I believe that it is necessary to base the evalusation of this anime with comparasion with previous anime experiences and the previous GITS movies/series.
Animation: I believe that the animation could have been better. The faces were not depiced as detailed as in the original anime movie, although the overall graphics was a bit better in these series (no wonder 2004 vs. 1995). Also, popular Japanese anime facial expressions shown after the certain statement when this anime should have been a serious one with real-like characters contributed toward the deduction of the points.
Sound: there was nothing impressive to listen to (not like Innoscence soundtrack where the 3-D effects could have been visualised by manipulating the sound).
Story: it was surely very interesting and unpredictable. I enjoyed the side stories of Section 9 members. The only complaint I have is that at some instances the story was designed purely upon the popular Japanese anime standarts such as ep.17.
Character: characters lacked solidity; exagerated facial expressions, conversatios of the character to him/herself to express his/her thoughts, bad vs. good people (unlike Ghost in the Shell 1st GiG or original anime) and popular Japanese action standarts diminished any hope of the realisticity of the characters.
Value: I would not want it to watch again and I do not believe that a very good anime to be included in my collection.
Enjoyment: I would not recoment this anime to watch to others if they are searching somenthing original, extraordinary, or good. It's just a typical anime. There are much more animes' to be enjoyed than this one.

i finally finished ghost in the shell SAC 1 and 2. and i have to say that sometimes i astonish my self. having had it on my hdd for OVER A YEAR. when i was about to delete it i decided i’d force myself to watch 3 eps because i knew that i should like a show as intelligent as it but the lack of overarching stories was ruining it for me and making me sleep. suffice to say after watching ep 21 i figured i should just catch the ending and i was blown away. to the point where i was asking myself what was wrong with me. ep 21 was especially phenomenal and it was a great show.

however 2nd gig is about a 10000 times better than the 1st gig and is at its heart a love story and an overarching story. a mudafucking love story in ghost in the shell. and it will break your heart many times over. yes ghost in the shell has a love story, and it will break you. i couldnt believe it myself. until i found myself dl the soundtrack (yoko kanno is not human by the way, she is a heavenly siren entity) and i listened and listened to the point where it just hurt to think about the story. and not hurt in a bad way, but in the way that u know spike dies when u listen to the bebop ost or when u listen to the wolfs rain ost. u know they die and its sad but it isnt at the same time…. not sure if it makes sense.

this is why i watch anime. to feeeeeel. lol. check out gits if anything just watch 2nd gig. it took me 2 yrs to watch 8 eps of 1st gig lol. however i powered thru 2nd gig in a day. i guess it shows how much ive grown?? just watch 2nd gig u wont regret it.

ive been listening to the ghost in the shell ost for a whole day now even in my car, doing laundry and washing dishes… and do u ever notice that people who dont even watch anime like yoko kanno’s music w/out knowing it?? i was with my boys and all in my car going to the mall and they were like yo this jazz shit is tight… and i was like yea… i know… lol… i told u she wasnt human…

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG is the sequel to the successful Action Sci-fi Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime series, with a noticeable decline in action and increase in sophistication.

Nothing has changed animation wise in 2nd GIG. There is still an impressive amount of computer generated scenes integrated throughout the anime, although some of the character designs have changed slightly - mostly for the worse in my opinion. The number of action sequences have been reduced, and the number of discussions are more frequent. This has lead to an increase in static content throughout the anime, and has brought the overall quality of the anime down in comparison with the prequel.

Although the opening and ending theme songs have changed - also for the worse in my opinion, everything else in regards to audio have stayed the same.

The storyline in 2nd GIG is much more political and complex than the first series. The viewer is kept in the dark as to what is going on and who the main villain is until the final few episodes. That aside, the formula that most episodes all have an independent storyline which subconsciously contribute to the main storyline is still there, and is still as good. However, just like the first series, 2nd GIG's conclusion could have been better. A lot better in my opinion.

There is considerably more development of the main characters in 2nd GIG, and the arch villain has an excellent personality. However, a few of main characters are still left undeveloped, although this is barely noticeable and will definitely not damage the overall enjoyment by much, if at all.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG, despite a decrease in action, is still a very enjoyable anime to watch. Most of the tried-and-tested formula from the first series are there, like the fast pace, independent storylines, and seamless integration of computer generated scenes. This anime is definitely a must watch for Ghost in the Shell fans, and will no doubt be very enjoyable for people who liked the first series. I would strongly recommend new viewers to watch the first series prior to this because, although not necessary for understanding the storyline, the first series was definitely more entertaining and enjoyable.

