I wasn't expecting much from this series after reading some of the reviews on here, but I have to say with all honesty that I REALLY enjoyed L/R.

I guess you could call it a detective anime with a James Bond theme (license to kill, Cloud 7 = 007 *lol*). I found the characters to be quite fascinating, the storyline to be intriguing and the music was out of this world (blues and jazz, most of which have English lyrics!).

In the end, ratings are all personal opinion, but I really think you should give this one a go!

This is totally my style: the music, pace, subject, characters, length. I can't see why there are also people rating Licensed by Royal as low as 3.0 :)

All style, no substance. I knew this was going to suck when the preview called the main characters "two of the most unbelieviably cool secret agents you have ever seen". Unbelieviably cool? More like unbelieviably lame. Stay away from this one.

I'm pretty sure all the low reviews are because they didn't watch the whole series.

But anyways, L/R was a great anime with a different style of music. Each episode is full of excitement and action. While the plot of the story begins to unfold in the last 5 eps (when it gets really good ^_^ ).

I liked it a lot and its definitly worth a try.

L/R is a decent show with a very interesting plot. Where it falls short is the characters. There's basically no development what so ever. Other than that it's a solid show the rest of the way.

As for Cowboy Bebop, L/R obviously has the superior plot since Bebop hardly even had a plot. CB had the much better action scenes and better characters however. There's not much ground between CB and L/R, but Bebop is clearly the superior show, despite being overrated by pretty much everyone.

Just to set the record straight, L/R is not as cool as Cowboy Bebop (though it does have some measure of coolness).

Animation is good, though at some times the characters looked flat and too wide. Music... bleh. I personally don't like the OP, or pretty much all the music in the show.

The story leads up to an interesting conclusion, but once it gets there, it becomes a mess.

My one big problem with Licensed by Royal are the characters. They are very interesting characters, but WHO ARE THEY? More back story would have made them even more amazing characters.

L/R borrows heavily from Cowboy Bebop, enough for the comparisons to be undeniable. But it manages to rub off a little of that Bebop charm in doing so.

A show with lots of style but unfortunately little substance.

Although I'd really, really like to discuss the anime with someone with a good interpretation of what happened, I'll just assume it was like the rest of the show: a lot of the stuff was not well-explained (a lot of interpretation shall be necessary), but the basic elements are in to make for a decent watching. The animation and sound are top notch, and the characters draw you in, but alas, the overall story isn't very well executed and that hurts the anime a lot (that doesn't mean it isn't a good idea, just not well done).

Watch it if you've run out of high quality, 9.0+ rating shows to watch.
