Few anime can make a person ask, "is it over yet" more than Yumeria. Being based off a game is no excuse for something to be as poorly executed as this. Gathering annoying characters in droves and having terrible music; Yumeria should be forbidden on anyone's shelf.

If you need a couple episodes of silly harem anime to get through an afternoon this isn't a bad choice. It does make fun of the super sentai teams with the antics of the female members of the cast and suffers from some of the standard harem anime problems when it comes to having a male character with a backbone, but it doesn't try to be more than it is, which is a playful and fun TV series.

ZEITVERSCHWENDUNG!!!

no. just no. from the first episode i knew where this was going. i have no idea how this managed above a 5.0 rating.

the best part about this anime is the few comedic moments that had me chuckling out loud. if you don't mind a short, low-brow, action-comedy, with quite a bit of ecchi then try a couple of episodes.

What do you do when you are at home, on vacations, retain a passion for anime and have absolutely nothing to do? One of the options would be to watch Yumeria, a 12 epsiode series which has absolutely NO content at all. Before this, Girls Bravo was the epitome of the worst story ever - now Yumeria takes away the crown in this area. It was like taking candy from a baby...

The story is like this, our hero is a useless guy, the worst in his class and on his 16th birthday gets the power to fight in the dream world against some robots. Surprisingly, for no apparent reason a flock of girl keep hovering around him in the real and dream world, like bees over honey. This starts with a 10-12 year old girl whom he finds in his bed, sleeping with him in the nude saying "Mone" (Japanese for breasts and ironically she doesn't have any...) And so on and so forth till he is surrounded by 5 girls. Let the harem madness begin!

Let me now clarify: No there is no harem madness in this. Just some jokes about the hero being a lolita lover, and useless banal stuff like the beach episode. The story is boring enough to put a harem lover to sleep. I sat through this, since I fast forwarded almost half the episode for all the episodes. Even then, it was boring...

What makes Yumeria a failure in all fronts is that it tries to be mediocre in all areas. So you have half-baked action, jokes which make you yawn, romance to make you sleep, and ecchi to make you roll your eyes in disbelief. Hence a useless series. The characters are as 1-D as you can get - all of em are duds with single digit IQs.

Do I recommend this? Lets put it this way: If you are unemployed, or at vacations when you just don't want to do anything, then you can watch 2 or so episodes a day to put yourself asleep. That is the best way to watch Yumeria. For all who watch anime for entertainment purposes, please chop your ears and poke your eyes out before you watch this. Get the message?

P.S: The class topper falling for they worst scoring guy in school is something only Yumeria story-writers can think off.

Yumeria is the story of Mikuri Tomazaku, a typical Joe Average that discovers that he is the one who can alter destiny. He dreams one night of being in the dream world of Moera and fighting enemies known as Faydooms. He dreams of a kawaii girl helping him out. Next morning, she's lying next to him in bed. Soon several other women (including his guardian Nanase, his childhood friend Mizuki, his stepsister Kuyou, and Neneko, a homeless child) join him to defeat these evil creatures. After awhile, Tomokazu learns of his destiny from "the family head." Throw into this an extremely sadistic teacher named Ishikara and classmate/star Megumi, and one has this anime.

I haven't seen it all but only half of it. I like it so far, but the story is a little....weird. The characters are all likable but the one and only problem with this anime is that they all need to spend a little more time in the dream world. In one episode, they don't even go in there at all. It's a pretty colorful anime and one that keeps you entertained so when you finish your homework and have nothing to do, 'Yumeria' will keep you busy. Anyway, I'm going to move on:

Animation-I give it a ten because the characters are softly drawn and they all look pretty decent.

Sound-The opening is very catchy. The seiyuu's (voice actors) are good too. The background music, I like it, especially when they fight.

Story-Like I said, it's weird, period.

Character-Not much character development but there is some....so far.

Value-I recommend this to anyone, it's pretty good and it's totally not boring.

Enjoyment-I'm really enjoying it so far...except for the ecchi parts like the transformations and those OTHER moments...but still, I like it

This a funny anime, not a very good one. Good enough, if you just want to see something totally non-serieus.
Nice graphics and some nosebleeding stuff comes up, and with no real plot, it is just funny to watch, and nothing more.

How did this anime got into the top 200 ranking list?

The only nice point going for this anime is the animation, but considering how most graphics of anime look alike nowadays, it's not such a great accomplishment.

The premise started out interesting, although the fights are hardly worthwhile to watch.

The characters are done poorly. The main character couldn't do anything, making him pretty useless. Even by the end of the story, none of the characters really developed. You almost know them as well as the beginning of the story.