While the movies do not link up with the TV series, this is a greater watch compared to the prequel. There has been noticeable improvements in animation compared to the first gig and I definitely prefer to see the Major wearing a pants rather than her old "swimsuit" and knee high boots. While the lack of Tachikoma in this gig is somewhat a letdown, I supposed there's not much more development to be made about them since it has pretty much been covered fully in the first one. I also like how the story this time round is more complex than the "Laughing Man" incident and there is also better character development in this one which was seriously lacking the first gig. If I had not watched the 1995 movie, I doubt I would have even bothered to continue watching the 1st gig. Overall, this anime is a great watch with unique characters and would definitely let your emotions sway.

This anime is good but not ass good as S1 as the story is more confusing than before. The only thing with GITS is that it manages to create one big story which at the end of the day you either understand it or left clueless. So its best to actually see S1 first as the character introduction mostly is made there. Though both story have little story relation at all.

Here goes yet another sequel to once a stand alone movie, though this time around it would be more specific to call it a Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.'s prolongation. As anything rather than the world, which actually, was revealed so well in the previous installements that it started to get boring, nothing ties this show with the movies with the same name.

Though I admit that this installement has various improvements since the first S.A.C., for example less fillers and more developed characters, they pretty much overshaded by the not-so-interesting-anymore world. Actually, besides this there is nothing much to tell, it's just as the first installement, it could have easily been a second season rather than a sequel.

I'd recommend this to people who enjoyed Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, as I do not see a point to watch this without watching the first part.

I feel that the ghost in the shell series in general is amazing- because of its depth and sometimes dark themes.

this series is no exception, as we see the major finding herself clashing with the japanese version of the cia and cleaning up the government's rampant corruption. this leg of gits is a political and philisophical thrilller. you will be drawn into it just out of the sheer curiosity you find yourself having with the plot

Unlike most sequels, "Ghost in the Shell: 2nd GIG" is a worthy addition to the "Ghost in the Shell" series. I don't know why I was surprised: the entire "Ghost in the Shell" series is extremely well directed and is able to uphold its' own high standard of quality with every rendition.

The animation, as to be expected of a "Ghost in the Shell" title, is spectacular. Lighting effects, fluid action scenes, stunning character models and military technology, coupled with realistic backgrounds makes this anime the best looking anime of all time. In my opinion, "Ghost in the Shell" is the pinacle of animation today.

The sound is terrific; the opening song "Rise" has become a favorite of mine. Also, the action sound effects (especially in the final episodes with the missles, attack helicopters, stinger missles, etc) were extremely realistic sounding and amazingly done. Also, the voice actors were terrific as usual; flawless acting really makes the series feel more "real".

The story is a step down from the mystery of the "Laughing Man" plot in the first season; this "2nd GIG" discards the subtelty of the first season (which had the Laughing Man cleverly and subtetly injected in the first 20 or so episodes, after which the true plot emerges) and pushes forward with a straightforward plot where we know who the "arch vilian" is in the first few episodes. While I do not think this is bad, per se, and the "2nd GIG" does have a fair few plot twists and surprises, I cannot help but compare this second edition to the first.

However, compared to most anime, this "2nd GIG", with its vast political conspiracies and variety of "villians" each working for their own goals, is a terrific plot which I enjoyed emensely. I also loved the background episodes where we get to know more about the members of Section 9, such as Saito. Also, because the main plotline began in the early episodes, the story in "2nd GIG" was much more fast-paced and easily enjoyable then "1st GIG".

I also enjoyed the veins of conversation in which the "Stand Alone Complex" was discussed in relation to the actions of characters in this series compared with the actions of the Laughing Man in the first series.

The characters in "2nd GIG" were even better than "1st GIG", as we learn more about their backgrounds, motivations, and see them develop over the course of the series. We learn some of the enigmatic Major's background, and find out how Saito met the Major. Even the Tachikomas, who I was fairly indifferent to in the "1st GIG" become much more interesting and play more of a role in this series, and the growth within them is fairly evident by the final episode.

