| Eins kann ich, wie auch sonst immer, schon einmal vorweg nehmen: Auch "Crossroads in the Ancient Capital" ist ein Conan-Movie mit Unterhaltungsgarantie. Allerdings muss ich sagen das mir dieser Film nicht ganz soooo gut gefallen hat wie die Restlichen die ich bereits gesehen habe. Zwar ist der, dem Film zugrunde liegende Fall, gewohnt interessant und mysteriös genug um bis zum Ende zu unterhalten aber dem Film fehlen dennoch irgendwie diese gewissen Momente in denen man es vor Anspannung kaum noch aushalten kann und wie wild anfängt an den Nägeln zu kauen. Besonders die 1. Hälfte ist ein wenig schleppend und bietet ausser 2 relativ spektakulären Motorradverfolgungsjagden nicht viel was ihn vom Standardfeeling der TV-Serie abhebt. Ziemlich viel Ermittlerei und wenige Ergebnisse machen den Movie in dieser Phase zeitweilen zur Hängepartie und selbst für Detective Conan ist der Verlauf etwas zu geradlinig. Hälfte 2 boxt das zum Glück wieder raus und neben den üblichen überraschenden Twists entschädigt zu guter Letzt ein, einmal mehr, toller Showdown für die leichte Lethargie von Hälfte 1. Außerdem hat dieser Film, für mich zumindest, noch ein dickes Charakterplus für sich zu verbuchen da mit Heiji Hattori einer meiner Lieblingscharaktere mit von der Partie ist und sich die Story zu einem Großteil um ihn dreht. Schlussendlich ist "Crossroads in the Ancient Capital" ein gelungener Conan-Movie und auch wenn die kleinen Kritikpunkte ihn ein wenig runterziehen kann man hier ruhigen Gewissens reinschauen.

| Nothing less to be expected from the seventh Conan movie --- this is one of the best one I saw thus far. The animation is top notch, a great improvement since the beginning of the series. (Especially the special effect when Conan super-kicks the soccer ball at the cuprit, it looks awesome! And don't forget the sword fights which occurs between Heji and the cuprit at the end, it was a treat to see it...)
The sound was well done, playing suspense music during mystery solving and playing intense music during the fight scenes.
Story - The only let down of this movie is the excessive amount of talking rather than real detective deduction. This wasn't really a big factor, but the solution to the mystery itself requires good knowledge of Japanese mythology so I guess I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest :)
Other than that, even Shinchi makes an appearance, even for a short while. The development is great. You won't want to miss this movie!

| This Detective Conan includes a lot of history coming from old Japanese Monogatari Tales and various Buddhist stuff along with crime ring stuff, and even if you don't much about that, this story is very interesting.
Has the typical Detective Conan style problem solving puzzles. However, it may be a little less in this particular movie.
In contrast to other Detective Conan movies, this is more on a mysterious and mystical appeal, less of a romance between Shinichi/Conan and Ran asin before, and more action-fighting based instead of just a lot of evading the traps set by the criminal.
Animation is great especially for those other Conan I've seen, although not really paying attention to details, it is very eye-appeasing and is very suitable for this style of movie. Interesting computer graphic motorcycle chase scenes, that is different, although might be kind of too mainstream.
Again, sound isn't very special but it does very well and has good timing. Suitable to the theme that is revolves around this particular movie.
Overall a very enjoyable and fun movie with the only bad part is it is kind of too much talking at times and not enough problem solving, if you don't like this in your detective conan movies. Also, its not really fast paced sometimes. Ending is quite intereting and worth to watch for this.
