| A friend recommended me to watch this anime, and after i had seen it to be ranked #5 on this site, i thought i was in for a really really good anime.
This anime really doesn't deserve all the hype its recieved.
But don't be me wrong, the characters were really good, the sound was seamless and the animation was smooth.
But the story was just pure trash.
I cannot emphasize in words how complete and utter crap the story is.
Each episode individually was entertaining, but there werent any episodes that actually followed on from eachother, with the exception of the episodes that had something to do with Vicious.
You watch about 5 episodes worth of fillers that progress the story by absolute zero, then you get one about Vicious.
All in all it had potiental, but the extremely weak story is its downfall.
If you can say it had a story at all for that matter.

| Overall, for me, the plot isn't really that great. I watched this anime seeing how its highly recommended but it wasn't really that enjoyable. Some episodes were boring and I was expecting more from the hype that you guys made. The upside in this anime is that the characters were well detailed, GREAT animation. The originality of this anime is pretty good. I also liked the whole space and living on other planets idea.

The story is great and the characters are superb. After you watch Bebeop you will definately want to watch it as again.
The animation style and action scenes fit togetehr well. Definately give Bebop a watch.

| One of the best written anmes I've watched. The serie was produced in 1998 and still its just as good or even better then todays anime. You can see, feel and hear that the producers have put their soul into this. Basics, it's a 26 episode long anime with 4 main characters, who appears in the first episodes. And about thier short precens with each other. Jet a cop that retired after an accident. Spike a ex mafia guy who ran away. Fey a girl who's lost her memories of the past. Edward (girl) who lost her parents and is a awsome hacker. They're all bounty hunters exept ed who helps them a litle, and more there isn't and in the end the story is about their past and how they became who they are.

| WARNING: The following anime is not for children. It has strong violence, language, drug use, and nudity. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Cowboy Bebop is quite possibly the best modern anime since Lupin III. Just watching the first 10 seconds draws you in with an incredible opening, and it only gets better from there. The entire show feels polished to the point of perfection, and it seems that the creators cut no corners in realizing the initial vision. It is so good, that even now, after almost 11 years, you can still see it and be amazed by it. I cannot recommend it enough. If you get the chance, buy the box set of the entire show. Believe me, you will get your moneys worth.

| This anime came highly recommended, but I must admit I just couldn't get into it. The art and quality were very professional, but something about the plot or characters was just missing for me. Though I dutifully watched all 26 episodes, I never really felt compelled to watch the next one, other than to satisfy my need to finish something once started.

| This is an amazing anime. It is easily one of my favorites of all time. I first watched it on toonami and just recently downloaded it and watched the entire series straight though. The story is so deep and there are things that I will never forget about this anime.
The animation is great. From the ship designs to the characters, everything looks amazing and fits perfectly with the anime.
Cowboy bebop has one of the best soundtracks I have encountered. Of course there is the unforgettable opening song, Tank! which is one of my favorites. There is also the great ending song The Real Folk Blues. Aside from these the background music is great for setting the mood of a space cowboy. The jazzy theme works amazingly well with this anime.
The story is rather short, having only 26 episodes but within that time you get to know all the main characters really well. Though the main focus is on Spike, each of the characters also have their own stories. The plot is intricate and includes action, adventure, romance, comedy, and almost anything you can think of. The story really is unforgettable and is something that all anime lovers should experience.
The characters are very well developed. Like I said before the focus is on Spike but the stories of the other main characters are also revealed in a lesser extent. You really get to know and love all of these characters and there is almost someone for everyone to identify with.
This is an anime that I would not mind watching over and over again just because it is a great anime and you really grow attached to it.

| Cowboy Bebop is by far one of the best anime's ever made. There are excellent actions scenes. The animation is amazing. It is an anime which finally has the music that many are lacking. How could one not love shoot-outs to Jazz music. On top of that there are some really quirky amazing characters and a good amount of humor. The story is cohesive and easy to understand. A fun watch. If you have not seen it yet, please do.