Fans of "Ghost in the Shell" should consider this series to be a must-see. For others, if you thought the "1st GIG" was a bit slow-paced, you will find "2nd GIG" much faster-paced and more enjoyable. Also, for those wishing to get more background on the members of Section 9, this is a must-see. I will probably re-watch this series many a time, in order to grasp the intricacies of the plot and to rewatch the thrilling action scenes.

(Laughing Man fansubs. Sometimes they tried to translate too literally thus making a mess but good effort overall. GITS 2nd GIG isnt of the easiest titles to translate. It requires from the translator to be familiar with some things in sci-fi and political and social sciences)

After watching the 1st GIG I avoided the 2nd. I thought, as it usually happens and from the reviews I've read, that the sequel would be worse. But then I thought I've got nothing to lose by giving it a glimpse. Fortunately it was a good choice. GITS 2nd GIG is of the best 26 episodes action animes I've seen.
Not only that, it adds some more sci-fi elements of the manga along with elements of political and social theories making it indeed an exciting watch.
Only 3-4 episodes were boring but probably because I was tired and didnt have the patience to understand the plot.

SAC 2nd GIG is much better directed than the 1st GIG. It corrects the flaws of the first season, characters are better with at least some background info found only in the series. Especially ep 14 was the best with intense sniper action.
Motoko and Batou show also their softer side and arent always macho as in the the first season.

Considering that in the story of GITS 2nd GIG so many elements were added that they could easily require 50 episodes. The political conspiracies (yet again the American Empire is the arch-villain) and the conflicts with the refugees, the true motive of the Intelligence Agency as well as Kozue's and the inclusion of an attractive female prime minister , combined with amazing action scenes and sometimes complex sci-fi elements make the title a must watch for GITS fans.

As it is the case one can love either the first or the second season or both. I liked only the second season, though the first wasnt bad but it lost a lot with the Laughing Man plot.

Animation and sound meet the standards of 2004, improving from the first season. Good combination of 2D and 3D and intense action. Also good intro and appropriate action and sci-fi music give GITS 2nd GIG the title of the best animes of 2004 and one of the best action/sci-fi anime titles.

A third SAC season has been announced so I'm eager to watch this. Rarely has a manga adaptation been so succesfull, considering it strays completely from the manga's plot.

This, honestly, is one of the most impressive anime titles I've ever seen! Initially, I had a few worries about the title, because like most other sequel titles, they usually fall short of their predecessors. However, this title broke the trend and indefinitely outgrew the 1st GIG. Generally, every category has been taken up the notch, and I congratulate the people responsible for the GITS:SAC 2nd GIG! To Kenji Kamiyama and the crew: I salute you!

SIMILAR TO: Ghost In The Shell 1stGIG

This is the 2nd series of GITS. Obviously, I`m going to make heavy comparisons with the first series, so I would personally advise watching 1stGIG before reading this review or watching this series. (At least, read my review on 1stGIG.)

Visuals: 9 (1stGIG = 10)
The visuals are almost up to par with the first series, but just not quite. Yes the lighting is still splendid and the tone of the scenes with the mood they create are excellent. And since the GITS world hasn`t changed, I have no reason to fault the design and intelligence in the environment and the gadgets and gizmos that the series consists of either. The artwork is great and the 3D work is superb. So why not the perfect score? - well, it`s to do with the nature of the series. I felt that 1stGIG simply had scenes of more grandieur that showcased the visuals more than 2ndGIG did. For example the action. Apart from the last three episodes, there was not as much action in 2ndGIG as there was in the first series, and I never really found myself blown away by something spectacular like I was in 1stGIG.

Sound: 10 (1stGIG = 10)
The sound has been recreated on top form. The sound effects are once again of the highest calibur and sound suitably futuristic yet familiar. The ambiance is kept excellent and is still probably the most impressive aspect of the sound (the subtle things like the humming of machinery or vehicle traffic sounds in the background, add an infinite degree of intricacy to the audio). The character voices - largely unchanged from 1stGIG - are of course excellent - being suitably different when the charcters are communicating verbally or neurologically. The music for the series is the most different aspect of 2ndGIG to 1stGIG - it`s not the same musical score! And yet, it`s still wonderful! I`ve once again gone out and picked up the cd for my collection, and I think it compliments the general tone of the anime incredibly well.

