology in the future and what ordinary means these spectuclar powers will be used for.

The characters were just a vehicle for the creators to examine technology in a near-futuristic setting amd I thoroughly enjoyed watching the mesh of Japanese youth culture with cutting-edge technology.

My only gripe is that the episodes were too short. More, moooore! I want to watch more from this series, hahahahaa! XD

Something different for you animes lovers out there, if you want different animation in anime, you got it, never seen this before.

Okay so peel away the 3-D stuff and what have we got? Answer – something of a collection of snippets of dating, love, friends, school life and a fair amount of comedy.

24 episodes if I remember correctly plus one web episodes which is about 4 episodes long. Nothing special in Platonic chain, but it did explore the trend of this world we live in and created a very convincing future where Big Brother has literally taken over Japan at least, and mobile phone is all we need.

PC did spark my imagination somewhat but it was all too stale and boring for most parts to make this a “good anime, average is all I can ay for this.

The 3-D animation was okay, the facial expressions could have been better and at times the backdrop looked crap, but then the next minute, you’ll get this extremely realistic eye-candy back drop which made the previous crap seems weird and strange as to why there’s such a big difference.

The character design where as good as Tenjo Tenge, but on 3-D, not so great.

Respect for this for trying, but after you see this, maybe you’ll have different ideas, looked forward to this so much, but it didn’t deliver. Watch this anyways, you’ll just have to see what this has to offer and purely because it is different.

An interesting bit of eye candy, with a plot that could have done a lot more than it did. Still, it does what it does fairly well--it's main weakness is the micro-length format, which coupled with rather lengthy intro and outro sequences means there's very little time for the story to be told.

This is a show I ALWAYS looked forward to watching. Now that I've seen all 24 episodes, I can say honestly that this is an excellent show and should not be missed. It's different, and a breath of fresh air. If you don't like it by the halfway through the series, you won't like it. But for me, I had been wanting to see this series since 2002, when I read a little article on animenation about it, so I'm very happy to have seen it. It was everything I hoped it would be, and more.

One thing I didn't enjoy - the 2nd and 3rd and 4th ending were too long. They were 2min of the whole 6 min show! The songs were good, but I missed the character profiles, like how the 1st ending was :(

One of the most underatted new show. Platonic chains is a high class experimental anime in many way and it's sure it's pretty uncommercial cause it's sometimes weird and extremly disturbing (aka the self-mutiliation plaster fetishist episodes). The enphasis isn't a continous story but a facinating and humoristic sometime exploration of our cyber future. You should watch this anime higher than first degree to appreciate its message.
