The epitome of pure mecha anime!!! From the flashy colorful robots to the cheesy energetic music, and overdramatic drama that is both cheesy yet heart-warming and sometimes sad. Godannar season 2 has got it all. It even has got all the usual fan service with bouncy boobs and colorful haired girls in skimpy outfits that is such eye candy to watch that it isn't insulting and annoying. Furthermore, it feels like the animation has gone up a notch in terms of the battle animations, especially with the frame rate and special effects for some key battles.

In comparison to the first season, I enjoyed this season more. A lot more straight to the battles, a lot more internal conflicts, and furthermore there is also a little more interesting character problems with practically everyone in this series that make this series a lot more lively. Not everything in this anime is restricted to events happening in the single base, I really liked seeing this nice mix of character drama and battles.

I would like to add something extra to a comment I made in my first season review. It may be worth watching this anime just for the second season alone. Some awesome mecha fights that I've not seen before, still the same great energy, and also an added infusion of character conflicts that makes this anime more engaging. It seems that as things get more intense, character conflicts become a lot more obvious, especially with Anna and Shizuru. However, just like the first season, the side characters in the other Godannars are kind of pointless. The other pilots from the base, the pilots from China, Russia. don't really play too much role except to make it a little more "dramatic" and to kind of extend the Meimesis conflict more on the global scale instead of just in the main character's area. The side characters are basically used for cannon fodder for all the various bad things to happen.

Note: If it wasn't for the fast pacedness of this anime and the inter-character drama, the annoying fact that mindless aliens are the villains would have made this anime a bit more unbearable. One thing to note is that the aliens in this battle actually are kind of tough! The baddies actually make use of their "allies" to help attack the mechas; that's pretty groundbreaking considering no anime makes use of this possibility.

In the end, this is quite the opposite of those purely tactical mecha gundam animes. Compared to Gundam SEED, there is less character drama and more mecha fights. This series has lots of flashy battles, lots of energy, cheesy romance, kind of cheesy themes, and pilots calling out their battle moves loudly. Furthermore, the last few episodes have a lot of pretty interesting phenomenons happening - the whole Rabid Syndrome and Insania Virus that occurs is a pretty interesting enemy that pits humans against humans and not just against Mimesis aliens.

I do have a complaint though... because the side mecha pilots had about 3-4 episodes devoted to them in this season in order to kind of develop the storyline, I felt that the main characters didn't get enough attention and some stuff was kind of spread thin. I wanted to see more Go, Anna, and Shizuru.

Im going to review both seasons here because i dont think splitting my reveiws is going to help anyone!

Animation. Top class animation that has both beautiful art, fluid action, creative looking characters & is overall kickass, colourful goodness (although "black" can be good too!). Very good use of computer enhanced effects & even changes in the transformation scenes. 9 out of 10 is clearly deserved (10 out of 10 if you like busty russian chicks with orange hair & green eyes in a purple outfit eww!) please note that the booby physics is tremendous, emotions & chracter attitudes are also shown outstandingly through the animation!.

Sound. Top sound, great background music & ending/opening. You want it to have 10/10 but some people dont like (me being one of them) BG action music with words because it can get repetitive. But this time even i like it because its done that damm well! (9 -1 because of the word thing). Voices etc, are top notch!

Story. Very engaging story throughout with a slightly episodic introductory start, Thrilling ending! (which builds on everything in-between). Shame it had to build up a cliff hanger at the end of the 1st half because there is (apparently) a series break at episode 13? which had to be adressed by a review episode 14... bound to leave some people wondering why that IS in there & adv is bound to take advantage of it to try to nab more money out of everybodys hands! Cant remember almost a year ago so the 1/4 mark is fuzzy but the 3/4 mark kicks-ass! (9 because of the season split).

Characters, diverse, comical, pretty, fitting. They develop throughout.
detailed relationships & very good mech designs. Maby people wont like the... um... (10).

Value. I need a girl to watch this, so for now im marking it down for the fanservice. (so 9). To note im never buying this series because adv licensed it. Otherwise i would have bought it the day it comes out! (it might deserve 10, i have allready watched it a few times & cant wait to show it off & watch it again!).

Enjoyment. Maby im shocked because it my first propper "super robot show" but its even throughly enjoyable if you dont enjoy the "super robot genre" (me little over a year ago!) Watching it as soon as i got it makes me think it deserves (10). (oh yeah the story 1/4 mark i looked up, its great aswell!)
