| VERY OVER-rated anime, deserves its spot in the top 10 worst instead of the top 200! yikes...
**update not in top 200 anymore, lol.
this anime has aboslutely no substance there is just lame fan-service, no plot or an extremely stupid plot
it reminded me of harems with some of the stuff it did (very bad sign!)
It's a waste of time, stay FAR AWAY!

| I hate to say this, but this anime would have worked better as two separate stories, one ecchi and one the cutsey love. Ai, Mai, and Mii (sorry, no Strawberry Eggs here) travel in their time and space traveling mansion to help others and sell Christmas stuff. The ultimate lesson - that family can be the best friends you have - is told with a romantic tearjerking story at the end. Keith and Mea - the two who help them through their journey are well crafted.

| An odd little show this is. Three sisters and a "maid" traveling thru time in a big Xmas-themed house. Just what are they searching for, and why does Ai like talking to weeds??
Well, I quite enjoyed this show, altho the main cast had a bit of trouble keeping their clothes on! It seemed that everything had to be discussed in the bath, or at the hot springs. Even with these distractions, there is a strong theme of "belonging" running thru the story. I thought the parts involving Mai were well done and quite sad. Also, there is a kind of resolution at the end... of sorts.
The animation wasn't brilliant, but stayed consistent, and I like the character designs.
I thought the BGM was quite good, and suited the mood. The ED theme is fun - I like that tune, and the dancing flowers - yeah!
The characters weren't explored a great deal - virtually nothing from their pasts. Mea was fun as the deadpan maid, but there were a lot of unexplained questions about who (or what) she actually was. In fact, there wasn't much explaining of anything - but somehow I seemed to like the mystery.
Overall, a nice little diversion. Just don't expect to have anything explained.

| Popotan is really just ecchi, with a story which could be exploited more, but leaves actually little behind. There is frontal nudity in this anime. The anime seems heavy, but its really very light. This anime does have lots of fanservice, but thats just the best thing about it.

| Juz another overrated anime IMO. The ecchi scenes could have been removed and replaced with more meaningful scenes to push the story forward.
The characters don't have much of a unique personality. Since the first episode, I've been wondering what was happening. Why they were teleporting around like nuts. Until the second half revealed it was time travel. But for what purpose? The story simply doesn't reveal it. And talking to flowers? Oh c'mon that is like so dumb.
The side characters like Daichi, Konami didn't seem to impact the storyline much enough for them to be recast in later episodes.
The music has got to be the most irritating factor. The OP & ED really grounded my nerves when I heard it for the first time. It's simply horrible to the max.
The story is my main complain, it's weak and doesn't have much of a substance to make me wanna watch anymore. But nonethesless, I finished watching just for the sake of completeness.

| For the first few episodes, Popotan seems to be full of filler episodes and fan service. But once the series got past the half way point, the main story picks up and you will immediately know that all the previous episodes are just a setup for something big at the end! Knowing that this anime is adapted from an h-game, it certainly is one step above most other h-game converted anime.
The animation is pretty good, although some close up shots of characters lacked facial details, otherwise most characters are wonderfully drawn.
Sound is another strong point for Popotan. The seiyuu all manage to provide enought tension and feelings into their roles so that the latter half of the series makes an impact to the viewers heart. The opening and ending also provides a unique yet very appropriate atmosphere of the anime.
The story is definitely one of its strong point for Popotan. As said, the first half might seem trivial, but they all play a pivotal role at the second half, when the story finally reveals the reason for the main characters to time travel. Personally I loved Mai's story, and Ai's story is the weakest, but as a whole it will very likely grabs a few of the viewers' tears at the last two episodes.
The main characters are all wonderfully explained in this anime. This is something that is quite surprising coming from an anime that is based on an h-game. I believe the other anime that have accomplished this is Mizuiro 2003. Anyway, the only character that can be explained better is Mare, the maid, but she is more trivial and plays a much lesser role in the story.
I actually enjoyed Popotan quite well after the first half, and find this quite a unique experience from the rest of its genre. It is a risky move to put drama into this anime, but at the end, it pays off quite well to be a solid drama anime.