Not recommended for watching or rewatching.

EDIT:

It's been taken off from the top 200 list, definitely the way it should be.

Pretty good... its only problem was length. If Yumeria had like 14 more character development episodes it would be great. Character development and more action. Also the story didn't have enough time to really progress. The series was rushed. For me, they spent too little time in the dream world, and the series never really explained that very well. Also, the character emphasis switched near the end which confused me. It was interesting... funny occasionally... definately interesting though.

Animation was pretty basic... characters looked typical, still I gave it a nine cause bright colors are cool... and happy character = happy me.

Nothing too great about the sound - average and bareable.

Story was "save the world" underdeveloped however which was a dissappointment. It seemed to have so much potential.

Characters were diverse (the one guy five girls thing again) interesting, but once again underdeveloped.

It didnt really leave me anything... value? don't sacrifice others?

I enjoyed it. Yumeria was funny with some action mixed in. Good for clearing the mind but it was Just Too Short.

The animation of the chracters is a little weird when they are in profile because they have like huge nose or something. I like how they animated the beack and the ocean. It looks really nice, also the aurora. The anime seem like really noise because you have this annoying little girl that only says "Mone", which i thought it was cute at the beginning. Then, it just became annoying after that.

The story was some what interesting in the first few episodes, but then the las few just sucked.... specially the ending.... I guess is because the whole anime is a big dream, and dreams don't necessary has to make sense like the title.

I found some of the characters really funny and others really annoying. I didn't like Mone because it just got really annoying because that is all she can say even at the end. I really found Ishikari funny, but really perverted because of the lolita part. I have to say that mos the characters doesn't have their own personality that will distinguish he/she from other characters because the personality just repeats itself. For instance, Mone and Neneko share the same personality, except when Nate comes in.

Overall, I found this anime average. The comedy parts were mostly the ecchi parts about big breast or lolitas, so if you like that kind of stuff this is maybe the anime for you. Other than that i woudn't suggest you to watch it

In my opinion this is a below average comedy with some ecchi and some action in it.
The main character is a 16 years boy who lives with 4 women (2 little girls + 2 girls + a young woman). When these characters sleep they enter a dream world where they fight some mechanical creatures that want to invade our world. The boy gives power to the women touching them.

I found it a bit funny at the beginning (say 4 episodes) but then it became very boring:
1) all the episodes are basically the same
2) there isn't a real story
3) it isn't funny in the long run
4) the action part is not good at all
5) the women are pretty annoying: they seem to like him but they continuosly tell him that he is a pervert. Then there is a little girl who can only say MONE MONE (and she says it A LOT) despite the fact she can understand what the others say.

Summing up:

- no good comedy
- no good ecchi
- no good action

I really liked this anime, its too bad it wasnt a 26 episode series though. The main character was pretty funny,i also liked the other characters except for the 2 little girls, they were pretty annoying at times, but they addedd to some of the comedy. The OP and ED were better than average, and the story was good. I liked it more though when they were messing around in the real world instead of fighting in the dream world (well they also messed around in the dream world at times too). Even though some people say it feels rushed, i think the pacing of this anime fits right in. And the ending, wow you couldnt have asked for a more happier ending than what i saw. SO check it out for some laughs and some semi cool battles.

Overall, this series wasn't as good as i thought it was going to be, it was just enjoyable. Once you watched an episode you can't just leave the others alone, it makes you want to keep watching the series until it ends. The plot is like an action game so if your into that you should check it out, what can i say, its good for wasting time and its also enjoyable. If you pick it up there is a 70% chance that you'll regret buying it because the anime is pretty (should i say) stupid. Not to ruin it for anyone but to me the ending was really stupid. The sound or the songs it had weren't really that great for me, to me they s*cked (excuse my language) but overall this would be a 6.5 or 7, it was enjoyable and there was a plot that they stucked too. I didn't enjoy the plot because the plot this anime series had could've easily been extended to about 100 episodes or so, but that might make it boring. This series was never boring to me, i liked every episode and they all kept me entertained but remember, it might be a waste of time for you. THe biggest problem is, this is a one time watch series, after once it'll be boring to watch it again but it is really enjoyable and watching 1 episode will get you to watch the whole series in a day because you won't be able to stop, like me.

When I was browsing and searching for an entertaining ecchi series, I came by this. I had high hopes for it since it included a story with soooo many women. To my disappointment, the story was lousy. The action that goes along with the story gets repetitive after awhile, and it eventually gets to the point where its no different than a Yugi-Oh duel. The only real decent thing was the animation.