| Cowboy Bebop is one of the most original series I have ever seen. The creator (Shinichiro Watanabe, if I am right), could imagine in a very believable way how humanity could be in some more years...Earth devastated, people making their lifes in different planets, trying to survive in a very difficult way, like in the far west! A solar system so big, that is too difficult to make law and order to prevail. Bounty hunters are really neccessary. Spike and Jet are really great bounty hunters, solving very important problems that could have affected the whole humanity. Always in the right moment, and the right place. Although the guys are bounty hunters, they are always ready to help the weak, and, in their very own way, they are the heroes that contribute to keep the order in the space. But, finally, every character in the series find with his/her own past, and Spike takes the worst part when he encounters with his fate.

| A classic science fiction series that starts to show its age. Very episodic stories where funky bounty hunters roam the space and try to make ends meet. Arguable the coolest anime series ever made, the music plays a great part in creating the mood of each episode. All the main characters are given lots of screentime and moments to shine. Was easily one of the most influential animes of its time, but perhaps will not interest the new generation of fans that much.
The Good:
+ Excellent music that supports the whole series, plenty of jazz and blues.
+ Good chemistry between the characters.
+ A couple of really great and original stories.
+ The epitome of coolness in anime.
+ Some of the fight scenes are just great.
+ Lots of comedic moments, despite the gloomy atmosphere.
The Bad:
- Very episodic, the main storyline takes just a few episodes, the rest is stand alone filler.
- Some clearly weaker episodes.
- The ending isn't nearly as deep or meaningful as it pretends to be.
The Ugly:
- The animation is quickly becoming outdated (it still looks great for its age).

| The year is 2071; a futuristic world where spaceships are a norm, where science is truly advanced, and where humans have become inhabitants on Mars and Venus among other places in the solar system. A story typical of the 70s and 80s where humans are in silver jump suits piloting a spacecraft and navigating through the asteroids, searching for alternative fuels, and invading the homes of human-shaped aliens. A quick synopsis of the show may be misleading, but fortunately, Cowboy Bebop was not headed to that direction. Rather, the futuristic background only serves as an excellent basis to the very unique story it had to tell.
The writers seemed to have a very clear idea on what they wanted to portray and didn’t want to distract the audience from that. Cowboy Bebop did not require giant robots, super fighters or puppet masters; just the good ol’ guns and grenades. Believe it or not, Cowboy Bebop is one of the most realistic anime produced to date. Perhaps not so much about the space exploration, but the focus on humanity is just spot on, and this is what makes the show wonderful to watch.
Spike and his companions are abnormal characters to say the least, but each of them is convincingly portrayed atop the corrupted, futuristic world. Each endured, and is tied to an ominous past, and it is perhaps their similarity which brings them together and their option to be bounty hunters. The countless experiences that the crew goes through in the many seemingly independent stories reveal cleverly the four main characters’ identity in a teasing sense. The encounters with bounties among others in their adventures further strengthen the show’s direction in discussing the joy and grief of humanity in the futuristic world. Cowboy Bebop can be simplistic or with many hidden meanings, depending on how the viewer wishes to apprehend it.
For the minority who may not enjoy the story and its characters, it is difficult to hate the music the show has to offer. Heavily influenced by old school Western jazz and rock, the beautiful soundtrack by Yoko Kanno is synchronised brilliantly with each scene of the show, sometimes as if it were a music video.
Cowboy Bebop does not age; and is instead ahead of its time. It focuses on the purpose and perhaps, the meaning of humanity through the realistically portrayed characters. And for those who are unexcited by such a genre, Cowboy Bebop is also in every respect a tremendous title whether it is classified as an action, adventure, or even a comedy anime.

| This is the anime that started it all for me. It's myriad of interesting characters catches the eye and ear and makes you want to see more. It has one of the best themes in anime. The story felt a bit rusjed at the end though, overall a very good anime.

| This has to be my favorite anime of all time. Its just so cool and jazzy! The musics are perfect, they suit every episode so well! I'm a big fan of both blues and jazz, so this is right up my alley.
The animation might be a bit old, but it still looks very good. Spike is such a cool hero and the chemistry on Bebop is great, everyone has their role. Faye is sexy, Jet is serious and Edward is fun.
I usually don't like much space stuff or fighting, but Cowboy Bebop is just so much fun that I could watch it again anytime! Some of the episodes are a bit weird, but overall it is a very good series and the main plot is great, although the end is a bit too sad perhaps.
I recommend this series to anime fans of all ages. My boyfriend likes it too and our tastes are usually very different. I really don't know what else to say. I'm just such a big fan of this series and its difficult to say anything when you don't have anything to complain about. Perhaps I should have chosen another one for my first review... Well, I'll try my best next time! Thanks for reading!