| I'm very disappointed in some of the reviews Popotan is getting. It makes me mad that everyone thinks the ecchi is the 'best part' of this anime. You people sicken me. I agree strongly with Radeonic and others who noticed how dramatic Popotan is. Sure, it's an H-game turned anime, it's an ecchi overload and seemingly has a small plot, but, Popotan is so much more. This anime is very special and is one of my personal favorites. I really cannot stretch how emotional Popotan gets in the end. Very underrated. But hopefully it'll get it's spot on the top 100. It certainly deserves it.. Just read some of the reviews before mine, you'll see that anyone who has an open mind has said the same thing as me. Popotan is a surprise. It starts weak, ends strong.
I am very shocked at the ending of this anime. It nearly brought me to tears, it was so wonderful. Oh, and I would just like you to know that this anime idoes have tons of drama in it, which is not mentioned in the genres.
Anyhow, Popotan started off slow, and I'm glad I had waited to review this until the end or else I would have given it very low ratings. The story, I still do not understand. What were they searching for? Why were they talking to the tanpopo? Who knows. But perhaps that is what was meant to happen; you know, to leave you wondering. Every episode that I thought was a filler actually added up to the ending, and every episode had a purpose.
And, I'm sure you have heard there is alot of fanservice in this anime. Well, the fanservice is not at all what this anime is about. Yes, there is a bath scene in every episode, but it's mainly just a time to discuss things, and the nudity is to keep those perverted old men watching. Actually, it is very dramatic towards the end, and Popotan is not all about ecchi at all.
In fact this is the first anime that even got me close to crying. Only the first half of the anime was comedy, and at the second half, it was complete drama.
At first the story was weak, then it became the strongest point of the show. Any episode that was a considered a filler at the beginning, it actually added up to the ending. Mai's story definitly had more potential than the others, and was alittle bit different as well. Her's was pretty much like a two parter, while Mii and Ai's second stories were hardly connected to the first. In fact, Mii's second story had nothing to do with the first. Ai's did alittle, however Daichi wasn't exactly my favorite character, which also made Ai one of my least favorites. She is cute though, I'll give her that. They're all cute characters, very well drawn and portrayed. I love anything by this character designer. (Nurse Witch Komugi, other cute stuff that's all shiny and very detailed...) Poyoyon Rock are great character designers.
The animation isn't the strongest point; the movements aren't smooth although the art style is beautiful. The music I absolutely loved. I already mentioned characters and story above. Overall you will have to get past the crummy first few episodes to get to the drama, and then this turns out to be a great anime. This will have you laughing, crying, and perhaps covering your eyes at the nudity (breast exposure in the first five minutes!) but overall, A+. Highly recomended if you have patience and like drama with tons of memorable characters.

| This is a technically impressive anime that sort of loses its way through all the fanservice and ecchiness distributed here and there (everywhere) on the series.
I don't despite the ecchi factor but here we have too much of it. Both story and value rates are influenced by this.
Technically impressive because arts is amazing, colorful, brilliant. I really liked it, just the character design isn't completely my cup of tea, but backgrounds etc. are very nice.
Opening rocks, but what absolutely amazed me was the Ending, "S U K I" by Funta, a techno-dance song that really remained stuck in my head.
The story ain't bad, although it's kinda slow; predictable ending.
Shortly: Average anime with above-average bases.

| Popotan has a really original story line and a complex compelling plot. The main characters are well developed and the progression of the story at first may seem slow and boring but when half way through you can't get enough.
The animation and sound is up to par with the most recent animes to date. The series concluded with a good emotional ending (hope thats not saying too much) but tons of ecchi, tons. A tad bit of action, romance and comedy but to me is mostly a drama series.
Really well done but only recommened if you are an avid anime fan and are running out of series to purchase/watch for this series even though i found enjoyable doesnt size up too well with the other anime series that have been released when talking in terms of drama and such.
Other than that it was a good show and i had a good time. Recommened for the drama buffs who likes a happy ending, to be watched by older teens and up crazy ecchi (bath scene galor) :)~

| Now, I've been reading what some more American fans have been saying about this series. Yes, it is VERY fanservice heavy. However, underneath all of that lies a real heart. Very few series can get this real in such a fantastical setting. Popotan pulls this off fantastically. I would recommend keeping this away from young children, but if you are looking for a new anime to watch, and are not afraid of extreme fanservice, Popotan should be worth a look.

