| Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie is a 90 minute long movie based on the then-popular Street Fighter games made in 1999.
The quality of the animation is pretty standard for its time. Graphical exaggerations are present, although not excessive. The fight scenes are well animated, and are fun to watch, despite being a bit on the short side. Overall, the graphics and animation in this movie is quite error free, but still fails to impress.
The music in this movie suits the scenes most of the time, as do the sounds, and the voice acting is very well done. But, the audio, just like the animation, ultimately fails to stand out.
The storyline, despite having a Dragonball Z feel near the end, is much faster paced and more enjoyable to follow. Despite the rather unrealistic ending, the movie has a solid storyline which concludes quite well.
Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie features a very interesting cast of characters. The movie does have some lack of character development when viewed as a stand-alone movie, as it follows on from previous Street Fighter series, but the effects of this should not significantly deteriorate viewing pleasure.
Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie would most likely be more enjoyable for Street Fighter fans and would definitely be a must watch for anyone following the Street Fighter storyline. But, as a stand-alone movie, Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie is quite average and does not excel in any area.

Da weiß man wenigstens was man hat!

| Any anime based on the popular Street Fighter games have a certain formula. For one, the friendship between Ken and Ryu is more or less the focal point of the story. For two, either Ken or Ryu is controlled by a force greater than himself and the other must help him overcome that force. For three, the villain must be familiar. Last but certainly not least (and perhaps the most important rule), the anime must never take itself too seriously. Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie breaks these rules and is not the better for it. Having disappointing characters that play little to no role, a villain that isn’t even in the games, and taking itself as seriously as a heart attack, this anime is a bad-harmlessly bad- ninety minute watch.
Not including Akuma dancing around for a few moments, the movie begins typically. Chun-li is fighting a bunch of thugs and Ryu, who is soon to be burdened by aforementioned entity, comes to the rescue. Everything about the anime spells out that this would be your ordinary affair, but the characters say otherwise. Ken is perhaps the most disappointing character in the series. Ryu’s best buddy is reduced to some needless companion that shares a condescending line or two. I wonder why he was in the anime at all. I suppose he (along with the annoying Sakura) is meant to be the “comic relief” in the movie. It’s a golden assumption that Chun-li play a significant role in any SF anime. Although she has quite a lot of screen-time (and fanboys would be glad to know that her character design is the best in the movie), her role is no more than the damsel who is so tearfully concerned about the protagonist’s problems. The villain is some crazy biologist named Sandler, who is naught but an M. Bison clone being that greed and lust for power are his only motivations. This makes me wonder why Bison just isn’t the villain in the first place. Then there’s Shun. The problem with Shun is not that I don’t know who he is, but that I know damn well what he is NOT. His character would have been decent had the creators not tried to give him a possible…uh, genetic background with a few of the characters. Oh, please. There are a slew of Alpha characters that make no appearance whatsoever and others have small roles or cameos in the story (i.e., Rose, Birdie and the other characters I already mentioned). Others appear for only seconds (i.e., Guy) and have no lines at all.
Because the anime tries to take a more serious approach, I found most of the dialogue (mostly Ryu’s) to be ludicrous and certain scenes to be downright laughable (especially the whole Birdie scene). The ending is also very abrupt, but hey, I’m not complaining. At least it was much shorter than I thought it will be. Unless you're a HARD-core fan of the games, avoid this.

| Now that the Street Fighter franchise is long overdue I wanted just out of nostalgia to remember those golden times of video gaming and watch any anime or movie that would come into my hands. This movie is good if you want to watch it just once but no more. Oh and there is a short appearance of Sodom from Final Fight. So this is another reason to watch the movie.

| ONLY decent thing about this "anime" is maybe the name, based on greatest fighting game of all time.. seeing all characters of SF was somewhat ok. Visuals were pretty basic thinking it's done in 1999.. Nice special fx though, ok animation quality.
Sound was plain bad. Overacted dialog and crappy music.. need i say more? (i watched dubbed dvd)
Story was somewhat o.k, but it was based on very stupid ideas, and most of motives were not explained. Story is dominated by the word "WHY", why they fight, why they live and why the heck did they made this movie.. etc..
Characters (other then chun-li and ryu)were very shallow. A very lame attempt to pack in as much SF chars in a basically 2-3 character story by adding a few "Tournaments" where you see a character for like 20-30 frames! STUPID!
Overall, this was horrible! Do NOT watch this movie! For love of everything that is good and nice, stay away from it if you liked Street fighter games or StreetFighter 2 movie.

| I hadn't expected high from a game to anime movie, and my expectations were right. Street Fighter Alpha Zero is one of the few Anime I didn't enjoy watching.
Where to begin? Well, Let's begin with the Animation. It's crap.. Really.. It has some weird style I didn't like, and when characters get mad, they turn into hideous animated monsters. (Shun for example) Also, Movements were animated really bad.. The fight scenes were not much to look at too..
As for the sound, I didn't really heard any track except in the emotional parts. (Could just be me, though =P) The Seiyuu were ok I guess, didn't stand out.. certainly not..
The story is really lame.. Ryu re-meets Ken, Ryu meets little brat who claimes to be his long lost brother, forms a bond with it, and then there's some scientist who's trying to take over the world.. CLICHÉ!!!
The only thing that enjoyed me during this movie, is the fact that my friend and I kept joking about the art and such.
Street Fighter die hard fans might like this, if you aren't, stay away..

