Following off from the other works of Matsumoto Reiji, though Galaxy Railways seems to lack the depth of its older counterparts, it is still quite entertaining most of the time.

I just don't understand this type of anime. Galaxy Railway...

Animation looks quite nice, but other than that, I wasn't interested at all.
I am too tired of those animes which deal primarily with carrying out some dream and just knocking away obstacles, dealing with their situations and stuff..

If you dont' watch much anime. Maybe you'll like it, but i've seen too much good anime that is somewhat/revolves around this theme....

Its a pretty good series, something light and sometimes suspensefull. This is does not continue the story of the Galaxy Railways, but is a different story about Manubu Yukki. The character are similar to Harlock and others, but don't let that judge the story, if there is one so far. I am at 20 and haven't seen a story, but its just adventures of the Sirus Group. The show is still good though. Everyone who is fond of the Harlock series will enjoy this, and even if your not try this out, if your looking for something light and relaxing.

This is a great remake of the old school styled series of Leiji Matsumoto.

A good analogy would be a star trek version albeit a space train for universal transportation across the universe.

THe storyline is especially original and each successive episode (watched 7 episodes so far) builds on the previous.

THe first few episodes are especially nostalgic and perhaps tragic, but sets the main premise and mood for the adventures of Yuuki following the footsteps of his older brother and father before him

THe music soundtrack is both nostalgic and brilliant in an old way. THose who appreciate japnese culture and music and 70-80s styled animation and drama, will appreciate this all the more.

Unfortunately, the younger generation or those not so acquainted with japanese ways may not full appreciate this anime and will miss out on a generation of what original animation was all about.

Top notch anime indeed!

Since Captain Harlock (Albator 78), I'm a big fan of Matsumoto Reiji's work. Although I like Queen Emeraldas better, I am enjoying this new series.

My impression is that it is targetted at the nostalgic crowd who've seen the above mentioned anime. The other usual type of fanservice is also present in one of the early eps: the camera zooming on a nurse's buttocks while she was dressing up did not further the story. Whatever.

Unlike most of reviwers, who doesn't seem to appreciate this another masterpiece based on the universe of Lieji Matsumoto I highly appreciate this incursion into the universe of Galaxy Express. The original manga and TV series come in 1978 (113 episodes) and 2 movies (1979 and 1981). A third was release in 1998. They revolve arround the Galaxy Express 999 the train of No return where you'll embark in exchange of a fortune, for a hope of better life. The main caracter were Tetsuro Hoshino, a young boy who desire to get a mechanical body to avenge his mother death and the beautiful yet mysterious Maetel who grant him his pass in exchange for his compagny. It's a epic odyssey on the edge of death and life, dark and tragic, poetic and powerful, the perfect demonstration of Matsumoto original majestic trademark. Many legendary caracters from other series cross their paths Captain Harlock, Tochiro and Queen Emeraldas ...
It's to soon to tell if any of them show up in Galaxy Railways but this anime is sure promising: dark story and deep tragic caracters, high quality animation with high class tunes. Another fine addition in the Matsumoto flood of the last few years (Galaxy Express Movie: Eternal Fantasy, Harlock Saga, Queen Emeraldas, Cosmo Warrior Zero, Gun Frontier & Capitain Harlock Endless Odyssey