Story: 5 (1stGIG = 7)
Okay, so now we have a significant change of an aspect from the first to the second series. Unlike 1stGIG, I thought that the story of 2ndGIG was decidedly AVERAGE (the midpoint of the scale being `average`, and 5/10 being the midpoint in this case). It didn`t have too many horrendous flaws, but never did I feel it had stand out moments or exceptionally good qualities either. To start with the positives, it was an effortless continuation of the 1st series. It picked up where the first series left off, but still instantly had its own subject matters to deal with, not relying on the closed chapter (1stGIG) before it. The series showed some range in its subplots, and for the first time had episodes concering backstory and more detail on some of the neglected characters. The base plot of 2ndGIG - the "Particularist Eleven" and the Refugee case, were also an interesting premise.

However, there were flaws to the story. The main and overshadowing flaw is that overall, it simply was NOT a very interesting story. It failed to hold my attention, and at one point, I was even considering to quit the series. I felt that 1stGIG had been thought out much more carefully and had more devotion shown to it from the creators. 2ndGIG felt more forced and less passionate. I was not impressed with any plot twists or revelations, and the episodes did not show as great a range in subplot as they did in 1stGIG. Most of the episodes were quiet, and/or political - some to the point of bordom - and even when something truly action packed could have well been shown, it was cut away to something mundane very quickly.

Characters: 7 (1stGIG = 7)
Once again, GITS is not really a focus piece on individual characters, but at least this time there was a noticable effort made to showcase some of the neglected characters. The main squad are still very much the same as they were in the 1st series, except this time there is a bit of backstory given to 1 or 2 of the more neglected characters, and even a bit more to the popular ones. However, it ultimately doesn`t change my opinion of the characters, and doesn`t change the way the story of the series is handled. There is very little reference to it once it`s over, making me wonder if it had any deeper significance than just filling up time. But still, I never had any complaints with the characters and this series didn`t incite them in me either.

Value: 3 (1stGIG = 7)
First of all, I would only watch this series again after watching 1stGIG. And even then, I may think twice. 2ndGIG is overall just a bit too political for me and not as action-oriented as I would have preferred. It`s hard to recall any moments in it that really make me want to come back to it, though I know one day I probably will.

Enjoyment: 5 (1stGIG = 8)
2ndGIG turned out to be a very average series for me, that unfortunately had a higher standard to live up to with reference to 1stGIG. I enjoyed it a moderate amount - some episodes were better than others - and whilst I loved watching the GITS world, I often found myself bored and losing interest too often. I don`t doubt that some people will find 2ndGIG better than 1stGIG depending on their taste in story etc., but I personally felt that 2ndGIG didn`t have that passion which was abundant in its predesessor.

What can one say about GITS SAC 2nd Gig? This is perhaps the most polished and refined anime ever made. What else? It has a plot which make Fredrick Forsyth and Robert Ludlum look like Enid Blyton. If you want an anime with an intricate, convoluted, mind boggling, jumbled plot - look no more - Ghost In The Shell 2nd Gig is the anime for you.

However tech stuff first:
The animation is better than 1st gig. A nice blend of 2D and 3D imagery. All the characters look sharp, the backgrounds are beautiful. All the movements are smooth and refined. This show will not even going in to humor shots like Bleach or Rozen Maiden - so don't expect such stuff. That for GITS would be blasphemy. What you do get in return is beautiful animation.

The sound is once again done by Yoko Kano. Brilliant sound is expected from this music director, and that is precisely what you get. The music is a nice blend of techno and rock, adding to series polish and refined style. Along with this the seiyuu are perfect. Haven't seen the english dubs - don't want to either....

Now for the story, this one is definitely not meant for all anime viewers. Those who like anime like Naruto, Bleach should not come anywhere close to this anime for their own sake. This is very serious and extremely convoluted stuff. Unlike 1st Gig, where the number of Complex episodes were lesser, most of the episodes (around 20) of 2nd Gig are of the Complex type. The series is very gripping, but considering the tone and the effort required by the viewer just to keep up with all the events (which are many) is just too much. After 5 epiosdes your heads starts to beg for a break. I myself had to watch more than half of the episodes twice and some thrice just to get to the point where I could understand what was going on. There is a lot of philosophy, there are scenes in which characters go on a 15 minute monologue, there are cabinet eetings in which ministers bite over each others heads for 5 minutes. Long conversations are a norm, and many times situations are probed and analysed in depth. This is not an easy to follow story.
But if you can overlook this 'flaw' in the type of storytelling, then you are in for an experience of a lifetime. The story takes many twists and turns, and you go through a political, beaureaucratic roller-coster ride. Events take place here and there, only adding to the confusion to the storyline. And it keeps you in a grip until the last episode. Does it manage to pull through? This one pulls away magnificently. There are almost no loose ends, and the flaws either. An absolute masterpiece on its own terms.

