| Well, I dont see how this anime doesnt have a higher score. I pulled an all-nighter just to watch it. Very few animes can keep my attention that long. Ive left more animes unfinished then finished, a fact that Im not very proud of. So few anime can make me want to watch the next episode and then get mad at my computer for not loading it fast enough.
I dont see myself rewatching Avenger anytime soon though. That was the one bad point, it's very confusing but once I reached the end, I didnt want to go back to episode 1 just to try and figure out the show.
I liked the characters. It's been a while since Ive seen an anime where the lead doesn't talk and it works. As a matter of fact, Ive never seen an anime like that. When a lead character only says one line in an episode, in most cases here it's, "Try to kill me," it would probably lose my interest before I reached half of episode 1; but Avenger held my interest and I could not stop watching.

| Avenger is a highly underrated anime that deserves a lot more recognizition. It uses long pauses and minor conversation, but still manages to be enjoyable.

| From the makers of Noir comes this EVEN better anime. They have totally captured the feelings and the atmosphere of the leadcharacters as well as the whole surroundings. This is great stuff! The music is superb and the animation even tops Noir. The show has a pretty slow start with the first five episodes, but that it only to create the mystery and feel of the overall show. From there on it really is just a thrillride of very good anime. State of the art! VERY recommended!

| Ein Anime mit lauter aufwendig komponierter Musik, dem typischen weiblichen Duo welches im Mittelpunkt steht und durchgehend zäher Handlung? Richtig, dabei kann es sich nur zwangsläufig um eine Bee Train-Serie handeln und Avenger ist nicht nur langweiliger als andere Titel dieses Studios mit diesen Merkmalen (siehe Noir) sondern obendrein noch unerträglich flach und anspruchslos. Angefangen mit dem Setting der Serie: Mal wieder verschlägt es uns in eine apokalyptische Welt, wo die Ressourcen knapp sind und die Menschen in ärmlichen Verhältnissen leben müssen. Das alles natürlich inklusive ernster Themen wie zB Ressourcenknappheit oder Umweltverschmutzung. Alles schon zig Mal da gewesen, wenig originell und dürfte schon seit längerer Zeit niemanden hinter dem Ofen hervor locken. "Ein wenig innovatives Setting ist ja zum Glück nicht alles, so was kann durch einen spannenden Storyverlauf und hochinteressante Charaktere schließlich locker wettgemacht werden". Das ist zwar durchaus richtig aber Avenger bietet leider nichts von alle dem. Bereits nach den ersten Episoden konnte ich in der Serie nichts, aber auch gar nichts erkennen was mich auch nur in kleinster Weise dazu motivieren konnte den Anime mit Interesse oder hohen Erwartungen weiter zu verfolgen. Die Story schleicht im Schneckentempo daher und frustriert mit allzu offensichtlichen Twists die schon kilometerweit im Voraus zu erahnen sind. Es wird nichts Überraschendes geboten und jede Episode ist inhaltlich so unheimlich matt und öde das es schwer fällt nicht mit bleischweren Augenliedern in den Sessel zu plumpsen. Auch von den Charakteren kommt viel zu wenig: Man hat hier wohl gedacht es würde reichen den Protagonisten eine geheimnisvolle Vergangenheit zu verpassen die sich dem Zuschauer erst nach und nach erschließt um die Serie durchgängig über Wasser zu halten. Da man sich viele der dadurch aufgeworfenen Fragen, dank der Transparenz der Figuren und der Handlung, aber ohne großartige Anstrengungen selbst beantworten kann, schlägt dieser Versuch fehl und sorgt dafür das Avenger bereits nach kürzester Zeit böse aufs Gesicht fällt und sich bis zum Ende nicht mehr aufrappeln kann. Normalerweise brauche ich 3-4 Tage um eine 13 Episoden-Serie abzuschließen aber bei Avenger sind es am Schluss 2 Wochen geworden. Ich musste jedes Mal regelrecht mit mir kämpfen bevor ich die nächste Episode in Angriff genommen habe und das spricht mehr als deutlich gegen diesen Anime. Insgesamt gehört Avenger für mich zu den langweiligsten Erfahrungen der letzten Monate und ich kann nur tunlichst von dieser Serie abraten, es sei denn man leidet an Schlaflosigkeit und hat kein Schlafmittel zur Hand.

| It's a nice series. It really makes you think a lot because of those long pauses they make. ^^;. I'm sure you guys will love the series. You can actually see all the effort they made. I love it. ^^

| This anime is either a love it or a hate it anime.
And unfortunately I hate it. Animation wise and music wise this anime was really good. The main problem with Avenger is that the story does not go anywhere. When you check the timer to see how long is left in an episode, it usually does not bode well as to how the story is progressing.
Lelia was not a dynamic character. One could not feel her emotions or even understand why she would perform an action.