| To me this one really sucked.
It's not to compare to the 2V series, or the animated movie.
because:
1-animation sucked, didn't look like the game.
2-music kinda sucked.
3-The meaning of the movie was to show one or two actionthemes, of a kick, and then 1 or 2 fights. No friendshipstuff, no love, no humor.
4-not even good action.
5-No excitement
6-A dark atmosphere hung over this movie, there was really nothing enjoyable about this one...
I've seen about 80% of the movie, hoping it to get better, and then gave it up. I even erased it from my HD, and found it "not worth to burn to a CD".
The suckness level of this movie, compares to the real streetfighter movie with Jean Claude v. Damme; or the real "Fist of the north star" movie (not the anime).

| This was the last Street Fighter anime, and it's not a patch on Street Fighter II the animated movie. The visuals aren't as good, nor is the production, nor anything else for that matter. The only thing good about it was the dark atmosphere of the anime. The action was not that good, half the time you can't see what's going on, and the other half of the time they're charging up fireballs. They spend so much time doing that that the anime feels hollow and lacks substance. This is yet another hated anime which spent the length of the film asking that "all important question"... why do we fight... By the end of it, they come to the laughable conclusion... to find the answer!!! Or some stupid thing like that. Heh. Just makes you think... wtf?? By the end of the anime I still don't know happened.

| The latest movie of street fighter, and sadly it may even be the last we see, at least for a while now.
The animation was sublime for me, many thinks it's total crap, which is fair enough since it's not everyone's cup of tea. I loved the way the animation was so simple, less in this case was definitely more. The watercolour colouring was really something else, I loved it so much, not what you see in other animes and in fact I have only seen it once in Escaflowne movie.
The characters were great, though the interaction between them weren't all that great IMO, the fights did lack somewhat, a bit of the explosive type not the hand-to-hand type.
Akuma finally makes a real entrance in this despite him having appeared in Street fighter V series and the street fighter 2 movie. But he was disappointing to say the LEAST, this made me think that they just have to squeeze another movie out of the SF series.
Story wasn't too strong, hard to follow at points and not too dramatic like it should have been.
Overall, I really did like this, maybe because I am a big SF fan, if you don’t like SF much, this probably bore you to death at parts, but if you like SF, this is unmissable, given that the animation style you can tolerate.

| Ok...I like the street fighter video games, and this anime was...a disgrace.
I didn't like it at all, the story was flawed from the beginning. The only reason I watched the whole thing was in anticipation of some cool fight...I didn't even get that.

| The score for this movie would have been a LOT lower if I had not been a fan of the Street Fighter series. The animation is pretty decent and and the sound could be a little better but still decent to my pre-determined, stereotypical logic of video games turning into anime. For those who believe the fatal flaw was the introduction of a younger brother to Ryu, I disagree entirely. The introduction of Shun was a nice way to bring in a new storyline to the already cluttered SF series. What's more, the anime was halfway decent in that it did not bring in EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER from the series, instead just widdling down the roster to characters who 'might' be able to do something (See 'Tekken' and 'Samurai Shodown' for this fatal flaw). In my opinion, the fatal flaw for this movie was the lack of action from characters who seemed to play a more important role, such as Rose & Sakura. These two play a pretty important role in the film but don't do anything "physical," just "verbal." Other then that, if you're a big SF fan, knock yourself out and get it. But if you're looking for a good movie, skip this one and look into Studio Ghibli's archive.

| A pointless action-movie based on the legendary fighting game. I thought I had very low expectations when I started watching Street Fighter Alpha, but in the end I was still quite disappointed.
First of all, this is a very ugly movie: the characters look deformed and the animation is extremely clumsy at many points. The numerous fight-scenes are lame and unexciting. Some of the backgrounds were quite beautiful, but there never was any movement in there.
The nicely fitting music was the best part of this movie, but the lousy sound-effects ruined most of the scenes. The voice-acting was barely average.
The worst thing, though, is that the story is nothing but a few lame excuses to see these favorite characters from the game fight each other. The characters' motivations are left paper-thin, and there is no proper development for any of them.
Overall, this is absolutely the worst full-length anime-movie I have bothered to watch all the way through. Not recommendable to anyone, except perhaps to the most die-hard Street Fighter fan.

once again, they didnt stick with the original concept of street fighter,
since when did Ryu have a brother, and hey no akuma vs ryu?!?!? whats the reason to watch it then , everybody anticipates Akuma fighting or a breif in depth look about his charector much like they did with M.Bison.
anyways i rated it this way because im an SF fan other wise i wouldve rated it lower.