The charcters of Section 9 are this time given much more emphasis than the last Gig. Last time, there was hardly any character developement, but this time characters are developed in flashbacks, when the story takes a backseat and let the characters explain how they got to be where they are now. The history of Pazu and Motoko (Major) are incredible.
Apart from these, the characters are awesome. I love the Major, she is perhaps the best female anime character ever made, Batou is the muscular cool dude sorta guy. The rest of the characters are like Togusa, Ishikawa alongwith others are also given their share as well.

Ghost In the Shell is a benchmark. Not just for anime but perhaps for all serious stuff ade for TV. But unfortunately it is overlooked, for not many people can even begin to comprehend GITS. Considering the amount of philosophy and complicated story in this - most people will be turned off by this. So I would not recommend this to everyone. This stuff is upper class, polished, and is extremely complicated (I must stress this, for most people tend to overlook this.) I was thus not surprised to see so many unfavorable reviews for this one, sigh... Nonetheless, for those people who like stuff which are serious and philosophical, I recommend that they watch this. And I decry all those who think that this is like Last Exile (I read someone who had the gall to compare the two... made me open my jaw with disbelief)

And dont download it from a bogus subber, they will fill half you monitor with a translation. Laughing Man Subs are best. Try KAA as well.

WOW.

This one really blew me away, even more so than the 1st season (only a teeny bit, though!).

Every thing in this show SCREAMS quality and you can see the creators really put their all in it, even though they could've made this a "ok" show and still sells tons of it because it has the name "Ghost in the shell" in it.

Now lets' begin this review :

1. Animation - The show looks perfects.
The animations is fluid and realistic, the colors vibrant and with depth, the background are super detailed...it's just perfect.

3D is used masterfully to complement the animation.

I just can't say anything bad about this, is excellent.

2. Sound - Again, excellent.
Made by the great Yoko Kanno, the music is used to great effect to heighthen the action and the story and would be equally impressive even by itself.
It sure gives some momentes that more impact.

3.The Story - How can i talk about this withouth spoling? Oh well, i'll just tell you the story is much more grand in scope than the 1st season, and it a bit less on the tech side, and a bit more on the political and social part of problems, though techonolgy still plays a huge role.

The plot is superb, as is character development, even more so than the first season, because we get to see sides of the characters than make them even more real than what was established in the first season.

I really grew attached to all of the characters and got to see a human side to all of them.

There's even a small hint of a love story thrown in, which would seem a bit out of place in GITS, but it's handleed very well and contributes to the story.

4.-Characters - As i've said all characters are further fleshed out in the story, specially "The Major" Motoko Kusanagi, who blossms as something much more than a simple "bad-ass".
Even the villains are very developed.

In the end i reccomend this show to everyone, animefan or not, as it trascends the medium and becomes a classic not only as anime but as pure entertainment.

At it's best.

GitS - SAC 2nd GiG is like its predecessors, very hard to review. Mainly due to its many philosophical views and its somewhat complicated storyline. Many difficult terminologies are used throughout this anime and it is definitely not for one who just wants to enjoy mindless action. This 2nd GiG emphasized alot more on politics which I find strayed away from its original Stand Alone Complex philosophy in 1st GiG. Thus I think the 1st GiG was overall better done than this sequel.

This id the best anime i've ever seen. And why these high marks It's because i wonderered what i didn't like about all those things and i only could come up with one drawback.
The story is sometimes too complicated. And i think it is some what my problem. Because i'm not really good at intelectual understanding but it is so hard to keep up with the subtitles extra comments and visuals so I have to watch some scene's three times and pause it before i get the whole idea.

But the complicated story keeps it so much more intersesting it's like watching a chess game done by masters u don't see why they done a certain move until a few turns later. And u see the true genius of the move and trap he or she contemplated. (btw I'm not good at chess)so it is easy to impress me but u get the general idea i hope.
Watch this series !!!