Yumeria. Ecchi? Nope. Interesting? Far from it. What can I expect from a storyline that is so limited, special powers that are used over and over again, and enemies that don't really impress anyone? Nothing much to expect I guess.

At first, I didn't know what to expect from Yumeria. The one thing that saves this title from being crap is the fact that the creators of the anime KNOW that Yumeria is lame, and use the lame part for a comedic purpose.

The animation of Yumeria knows little flaws. Yes it has fanservice, but Yumeria is able to use it the right way -- for comedy. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was too bright at times. But beautiful character design makes up for this. And the teacher in his SM outfit just cracks me up everytime =D.
Sound, now this was funny. Although Yumeria doesn't feature great BGM, the BGM was very appropriate. It consisted of sounds you usually find in your older Final Fantasy games, but it was used under very similar circumstances, like finishing off enemies. The seiyuu's were increadible in this anime. I'm talking about the teacher and Tomokazu. Tomokazu's seiyuu used exactly the right voice at the right times, the same goes for the teacher. But one character grated on my nerves just because of the sound. Of course, I'm talking about Mone. Sure, it's sickeningly cute that all she can say is mone, her character design is also as cute as Chiyo from Azumanga Daio, but is gets extremely annoying after two episodes, maybe even earlier. I mean, at the very end, she seems to be going to say something else, but then, all she flaps out is "mone!". One other thing that I didn't like were the names of the attacks. Espescially that every character screams them out loud when using them. Fortunately, the creators also realized how lame it actually was, so they let Tomokazu mock it when the phenomenon was introduced. But for the rest, the sound was in order.
The story, now here's something else. The comedic approach was chosen, but otherwise, this story could've easily been used in a hard-core action anime with a romance sub-genre. The latter was also present here, but didn't play an important part in the story. Action is very present, but the battles are quite boring and the names of the attacks are ridiculous (Spiral Flare? Hydro Punisher/Pressure? Mone-mone, MONE!! Give me a break, puh-lease!) So thank god that the action wasn't too much present. But then, what was present, you may ask. Well, for one thing, lame comedy. This show mocks itself, and for once, it's a good thing. The comedy may not have been high in quality, the quantity sure made up for that. Still, Yumeria's story had more potential, but would this show have been stretched to a 24 or 26 ep format, most of the stuff would've gotten way too lame, so consider it a pro that this show is short.
I'm not going to waste to many keystrokes for the characters. As Tomokazu indicates himself in the first episode, he's a very cliché character. The other characters are just the same. It's their actions that save them, otherwise the grade would've been lower.

Now I don't think I'm going to recommend Yumeria to anyone. It's just a title you might want to pick up if you need a laugh and if you've played too many beat-em-up games on you gameconsole. It's not a great title, it's just mild fun.

Animation/Sound:
Nice crisp animation with your typical anime-style artwork and character designs. The soundtrack is average, but the OP and ED songs are quite good.

Story:
Pretty typical harem Shoujo comedy series. The Shoujo action and ecchi comedy are pretty lame and unoriginal, but the plot is actually surprisingly decent for this type of series. There are noticeable holes in the plot, but it's not overly predictable, which does make the story more interesting to watch.

Characters:
Your standard 1 guy many girls cast. Pretty typical in terms of presonalities, and there's not much depth in them either.

Conclusion:
A slightly above average haren Shoujo comedy series. If you like this genre, go ahead and give Yumeria a go. It's a short, simple series that probably won't impress you too much, but it should mildly entertain you for a few hours.

Weird anime. Definitly one of the "random picks". Well, I won't say the anime is GOD awfull, heck it has its good points, but it is just not one of those animes that has that special something that makes a good anime. The animation is pretty good and I enjoyed the comedy parts in it, but the character developments are far and few between. I would go as far to say that Mone-chan is one of the most annoying characters I have ever seen(not that she always repeats "Mone" whenever she says ANYTHING, but rather that when I have seen this before, they usually find out why the person ended up like that or they teach that character a new word.) The story is stupid, im sorry to say. Well, funny stupid, but still stupid.

Yumeria=MMORPG+Sailor moon/power rangers+Vandread

Clearly fanbase, targetting mostly the ecchi part. For most of the story, you have a concept for an episode and repeating it in all the episodes with a little story in each episode, which made it boring.
Guys would like this. But even though the ecchi is there, few times I get thrilled. The rest is just mediocre. Vandread is almost the same, but better.
I would suggest try seeing it once, then trade it/give it to others that have not seen it.
