| Hohe Erwartungen hatte ich nach den OVAs zwar nicht von diesem Movie aber trotzdem bin ich am Ende enttäuscht gewesen. Der Ex Driver-Grand Prix war eine soooooo tolle Möglichkeit diesen Film mit fetten Races nur so voll zu stopfen, aber leider hat man sich entschlossen das Ganze mehr im Hintergrund laufen zu lassen und als Stütze für eine mal wieder recht langweilige Hauptstory zu missbrauchen. Die Animationen stehen denen des Inital D-Movies kaum nach und die kurzen Ausschnitte aus dem Grand Prix machen Lust auf mehr. Warum nur hat man aus diesem Film nicht einen kompletten Car-Race-Movie gemacht? Warum, warum, warum??? >_< Stattdessen läuft das Geschehen hauptsächlich neben der Strecke ab und mit Ausnahme des letzten Viertels gibt es nicht viel Car-Action zu sehen. Die Story beschäftigt sich mit vermeintlich kriminellen Machenschaften in Verbindung mit illegalen Wetten bezüglich des bereits angesprochenen Grand Prixs und gestaltet sich dank leicht vorhersehbaren Twists nur wenig bis gar nicht spannend. Die eingefügten Support-Charaktere sind sehr lahm und haben ungefähr soviel Profil wie ein Tennishallenschuh. Klischee-Figuren wie Angela, die die allseits bekannte Rolle des kleinen widerspenstigen Rotzgörs spielt, verstärken die Kümmerlichkeit die vom ganzen Support-Cast ausgeht nur noch und unser aus den OVAs bekanntes Trio zeigt auch nicht mehr als das was man von ihnen gewohnt ist. Eine kleine Entschädigung für die Langeweile die von gut 80 % des Films ausgeht, stellt am Ende der Höhepunkt des Films dar denn dieser ist actionmäßig gar nicht schlecht gelungen und die finale Verfolgungsjagd erinnert stellenweise sogar fast an so manche Szene aus bekannten Hollywood-Actionstreifen bei denen die Autos nur so durch die Luft geschleudert werden und die kritische Situation am Ende nur durch eine halsbrecherische, wahnwitzige (und selbstverständlich vollkommen übertriebene) Aktion entschärft werden kann. So ziemlich das einzige was an dem Film recht sehenswert ist, denn der Rest ist wie gesagt nichts was groß überzeugen kann. Na ja, immerhin ist der Movie alles in allem besser als alle vorangegangen OVAs zusammen...

| I watched this after watching the 'Nina and Rei Danger Zone' OAV...and I was disappointed, but only slightly. First off, Lorna, Lisa and the kid annoyed the hell out of me. Only their surrounding characters were the saving grace. The plot was so half-assed and explained away, I was kind of embarassed to watch it. I mean, it was cute, had the energy I had come to expect, and I still love the eX-D franchise but daaaamn...
Nina and Rei are SO much better than this. They coulda figured out the 'mystery', and looked better doing it.

| First off I must say that I have yet to see the original OVA so what I'm going to say is based on my experience with this movie only...I may change the review after I manage to see the OVA if I consider my opinion to differ somehow...
First off I have to say that I found the animation to be very ugly. The CGI is implemented very bad so it's simply annoying. That and the fact that the film is very slow in matter of car racing. There are some nice surprises from the animation but nothing to redeem this one.
The music was good...I particularly remember the music during a preparation for a race. But the voices are just stupid and boring...boring boring BORING! The "cool" American accent was done horribly by people with almost 0(ZERO) knowledge of basic English pronunciation.
The story is lame to say the least. Some usual mischievous teenager, a nice twist of events and really nothing more. The ending was meant to be good but it lacked 5 more minutes. After a rather impressive car chase in a dangerous situation, the ending comes sharply, uninspired and....stupid. One of the worst ending I have seen...it left a great big hole in the film. Imagine trying to sneak into a rich museum avoiding all kind of death-defying traps and at the end you realize that there was an on/off button at the entrance.
Nothing great about the characters...I'm feeling quite lenient here because a couple of them were a bit interesting but the whole other lot is just...BLAH! I was expecting no development...it's a movie after all so that's not a problem. The problem are the annoying characters...
Well...I truly doubt I'll be seein' this again. Except for the nice car chase at the end and the good engine sounds(the cars sound powerful like freakin bulls) there's nothing to draw me back.
Needless to say I only enjoyed the car chase mentioned above.

| This movie looks like another ep. in ex-driver for me. Nothing news except that they in USA and trying to use some american cool words :P