| To start with, the music is very unusual, composed with drums and violins, along with other "strange" sounds and beats.
I've never heard anything like that in an anime before, but it surely works, it sounds really good, and I loved the opening song alot.
The animation is also very well done, with good detailed drawing, along with nice colours.
I liked the characters, we have the cute Nei, the tech nerd Speedy, and the cool-looking, fast-fighting Leila(doesn't say so much).
I like the atmosphere in Avenger, and how it takes place, but what I do not like is how they are developing the story. There are alot of "gaps" in the story, you never really get to know alot about most things, and that leaves you wondering what really happens.
Another confusing thing was the ending, I didn't understand why Leila did as she did, nor did I understand what was going on with Nei or the planet, so therefore I can't really say if I liked or disliked how the ending was put out.
So how's the enjoyment-level then?
Well, I enjoyed it most of the episodes, but sometimes it got too slow, without anything happening. Most of the fightingscenes were done bad also, they try to make it look god, but it just looks bad and cheap(doesn't apply to all scenes).
Overall I must say it was better than I thought it would be, and it was worth watching, so give it a try.

| I somehow feel betrayed by the opening of this anime, catchy music, and what seems to be a nice action-packed sequence. The series has little action and not too much enjoyable music.
Animation - Personally I enjoyed the animation quite a bit, but the constant panning, and zoom in/out kind of made me think twice about how good the animation quality was.
Sound - The opening theme song was catchy, almost too catchy, the music in the anime itself was bland and very mellow, I couldn't get into it too much.
Story - Somewhat sadistic father beats up his own daughter to make her stronger, now she wants to get her revenge. Not a bad Idea, but lacked good execution.
Character - Nei a doll with different colored eyes, quiet and obedient, Layla, also quiet, very reserved, and Speedy, pretty much the opposite of the other two, and coincidently my favorite character.
Value - It was vanilla, way too slow at times, it'll be watched again, maybe after I've watched my favorites two or three times.
Enjoyment - Again just another bland anime that 'didn't do it for me.' Very hard to watch at times. Makes me want to say, "I'll try and kill you."

| The story kinda reminded me of Final Fantasy VII for some reason, Avenger has a good mood and the visuals and music are great. But it lacks the easthetic quality of other Bee Train productions such as Noir and .hack//sign.

| Should this series ever be added to a common dictionary, the entry would simply be: Avenger, see 'boring'.
It somehow has an interesting setting, with Mars and the "Dolls" and all the rest. But then somehow they forgot to throw in some story and action. They could've told the same story in a normal feature length movie, but instead decided to stretch it to 13 episodes. The outcome kinda reminds me of a slide-show, since a lot of this series is based on non-moving (besides flowing hair etc) panels which scroll over the screen. Average word count must be about 10 in 5 minutes.
This series could've been good, if only something would happen between the intro and the outro.

| After watching the first episode of Avenger, I thought to myself 'Well, I'm going to look forward to Layla and Nei's adventures every week!', so I was really disappointed when it ended with episode 13! Well, I did watch all 13, so I'm here to review now~
First, why do the majority of people dislike this? I think this is a wonderful piece of anime, because it leaves the mysteries alone. It lets us learn about the journey, grow attached to Speedy and Layla. It leaves us confused for most of the show, but yet, I still liked it. Maybe being confused for most of a show isn't good for most people...ahahaha
A weakness is that the show should have had more episodes. Going more in depth about what exactly Nei was would have been beneficial. However, I won't wish for an Avenger 2, because it's over now. It ended, with a sense of finality. Layla has an honorable story, and I think I'll never be able to forget her ^_^

| I feel like I've wasted a good portion of my life watching this, and let me explain why. The major thing that gets me the most about this anime is the art of dramatic pausing. Dramatic pausing can be good for animes, add a roughness or depth to a character or situation. The thing is, this anime didnt understand the art of dramatic pausing. They (meaning the majority of the main characters) paused non-stop, to the point where it wasnt dramatic, but made them appear like their brain signals werent firing. It was so annoying, that I did something I never do when I watch animes - I started to throw the episodes into VideoLan and cranked up to triple speed or so to watch them. So annoying.
Animation - Sure, the scenery and drawings were nice, but what the hell "animation" was there? the majority of the time they drew one picture, than moved the camera from one end of it, to the other. (such as the eye shots) the fight sequences were the only saving grace i felt.
Sound - the opening track was pretty good but, with so many pauses, no ones talking. Music was forgettable.
Story - kind of bland. The mars world they created is kind of desolate and hope-ridden. The main story deals with Leyla wanting revenge, but it kind of sucked. I was more interested in the Nei aspect of the story.
Character - Nei and Speedy prevent this score from falling any lower. Everyone else has the perosnality of a dry board. Especially the main character, who says something of an average of 8 words an episode.
Enjoyment -The fight scenes were somewhat fair, especially the last one. The rest was unintriguing and time-wasting. Much better animes out there.