| Many critics complain that Popotan is all fluff and no substance. After watching this series, I would say almost unconditionally that they're correct. The lack of a strong story, although by no means a requirement, in combination with the lack of any other stylistic elements makes Popotan a real dissapointment. The copious amounts of topless-bath and/or panty shots really compound the lack of substance. Although some of the one shot episodes are especially entertaining,(ie: Mie's Ep3 mahou-shoujo stunts) this series turns out to be nothing more than 6 hour time drain.

| Wow...What a great series.
Not since "Chobits" has an anime gotten me so into the human spirit like "Popotan" has.
The basic story of 3 sisters who travel from place to place with their mansion (by use of magic) is very original. I can't say I remember seeing an anime dealing with magic that tugs so much at the heart strings.
Yes - Its full of fluff and emotion, but I loved it. It also has a slight ecchi tone to it at times, mostly dealing with the wonderfully busty oldest sister - but its really more for laughs and tastefully done.
Admist tough, violent series like "Gungrave" or the thinking man's "Serial Experiment Lain" and the stupidity of "Love Hina" - "Popotan" really filled a void in my anime viewing experience.
It might not be for everyone, but you can't deny its sense of humanity and heart. Beautifully done !

| Well, as has been noted before, this features a stupid quantity of perfectly gratuitous nudity and other fan service. There's no real sexual content, so I am reluctant to call it truly ecchi, but at least once per episode, a woman or disturbingly small girl is bathing or changing or trying on lingerie for no obvious reason.
If you like that sort of thing, you will find it here in abundance. I found it pretty boring.
Underneath all the pervy cheesecake, however, is an attempt at a story on themes of identity, friendship, love, and a sense of belonging. It does so hastily, but at least it tries. I thought the resolution in particular was a rushed, half-hearted mess, but there was at least an attempt at a point.
It's fairly well animated, the extremely vibrant, colorful character designs look pretty good despite the strange taste of its creators, and I personally enjoyed the OP and ED tunes, even if singer Haruko Momoi of Under17 is an acquired taste.
I won't watch it again; I don't recommend anyone spend a lot of money on it. But there are worse titles out there.

| The first few episodes are a little light, and the story seems to have no thread. But then it all starts to come together in a big way! I suppose you could describe it as a morality tale about the true meaning of friendship or something. A great OP and ED, great characters and well rounded and perfectly paced storlyine make this one not to be missed!
A little ecchi in places (some nudity, some panty shots etc), but not enough to worry anyone.

| Popotan is warm, magical, beautiful and charming but kinda frustrating...
--this review has a little of spoiler--
When Popotan ends, it leaves the charming portraits of each of the main characters, the beautiful tales of friendship, the same magic that we feel when remembering happy moments of our life and the warmth of good dreams. But you'll watch the last episode with the same answers you had before watching the first one: none. Even so, I prefer to ignore this detail and enjoy.
Popotan won't tell you "causes" or "motives", only the consequences. You won't know why or how the characters are traveling, only who they are and what they feel.

| This had a very slow start which is really too bad considering the ending was very nice. A big surprise on how it turns out! The only other thing I didn't like was it was too much ecchi >.< I didn't know this had ecchi in it till I saw it. I really liked the story though and I don't think it really is for kids. It has nice animation in it. I liked all the bright colors. Also very nice music. I have to get the OST ^__^. I would recommend getting this, but keep in mind of the ecchi and it has a slow start. But its only 12 episodes so you can finish it pretty fast ^_~.

| I'm really surprised by this little seris. At first I thought it's just some fan service anime coverted from some no name hgame, but it turns out to be a real shocker. I guess those people who said the theme was too childish never watched past the first 4 or 5 episodes... the early episodes are basically just setting up the characters, later the theme becomes really mature and emotional, as how each of the characters try to find their happiness in life while avoid hurting people around them, when they are on a journey through time and have to disappear without saying goodbyes to their just acquired friends. It's not something trying to mess up your mind terribly like EVA, but still it deals with some serious themes like purpose of life, happiness and friendship.
The animation is good, and the music is wonderful, really adds to some plot scenes. I totally enjoy this anime series, which is quite a nice surprise.