| Another fighting game based anime. While the character designs look very good, the movie falls flat just like a typical fighting game anime for the usual reasons: rushed plot, too many characters to cover in a movie, and average fight scenes. And where is Bison? I didn't want some stupid scientist as the antagonist in this movie. An average anime to enjoy.

| I remember that at the time I watched this movie I was a horribly big fan of the game Street Fighter Alpha 3.
After beating the game, I was still in love with Street fighter.
I also remembered playing the street fighter alpha games back when I was around 7-8 years old in the super nes.
Well, those were the days, this is now. Last year, I downloaded this movie, and at the time I was not dissappointed. Now, I think I can make a better review than before.
First of all, if you are a die hard fan of the Alpha series, you will love this movie. You will also love the movie if you're into sharp art. What I mean by that is, the characters have sharp lines, oversized parts (chun li's hips) but look extremely goregous and alive, something like the new artist for the KOF2003 game.
If you're just a casual fan of the Street fighter alpha games, you'll find the strong points of the movie and the bad points too, but in the end come out with a neutral look at this movie (me).
If you're neither of the above, and it is the first time you're watching a fighter anime, you will hate this movie.
Everything like animation and characters are explained with better detail, here, I'll explain the movie in general.
The thing about this movie is, it was a bit too short. It was also very boring, nothing really happened, and you don't really learn anything about nothing. It kind of DIES empty, it doesn't have a strong point. its sort of like Matrix Revolution : more action, less story (that also applies to Reloaded but it was good at explaining things...a---nyways...).
This, is obvioulsy not good.
Compared to the last street fighter movie and even the TV series, this street fighter movie has no deph, no story, and no good ending, meaning, the movie is pretty much worthless, but knowing the simple fact that it is in your collection will make you huggle it, but thats just me talking.
I say that because the movies cover is excellent, and it just feels like one of those anime that you can watch over and over for the simple fact that you're bored, or want to get entertained for 90 minutes.
Read on.

| I like the Street Fighter Zero games so I was expecting a lot from this movie, unfortunately it was a piece of trash.
I don't see the point of this movie, the plot was terrible, the supporting characters do nothing, the music was bad. The good things about it are the animation and the main characters (Ryu, Ken and Chun-li), however, the animation sometimes looks horrible.

| Everything in it seems to just hapen at random and the story is only comes in second hand to the braindead fights. The faked sappynes and the idiotic "dialogue" is hardly worth mentioning. The dubs are, as expected, horible. And the animation would have looked beter if you let the frames lay in Sulfuricacid for a week. Atleast it would be less painfull to the eyes. Simply, the animation is too crude, it can be done much better.

| Imagine a great dane taking a giant shit on your lawn. "hey get that street fighter alpha..I mean shit off my lawn!" is something you might say. This movie was pretty bad, a big dissappointment. Just play the video game instead.
Quick overview of story...Ryu finds out he has a kid brother, some bad guy kidnaps him to steal his powers. Ryu fights bad guy.

| +: Wicked fight scenes will keep you up.
-: Inconsistent art quality, weak attempt at a plot, many fighters from the games are in here for only a few seconds, ho-hum new character, yeah, there are a lot of flaws.
I'll make this quick. If you like this movie, you like it either because you are a viewer who has never played the Zero (Alpha) games or you are a Zero fan and you actually had the ability to digest the movie rather well. That's it. It's a shame that this movie never reached my expectations, especially since I prefer the Zero games over many of the Street Fighter games not in the Zero saga.
I have to admit that at first, it was hard for me to adopt the new seiyuu, since it didn't really feel like Street Fighter Zero. Now, I got used to the new group. The only fighter that has the same seiyuu from the games is Gouki (Akuma), played by Nishimura Tomohiro, I belive his name is. Touma Yumi-sama got her wish by getting the chance to play as Chun Li and Orikasa Ai-sama plays as Rose (or Anita as I once heard from a story a while back) as they replace as of III, Miyamura Yuuko and Neya Michiko respectively. (Yuuko played as both characters in the first two games.) The one role that actually surprised me was Ken's. Ichijou Kazuya, the guy that replaces Imawaga Tetsuya, was being modest saying that he did his best to play as Ken, but to be honest, he did a real good job. The dub is surprisingly good also.
While I prefer the Zero art over any non-Zero art in general, the art quality here varies greatly. Yes, there are wicked fight scenes, but notice that the body parts of the characters look too big. That's not good. The movies fails that badly in the plot and character departments. Favorites like Guy get only 10 seconds of fame and the new character, Shin, feels like wasted space to me. He just is. The plot does indicate that it relates to some assigned task from Shadaloo, but it is horribly executed.
All in all, this is a reeeal weak movie. The games are waaay better. Watch the movie if you want wicked fight scenes. If you want a sincere fighting game to anime transaction, look elsewhere.

| I waited a long time since the first Street Fighter anime for this one. Boy, was I disappointed. The story in this movie was, well... ...really bad. The movie would have been better off as a collection of action scenes with no story what-so-ever, at least then it would have been true to itself. Instead, you're given a convoluted plot that doesn't make any sense, and a bad guy that you've never heard of. The action is pretty good, but I'd rather watch the older movie any day.