| Quite a mediocre series.
Animation's good as usual. Sceneries look very nice.
Few catchy BGMs, but opening and ending songs are just horrible.
Settings for the story seem interesting in the beginning, but the edge is quicky lost. In the end, the story is quite boring and mostly predictable. It doesn't give too much to its viewers.
Characters are also very boring, plain and uninteresting for my taste.
The title Avenger looked inviting, but frustration was the main thing I got out of this.

| The story is really slow and the plot is simple. The animation is far abowe average, but not more. The music is sometimes boring, sometimes good. It fits the atmosphere well most of the time. I liked the main character, though I can understand that some people find her irritating when she rarely speaks or show any emotions. The reason why I don't rate the character higher is that there isn't much character developpment, except maybe in the last few episodes. I would not recomend this series to every people I meet, but I if you have got the time and like slow plots you can give it a try. I watched the whole series without ever wanting to give it up, and the ending kinda left me in a good mood.

| IMHO:
Animation and sound somewhere between fair and slightly above average.
Story was simple enough.
Plot is revenge, i think.
Concept not bad, something like surviving on limited resources and dying population dynamics; plus sterility brought on by... ?lack of know-how?
Characters lack depth although there is a clear attempt in this department.
Someone said something about the strangeness of using guns to start swordfights that decide population outcome in a technologically/medically advanced setting - i couldn't agree more and even have something to add/ask - shouldn't the moronic people(s) be focusing on something like terraforming etc, instead of technology when they can't really feed themselves?
But i don't expect it to be realistic anyway, so i shouldn't gripe too much.
Pace was OK, despite a lot of people saying it's too slow. It definitely was slow in some parts, but faster in others. The ending seems to have dragged on in the penultimate episode but hushed in the last. I bet the impatient ones just wanted action.
A lot of dudes out there like to compare this anime with Noir and .hack//sign, all productions of the same company.
Noir was similarly paced but had a better story despite similar plot (revenge). Much more watchable.
.hack*.*http://www.sign was just pure torture to me and i felt sick watching the wuss-of-a-lead-character, thriving off my dislike for Wimps’R’Us. That totally distracted me from whatever qualities (good or bad) it had, so it’s impossible to comment really.
But it's not fair to compare any anime with one another to begin with.
This anime is not for those who desire action, nor for impatient people.
If you take the time to figure out what's going on and look at the problems the characters face, you wouldn't have wasted time watching this anime.
Overall while the concept was promising, a lot more could have been done with 13 episodes. A lot of potential not exploited.
To review a series one should at least finish it first, and preferably be objective.

| The Music was deffinatly the best part of this anime. The story is a little flat, I think they tried to cram a longer story into 13 episodes, and it shows. The charictors were so so, I think they could have been developed better, it was hard to see the motivatios for their actions, meaning why they made the decisions that they did. Other than that the setting was nice, I like the atmasphere the anime created. Plus the fight scenes were prety cool. Overall it entertained me even though it is not my favorite.

| hmm..i must say..in the end of the show,i used to be confused about this anime. I was like, wat is this crap? BUT, Watching the 13th ep. the 2nd time and actually watching the opening, i started to see something new to this show. Maybe i'm crazy. Well, if i got it right,Avenger has stuff to do with Mythology, fate, and humanity. If you only like anime that tells you right out wat the story's about, go watch something else. If you like more faster paced stuff, watch something else, obviously. If you read and enjoy mythology though, come over and give this a try.

| AARRGGGHHH!!! This story!! It doesn't have a lot of holes! The damn thing is one big hole! So much is unexplained in this. How the hell do they not notice Nei is a girl? Robots don't need to eat or produce body waste or sleep or breath do they? And what the heck, how is Nei an it and be human? And just the complete lack of all other explainations in this series really lowers the story score, even if the story itself was interesting. The animation's good. The music is good, but obviously bastarized from other stuff (most notably the fight music is a jazzed up version of the theme from the movie The Rock). There's also some obscure FF music that's been bastardized. This recycling of other people's music bothered me, thus the lowered score. The characters suffer from the complete lack of explaination in the story. I'm glad to see a main character not using a sword (tonfas are defintely unique). Objectively, I must admit that this series is below average. Yet I still enjoy (while staying pissed at) it. So, give it a look if you're bored and got nothing else to do.

| I really liked this anime...
I think lots of people didn't like it because they don't understand that Laily, the main character, is very interesting. Thought she doesn't speak, you have to see on her face what she's saying. I love her expression, she also have such beautiful eyes^^.
The story is interesting but a little complicated at first. The animation is great and the sound is one of the best i've ever heard.
I think you must watch it but only if you like dark stories. The end suits the serie well but she lets you think what happens next.