Ghost in the Shell; Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG is definitely a production worth watching. This is especially true if you’re a Shirow fan. This show definitely surpasses it's predecessor in both production quality and in depth.

Another incredible series in the Ghost in the Shell vein.

The storyline is excellent, though progression is awkward and made a number of the episodes uninteresting.

The characters just don't shine here. They're all adequate, but only three or so are really worth watching, as they are developed to the exclusion of the others.

It's still pretty cool...

Great engaging animation, interesting plots, realistic sound, great action scenes, not to mention how witty the Major is. These are the things that retained from GITS:SAC GIG1 that are found in GIG2.

However, in light of GITS:SAC GIG 1, this is more action-oriented. Although full of talking and contemplating scenes, the whole nature of this is to physically tackle the enemy, whereas in GIG1, it is more of a psychological warfare.

Even though its not one of those romantic types , watching this doesn't leave out scenes of love. Despite the characters being partial or even nearly complete cyborgs, despite being in an age where machines play such a large part of life, human emotions are constantly played upon and feelings of love, anguish, and loneliness never disappear. GIG2 plays more upon the origins of the characters, and each snippet of the support cast's stories are very interesting. They each have their own tie to the Major, and it increases the bond among the Section 9 team as they face danger together, almost as if against the world.

Again, as like in GIG1, if one were to watch this series at some other time, again, one would most likely view this anime from a different light. SO value is good, oh not to mention the box sets look very snazzy and are a great collectors item.

I have no complaints at all. I think someone might only dislike it if they didn't read the subtitles fast enough (if you can't understand Japanese), sometimes it goes by fast.. touching upon philosophical and technical issues

However, for the last few episodes I have to say the story isn't that great. The ending really doesn't do much and leaves much uncovered and unsolved and much to be desired. A kind of let down from the atmosphere created by the first half.

If you enjoy action anime with a bit of thought put behind the meaning of the actions, then this is for you.

I'm just going to write a few lines. Remember this is just my opinion but also remember that I don’t think I’ll be exaggerating about what I’m about to write so I think the 10 score is indeed fair.

In my opinion, this one surpasses even the first series. It is the kind of anime that serious fans watch. A great story but almost each episode can be seen as an individual sub story and great characters. Actually, I think that only very few anime characters (not talking about DBZ or Naruto alike) can match Motoko. And don’t forget the relevance that is given to the social-political issues that is so important to fully understand the story.
On a technical level it’s made of the best a TV anime series can offer and its quality stands equal with other animes like Last Exile for example.
Its very well executed action scenes can sometimes even surpass the ones present in more fighting themed animes due to its realism. Well at least what you think it might really be if it was real since they are, after all, cyborgs.
What to say about the soundtrack? Kanno Yoko is a goddess of music. It really doesn’t occur to me any other way of how to put it. All the music she made for anime is memorable like Wolf’s Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus etc… But this one just might be the best, but in music it’s always a matter of taste so take your own conclusions.

Please don’t take me wrong. I watch Naruto every week, I love Full Metal Alchemist and I’m even a big fan of CLAMP!! So trust me, if you either just got into anime or you’re fan only of the most well known animes, it won’t hurt to try to watch some more complex stories. If so, this is just the best series to start.

Sorry for my bad English. ^ ^;

And do read the review below which let you know more about the Ghost in The Shell universe and about the story of these series.

Different genre appleads to a diversified range of anime audience. Ghost in the shell remains one as one of the best Science-Fi anime to date. As Ghost in the Shell's movies and its 2nd gig continue their tradition of making anime which pays a lot of attention to details, plots and dialogue, winning awards after awards throughout the years, they show no sign of decadence yet. On the contrary, it is getting better with each new episode and movie. Ghost in the shell should be seen in its totality and not be judged based on any single episode.

Ghost in the shell or commonly known as GITS revolves around a unit known as Section 9, setup to preserve national security and to perform a kind of social justice for their citizens. However, to think of it as a high tech police/detective story is to miss the plot completely. It draws ideas from scientific fact/postulations, Darwinian evolution theory, philosophy such as Nihilism, existentialism, phenomenalism, political ideals, historical movement and even literature works such as Salinger's work. Those are only one aspect of GITS.

The idea and concept of merging human with computer artificial intelligence to achieve the best of both world is apparent in the way they imagined what human evolution will arrive soon. Along came with it, all the social issues and complications.

Watch, experience and judge it for yourself.