| I'm not a big anime person, but this has to rank hands down as my favorite anime series, easily. The cast of characters is tight and fleshed out very well (unlike many animes which have endless hordes of minor and semi-major characters cluttering up any real elaboration or focus on character building), and covers a wide range of personalities with ease. Occasionally you're left wanting a little more insight or change (especially with the villains of the series), but it's a minor quibble.
The futuristic setting is perfect for the storyline, although it may be a little bit over the top at times, and therefore hard to relate to. Most of the episodes are of a fairly serious nature, and they work well as self-contained stories (sometimes it's a little difficult to see the direction in which certain episodes are going, with regard to the overall picture.) Really, the storyline is about setting a scene and building to one of those "etched-into-your-mind" climaxes, many times over. Even the quirkier parody episodes work well.
The soundtrack is fantastic - the juxtaposition of jazz over futuristic bounty hunting might seem like a strange pairing, but Cowboy Bebop makes it not only work, but feel like nothing else would have made sense in its place. All things considered, a fantastic anime series, well worth the time to watch.

| I have watched this series in dubs, and I must admit, I, on occassion, prefer the dub over the original Japanese. Truly a work of art, even though almost 10 years has passed since this was made, it is still very good and still very enjoyable. For full reviews please read on!

| I personally think the late 90s/early 00s were a great time of creativity for anime. Cowboy Bebop is one of this period's standouts and one of the few anime I can watch over and over without getting tired of it. I don't have much to say that hasn't been said before, especially since I've reviewed this elsewhere years ago, but it will always be the ultimate space odyssey for any anime generation to me. I find it rather poignant and full of life for such a vast wasteland setting, complemented by the eclectic score of the always amazing Yoko Kanno . Its cast is among the best, if not the best, ever created for a television show. Hands down. The plot isn't necessarily easy to follow or linear upon first viewing, but it advances at a somewhat steady pace, never revealing too much at one point but always ready to deliver a shocking moment before you know it. While there are filler episodes, as there are in almost every anime, the filler episodes themselves can be said to be equally as great as the rest (i.e. Mushroom Mamba). That being said, there are a few episodes that fall flat, which is my only complaint with the story and this anime in general. Definitely recommended, though I imagine many anime fans have seen this already.

| Wow, one of the single most popular anime to hit this side of the Pacific that actually deserves its hype! You won't see this everyday, so you should enjoy Cowboy Bebop for that reason alone.
This is simply THE anime. It pioneered anime in the west by being largely Western Influenced while at the same time it allows you to subtly experience the things that make animation from Japan so unique.
Premise is simple enough, bounty hunters in an outer space setting trying to make ends meet. They have rotten luck and the main character seems to be haunted by his past to the point where most men would lay down and die. But that really doesn't do this show justice. It is the ways these simple ideas are handled that make it so great; a true testament to simplicity.

Watching this series was like making some new friends and having a good time with them, down to the last laugh. This series is perfect for new otaku or experienced veterens, so go pick up the first volume of the anime that hit the anime world with a bang: COWBOY BEBOP.

| My favorite anime of all time, hands down, no doubt about it. Even though the animation is a bit outdated, it's much more stylish and artistic than the somewhat flat and bland newer techniques used on the more recent animes. The soundtrack is the best I've heard in an anime, ever, and in response to khryoleoz's comment about yoko kanno's music, it's foolish to say that kanno's music is not jazz because it lacks improvisation. All jazz music that is recorded, whether it is live and improvised or written in a studio or improvised in a studio, is, in the end, a recording. Kanno's music does include some improvisation and even though many songs in the anime are obviously not jazz, most of them do classify as jazz and compliment the anime perfectly.
For everybody complaining about the lack of character development and the story, character and plot development, though subtle, is very deep (with the emphasis on subtle). (for examply, if you don't know why vicious hates spike so much then you've missed something along the way)
It was a blast watching the series and I would have loved it if it was extended for another season.
