Blame! manga is one of the most unique and influential titles I've read. A must read for sci-fi fans. It is also one of the best designed mangas. No wonder since I read the mangaka studied also architecture and is well versed into drawing complex structures.
The manga is unique because in comparison to other mangas the difference is that the story isnt developed through dialog but through the design. Not many mangas can perform that task so well. In fact the mangaka said that if it was up to him he preferred the manga not to feature any dialog at all. As a result the story turns out very confusing in the end and I'll probably have to re-read the last 3 volumes. But even so reading the manga provides a unique experience.
First of all thanks to the haunting design. No other sci-fi manga manages to transfer such a nightmarish cyberpunk setting so well. Even to those who like comics and hate manga I'd recommend reading Blame since the mangaka also took part in comics (notably Wolverine) and his style may look familiar to those not versed in manga.
The characters gain a lot thanks to the design. That stark black-white contrast makes them memorable, especially the female characters. There isnt any noteworthy interaction but mainly action scenes and they are much more influential than many shounen titles I've read. Also some scenes in cyberspace are impressive.
If you liked to have a good sci-fi manga describing every detail of the settings, better read GITS that is the extremely opposite of BLAME since it is mainly text-oriented.
As it is BLAME is of the most influential titles I've read. Recommended to readers who have some experience reading comics and graphic novels, since the manga is influenced by titles outside Japan. So this is not the typical manga for you

| A decent manga... a lot of weird things that happen, but not a very good story. I think the only good part of this manga is how nice everything is drawn. There are a lot of really bloody action scenes that I found to be intriguing.
Although the original idea of climbing up those huge buildings is quite unique, the way that nothing is really put into perspective enough is kind of boring. I haven't read it that long ago, but I don't remember anything story wise from it. The lack of Killy sayng anything interesting also detracts from the interest in this anime. If this became an anime, I'd say it would fail horribly.
Blame is only saved from being a total bore because of its bloody scenes and the ability to zoom through each manga page.

| LOL.... Why did i bother finishing this series. After abondoning it for... who know how many months. I starting reading again after reading the reviews of other people. WOW. Not only did the ending suck... but there is no rasing action nor climax. All character looks about the same- the only one you can really identify are Cibo and Killy and the robots. HAHA. Well if you are looking for a series that is all based imagination and doesn't make much sense... you have looked into the right series.

Before reading this manga you should at least have these prerequisites:
- Good in understanding and analysis.
- Good comprehension
- Good imagination
- Good eyesight
- Must have read the Noise manga, which is the prequel to Blame.
First of all I have never seen a manga like this before, it is far different from other mangas out there. It’s very unique and captivating. What I really liked about this manga is its uniqueness and its very cool art. Characters go straight to the point. The action is really great; the art really expresses their actions. Characters don’t stall by talking nonsense and just let their weapons do the talking. Battles end quickly which it really should be.
Story
The story is very interesting. It’s about a man named Killy in his quest to find network genes, together with his super cool gun. The first chapters starts with no introduction and makes you think on what the hell is going on. You’ll eventually crave for information and become glued to Blame. It becomes very confusing at the end of volume 8 and the early parts of volume 9. The lack of dialogue can sometimes makes it misleading and hard to comprehend. Sometimes it conveys the story through action and not through dialogue. It is best to fully analyze and understand a part before moving on.
Art and character designs
The drawing and layout is amazing and very unique. Characters are drawn quite well. Some villains are really cool and have wicked looks. The backgrounds are very detailed, but sometimes it would take some time to analyze it. Sometimes characters may be confusing, some characters resemble other characters that could become misleading. It is even sometimes hard to analyze a characters gender. What is really great about Blame is that it was drawn to tell what is happening without any dialogue at all.
Overall this manga is very good. It is also one of the best mangas I’ve ever read, aside from Berserk and Blade of the Immortal.

| Well this is a good manga overall, a bit confusing though, so you might need to read a few times to fully understand it, it also helps if you get a hold of the prequel of Blame! called Noise, it really helps to understand the world of Blame! and how did it turned that way

| I highly recomend this series to anyone, but make sure you read farther past the very first chapter (yea, it's really confusing) sometimes the lack of dialog confuses the hell outta me, but all in all, it normally explains itself later. Besides, Killy is often alone, so who would he talk to?

| Este manga de Tsutomu Nihei es una obra impresionante en lo referente al diseño, te puedes perder en sus escenarios y en sus fondos, y es que practicamente es eso lo que haces, porque tiene poco dialogo...tal vez eso haga que la historia se embrolle más y más y se torne confusa, pero a partir del Volumen 3 la historia se vuelve MUY interesante, empieza a desarrollarse más rápida la trama y no se te cargan tantas viñetas con simples dibujos...
En general, es un manga al que le debes dar un vistazo obligado. Y dentro de (espero) no mucho, saldrá el anime.

| Blame is a great manga with nice drawings. It's the niciest I've seen. The story is weird and hard to follow but the more you watch it, the more you understand it. There is several mysterious element in the manga.
Tsutomu Nihei is a great mangakai. He has a special way to make the adventure go forward and he has is own narration technic.
Blame is a special innovative manga.
